Have a shit PC so I'll miss this but I strongly recommend people play as the Prophet Muhammad.
Honestly I think a Muhammad or "Rise of Islam" mod would be perfect for the game, unironicly; The set up is all there for adding quests that simulate your rise, deposing the old Bedouin order, and starting your raids into the Southern Empire that snowball into mass conquest.

Right now there's a game ending corruption issue with saves/loads limiting you to 55 loads from saves after loads. Scumsavers most affected (also me for playing a ton during my state sponsored vacation and trying everything and deciding that quest that actually has more negatives than rewards wasn't worth)

Sounds like a blast actually. I'm excited for what modders do with the new engine.

itll be interesting to see how the warsword team does with the engine and if their able to incorporate the magic system they have in warband.

Didn't they fix that? The patch notes said something about fixing an issue with corrupted saves.

the patch extended it from about 45 to about 55 lol.

All I want are the Lord of the Rings and Gekokujo mods to come back
I think they will be able to have monsters too with the new physics engine rather than just weird re-skinned and hitboxed people. Should be especially cool for LOTR

So I got a greenmangaming coupon for 26% off, making it $37. Is that the cheapest price at the moment?

Reminder to lower audio channels. It fixed every single fps issue I had in the game not tied to my semi-outdated hardware.
So you bought it yesterday while black-out drunk?
Due to my work I usually get stuff sent to me, half the time I don't know who sends stuff to me.

Major improvements appear to have been made to optimization, economy, power balance, weapon/armor types (minor), and the save issue is now fixed even allowing old corrupted saves to now work. Nice first week Taleworlds. Game is pretty epic so far

How interesting are the NPCs, quests, relationship building, and the like? I know writing isn't exactly the point of these games but not having much to do between battles and settlement management is what killed my interest in Warband after about a week.

How do you fight in this? I feel like the melee tutorials are kinda wonky. All I gathered is that that swing direction is mouse based, spears can only thrust or overhead thrust, and there’s a shield bash/pommel strike that I don’t know the purpose of.

It's definitely a rough game so far, but Taleworlds has been absolutely on top of patching the game, to the point that what they released (which still isn't done, mind you, far from it) is actually pretty fun and mostly stable. Giving back tournament XP was a great idea. Hopefully they focus on new mechanics next.

Quests seems a lot better to me.

horse back is somewhat more of a double edged sword, yeah being mounted gives a good edge to the average footman, bandit or looter, but when proper spearmen start coming into the fold its way more dicey, so far two handed has been quite rewarding.

It takes a bit to get used to. Spears can thrust overhead or underhand if they're a lance or you have a shield, otherwise you can swing them. Block and weapon attacks are mouse based, so basically jerk your mouse in the direction you want your attacks to come from. The shield bash/pommel strike/kick can break guards and/or push your opponent back to give you a little breathing room. Enable the attack direction arrows while you're learning if they aren't already, and remember that you can't just spam attacks since the weapon has some weight.

Blocking
- a last second block micro-stuns the enemy for longer than an attack blocked in advance giving you a larger window to attack. A long held block allows the enemy to feint much more effictively
- chambering at the right time has a similar effect and if done perfectly allows you to swing on in advance

Attacking
- you will probably see the AI feinting, this is a pretty useful skill in multiple player and somewhat in single. You do by holding attack to one direction then jerking your mouse to another and tapping block
- I think a held attack does more damage than an attack that wasn't
- momentum increases/decreases damage
- try not to attack into a block as it will micro-stun you. Try leading with a shield bash instead (particularly in single player) and following up with a quick strike
- the point in your swing that you hit increases/decreases damage, usually somewhere towards the middle to 2/3 of the animation
- stabbing does a better job against armor than slashing unless you have a blunt weapon, so go for the head or a stab if they have heavy armor
- you can chain attacks in some directions if you time it right, particularly right to left
- crush-throughs will probably be added at some point
- AI is pretty aggressive most of the time. Picking the right time to attack is key

You can tell they laid some groundwork for more relationship building especially with the laws, clans, and hero bios, but it's still very very barebones. For now, you are gonna have to headcannon a lot if you want a story like in the last game, and I can't imagine that aspect changing too too much without mods.

so what do you guys run in your armies troop wise? iv gotten the most out of it with vlandian sergeants and merc crossbows with the occasional sturgian or aserai.
I'm thinking of just making an army of nothing but Fians and maybe a a few dozen wildlings to act as a cheapish shield that can through deadly things, only Battanian because i like making armies like that and i prefer the aesthetic of the Battanians at the moment.

Here's a tip for you by the way if you want lots of nobles go knock out various bandits say you want Vlandian knights, knock out i think it was either mountain bandits or Brigands and they will upgrade into a high tier noble troop all the while being pretty good troops, you can convert them into the noble troops by putting them into a companions party when they are ready to be leveled up or a castle/town garrison then just wait and collect them when they are upgraded, you will want to keep an eye on the companions party though as they will go for a wander.

eh battanians feel the squishiest to me, think the aesthetic doesnt help em in that regard. as for the vland cav its alright but with cactphracti they kinda get blown out the water.
