If he's out for all of 2026, Arman will take the belt from Justin, maybe at the White House card. Then Topuria has to fight Arman in the unification match which the UFC SHOULD want to give us (Remember that whole 'best fight the best' gimmick? That was hilarious. Peak banter.)

If Paddy won last night, Arman would never get a title shot. Since Justin has one foot out the door, Dana and Co. don't care if Arman chokes him.

But goddamn, I do love watching a good Dana White Privilege go wrong. Paddy has improved, but at 155 being 'really good' just isn't good enough.
 
Going to echo the prevailing sentiment here and say that Gaethje looked awful out there and I don't think it was just because of the obvious staph infection. Paddy performed about as well as I expected him to but Gaethje should have retired already. He might literally be the UFC's first death in the octagon if he fights like that against Topuria. Hell, if he fought like that against Arman or Holloway, they would kill him too.

Dan Hooker said Arman broke his nose during their faceoff when he headbutted him, but didn’t report it because he didn’t want the fight to be called. I thought this was typical BS, but I went back and saw some videos and stills of the altercation and it might be plausible. Either way, he wasn’t going to win that fight.

So in a way Islam avenged his only L and 311 was not for nothing.
