LHW is nearly as bad as HW now only the guys have slightly better gas tanks at LHW.

No one is particularly good at any one style so it just comes down to pure luck most of the time. Also, this card was a timely reminder of how much i hate Rogan on the mic. He has been around this sport for decades and still somehow doesn't have a fucking clue.
LHW has been weaker than HW for quite a while as everyone outside Alex is a sloppy striker, people though Ank would be different because of neckbeard and shit but he also turned out to be one dimensional and subsequently get exposed. Your average HW fatso, no matter how bad he is, usually knows how to and does throw a takedown.
Ankalaev was the worst champion. No one knew who he was and there was 0 chance he retained.
He's the reason why Jon Jones retires so at least he does have some legacy.

Anyone else catch the Smashing Machine?

I thought it was a 7/10. If you have already seen the documentary it's based on, you've basically seen 90 percent of the movie.

Fight choreography wasn't great and some of the casting was questionable (I have no idea why Paul Varelans is portrayed by some balding guy)

It was still cool to see all the throwback stuff like the old octagon mats and hearing the Pride victory theme.

Lol. LMAO even. Conor gets suspended under the anti-doping policy for 3 whereabouts violations , and conveniently the suspension will end just in time for the White House card:

Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD) announced today that Conor McGregor, of Dublin, Ireland, has accepted an 18-month period of ineligibility for a violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy (UFC ADP).

McGregor missed three attempted biological sample collections within a 12-month period in 2024, which constitutes a violation of the UFC ADP. UFC athletes are required to provide accurate whereabouts information at all times, so they can be contacted and submit to biological sample collections without prior warning. McGregor’s missed tests occurred on June 13, September 19, and September 20, 2024, and were each classified as Whereabouts Failures by CSAD under the UFC ADP.

Although McGregor failed to make himself available for testing on those dates, CSAD noted that he was recovering from an injury and was not preparing for an upcoming fight at the time of the three missed tests. McGregor fully cooperated with CSAD’s investigation, accepted responsibility, and provided detailed information that CSAD determined contributed to the missed tests.

Despite these mitigating factors, CSAD emphasizes that accurate whereabouts filings and the ability to conduct unannounced testing are essential to the success of the UFC ADP. Taking McGregor’s cooperation and circumstances into account, CSAD reduced the standard 24-month sanction for three whereabouts failures by six months. His period of ineligibility began on September 20, 2024 (the date of his third whereabouts failure) and will conclude on March 20, 2026.

You dropped this, king.

Alex is still making money off of Big Ank.

I do not like Dana White.
We could have had Artem vs. Alex Part 3 in UFC, but your boy Dana refuses to open his wallet.

UFC is managed by stereotypical boomers who are still stuck in the Connor pattern because it worked once, and also quantity > quality. The whole poatan thing is purely accidental, they'll likely never sign any established kickboxer again.

I lost my phone Saturday night/Sunday morning…. But man. What a card. Fairly average, but the parlays were hitting hard as fuck. What is everyone thinking about the Rio card? How is Valter Ignacio/Walker not on the main card yet, and so far down on the prelims? Thinking about dropping a chunk on my 320 winnings on a heel hook.

Oliviera proved he isn't flushed; he just has the misfortune of being in one of the toughest weight classes with there almost always being one Caucasian better than him.

Joel Alvarez absolutely dogwalked Luque on two weeks notice in a higher weight class. If 170 wasn't so top heavy, I'd recommend he stay there.

Topuria’s “old man wins” aging like fine wine. Apparently the Brazilian crowd hated Luque for giving up. That guy is so washed post Neal brain bleed that it’s obvious he shouldn’t be fighting anymore.

Not just physically after all the wars but he’s mentally shot. How can you get in there and have a fight when you had a brain bleed that could have possibly killed you at the back of your mind? Bloody Steve Erceg has admitted to fighting Moreno with the KKF KO playing in his mind mid fight and freezing up, but now replace that with “your brain might bleed and you could die”.

Askren was never my favorite fighter but damn if I don't envy his mental toughness and the confidence he has in himself. Even during his lowest when he looked like a skeleton, he still had that same smile on his face. Getting that sick was no big deal for him because he had absolute confidence that he would be able to bounce right back from it. Meanwhile, I'm still having to amp myself up to go to the gym consistently.

In hindsight RDR was looking passed Allen too much, all the Khamzat talk. Never seen a fighter gas their legs out that badly via grappling.
