I completely agree. Gaethje has a lot of miles on the clock, and the smaller weight classes are notorious for massive declines once fighters pass their prime and they lose their speed and athleticism.

Honestly one of the things I love about MMA is how unpredictable it can be. Justin v Paddy is NOT a matchup of the two best lightweights, and whoever wins will be sitting in ilia and islams shadow for a while, but I’m excited for the fight all the same

I hate influencers so much it's unreal.
I know this "guru" isn't that bad for influencer's standard since he's just an overgrown manchild, not someone who harasses randos for views, but it's still sadden to see how far clowns like this can get today. Call me a boomer whatever you want, but back in the day, celebrities were people with real career before being famous, now it's just terminally online tards.

Speaking of Arman, RAF 5 was wild. Tech falls were raining from the heavens. Arman tech'd Palmer, Buchanan tech'd Romero, Colby tech'd Rockhold, and Bo Bassett tech'd Cayden Henschel.
 
We still are quite a few days away from fight day, so fuck it, I'll just give a hot take in case anyone would like to argue with me:

Steroids should be allowed.
Not only did it bring us great athletes in the form of TRT Vitor and Ubereem, it would also help them heal and recover from injuries. Not to mention that it's clear as day that guys still manage to circumvent the system anyways, and it's not cheating if it's legal.

From an entertainment and the own fighters POV, it's a win-win.

That runs the risk to influencing impressionable young people to take drugs in order to change their bodies in a way that provides short-term satisfaction at the expense of long-term health, which is wrong.

Or it used to be, anyway.

first the 25m pissbreak collapsed (good), and then they put a 15m one on the main card instead...
now Perez and Figueiredo (who incidentally have fought each other for the belt) have missed weight, and Smotherman vs Turcios is canceled.
now it seems like Gaethje is on thin ice

Umar is for sure winning, figgy looked awful weighing in. Johnson is also 100% winning, Perez is washed (if he was ever good). Hopefully we get a Blanchfield vs Barber scenario for the piss break.

It already has. Canceled fights. Weight misses. Main event has a fighter with massive staph infection. Pathetic all around. This is after two months of no fights. And also the launch of the UFC on Paramount+ and CBS. I would not be shocked if Gaethje loses badly simply due to being sick and performing sluggishly.

Figgy is 38, his metabolism is shot, he can't lose weight the way he used to, not to mention that his body is beyond broken, with almost 10 years older than Umar and twice the amount of professional fights and a busted leg.

Obviously this is a lay up for Umar to be on title contention, but also to see if Umar can finish a fucking fight against a ranked guy, because the UFC brass has been very vocal that they want finishers to headline their events, and if Sean drops Yadong and Umar just manages to wrestle point a victory over old man Figgy, then Sean will fight for the belt.

And I can't blame the UFC here, Yan is a exciting striker, and his fight with O'Malley was a memorable one, people would love to see a rematch, but no one wants to see Yan fighting Umar's wrists for 25 minutes.
