He beat 2 pretty good wrestlers back to back. Imo Leon's problem is that his striking is overrated, his boxing defense isn't great and if he can't get space to potshot you he falls apart.

You can't watch Brady get outlanded by a geriatric Burns and not realize Leon's striking just isn't it.
 
I think Leon is very weak mentally. He seems to clam up once he’s on the back heel. I also 100% agree with @Giga_Nigga_28 in that his striking receives way too much praise. Yes, he has good power but he doesn’t even have a decent jab in his repertoire. That division is in a real dire state.

The only highlight for me was McCann retiring. It really bothers me how much they pump her up anytime she fights. 7-7, mediocre at best. The absolute state of all of the women’s divisions in the UFC. ONE fucking sucks but I love watching (sometimes) cute Asian women beating the fuck out of each other for the equivalent of 20 USD. Praise Chatri.

I hope that we never have to see or hear her again. Her retirement speech was pure cringe, trying to present herself as an inspiration for little girls, when she's a shit fighter who was pushed by the UFC to artificially create a popular athlete from the UK. A fitting role model for modern women indeed.

Yup - he fights at long range where he can kick you and hit some nice long range strikes, then if you close in he grabs a clinch and is pretty good there (head post, knees, elbows on break etc) - all to mask his piss poor middle range boxing. He's Jon Jones if Jones fought in a not dogshit division and was not as good of a defensive wrestler, and wasn't an insane person who is seemingly unbreakable mentally or physically. Has no actual ability to control a fight and once it goes spiralling out of control, he starts doing stupid shit like diving for wrestling shots against better wrestlers.

His game is actually quite whack and it is a fucking miracle that he managed to get a title or hold it for two defences. Its such an anti-modern MMA game its unreal (modern MMA being go forward with lots of pressure and volume, if you are a striker - do lots of it, if a wrestler, do lots of that).

I take back what I said, his greatest weakness is clearly his complete lack of any dawg whatsoever.

Against Belal there's a moment where after he lands clean, Belal ignores it, and you can just see him quit right then and there. Same thing with Brady, Leon's corner told him to intercept the blitzes with elbows, which he does, but because Brady actually came to fight he keeps pressuring so Leon gives up and walks himself back on to the cage.

It might not fix his skill deficiencies but a Leon with heart would be leagues more dangerous.

Never seen a guy have as much success career wise and also hate the struggle of fighting.
