I would actually like to see Strickland v Chimaev. Seems like an interesting fight to me.

Sean’s entire camp would be centered around TDD, and if the Usman fight proved anything, it’s that Khamzat doesn’t have the best tank . If Strickland can weather the first two rounds and not allow himself to get his jaw clipped or taken down, I feel as if the teeps would pay dividends in full.

If Bo Nickal had two brain cells, he'd be name-dropping Chimaev nonstop and talking about how superior his wrestling is and how he's the man to derail the Khamzat hype-train. The question is can he convince daddy Dana to put his shiny new toy up against a wrecking ball.

Strickland is a better wrestler than people think. He trains it regularly, but doesn't use it in fights because he's Mr. Man Dance at this stage of his career.

Chimaev's low-singles + aggro-scrambles makes him dangerous for anyone who doesn't have comparable wrestling to survive on the ground with him, or enough anti-wrestling to force a stand up. Izzy is a good anti-wrestler as pretty much everyone who tried to get him on the mat has failed.

But have any of you been looking at his social media? The guy has become full on schizo. Like filming people in airports and claiming they're CIA agents type schizo.

Fuck BJ Penn, lol. What an asshole. I met him at the TGI Friday’s inside of terminal C at DFW Airport at 5am in the morning back sometime in 2015. He was drunk as fuck, was wearing a dated and ill-fitting Affliction branded t-shirt with rhinestones on the sleeves, and wore too much cologne. It was quite unpleasant. Dude was posted up at the tiny bar, speaking extremely loudly to probably nobody on his phone.

I’m a fan and was sitting beside him, so when he was done screaming at his phone, I gave him a fist bump. After that, he just stared into his phone blankly for several minutes. While I’m about mid-pull into my own Bloody Mary, dude suddenly exclaims, “HEY!!!”

“Have you HEARD about the SNOWDEN SHIT!? That’s FUCKING CRAZY!!!”

Then he pretended to take another call while storming out of the airport restaurant without paying his tab. I went looking for him briefly out of curiosity but I couldn’t find him. I assume he was going to another bar (I believe that Friday’s cut him off) but I had a flight to catch.

Edit: was just thinking about the weird 10th Planet/Eddie Bravo to weird conspiracy theorist pipeline. There’s a lot of them in BJJ

My fingers are itching to drop 2k on Stipe. It might be a Drake bet, but I am sincerely pissed that Jon Jones now holds, or has ever held, a UFC championship. I wouldn't even care if Stipe dropped the belt after the fight. The DUCK needs to be put down.

Kinda tempted myself. My head says there's no realistic way Stipe wins, and yet my heart says Stipe's ghost absolutely heeming JBJ after all the wafflling shit about heavyweight is just too kino for the Universe not to do it.

I never thought I'd see Dana say this, but I agree. This PED abusing, race card using faggot needs to be put down like a sick dog by Tom. I'm glad the crowd was shouting his name at the pre-fight press conference. I want to hear his name chanted at the fight speech when Jon knocks out Stipe.

I saw many fighters complain about the gloves when they were first dropped but it seemed like most had adapted. The amount of power Jones has to say that he doesn’t like something and it is insisted changed is, frankly, astounding.

“I don’t like these gloves. They’re uncomfortable.”
“OK, we’re going back to the old ones!”

“I don’t like these way Stipe insulted me on the presser to, you know, move some tickets for an otherwise stagnant main event.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, Jon. I won’t do it again.”

I was once a huge Bones fan. As a fighter, still am. Since his “victories” against Reyes and Santos, he’s just become this insufferable tit. He’s vulnerable, he knows this, and instead of going out in a blaze of glory, he’s perfectly content to stagnate and tarnish his own legacy by not accepting, arguably, the toughest matchup he would have seen since 2020.

I know Dana has said that if he fights again after this, it’s definitely against Tom… but I think I’d just prefer if Jones left.

This whole fight week has been one long series of Ls for Jones. Fans are heckling him, journos are heckling him, other fighters are heckling him. He had the nerve to say he wouldn't fight Tom Aspinall because Aspinall was being 'disrespectful' to him. I know you're not supposed to do your job for free, but in this particular line of work, there's a really easy way to settle issues about 'disrespect': Make weight, put on the gloves, punch/kick/strangle until the ref stops it, then go get your check. I'm sure Jon knows how it works by now.

He said Tom was 30 pounds heavier. He weighed in at 247 against Gane. Aspinall weighed in at 251 against Blaydes.

He said Tom was 7 years younger than him. Really 6, but is that a valid complaint coming from Jon Jones who has made a career out of flushing fighters nearly 10 years older than him, and the first time he fought someone his own age was 5 years and 20 fights into his career (Gustafsson)?

Way back in ye olden days of UFC 247, he said he would give Dominick Reyes a rematch and that it was his " job to embrace the toughest challenges." Instead, he dropped the LHW title and fucked off to 'gain weight', coincidentally avoiding the peak forms of Stipe and Francis. I'll even go one better; he wasn't in any rush to go take the Heavyweight belt away from DC who he had already beaten 'twice.'
 
Jones one major fuck up imo was not vacating the hw belt when he got injured, thereby allowing the division to move forward. If he had done that, he could have said that he would honour the contract and fight Stipe, perhaps even for the bmf belt or whatever, and then go back down to his more natural weight class of lhw to fight Alex for his last fight. Some people might still have complained that he's ducking Tom, but it would have been more reasonable given that now he's basically at the tail end of his career, and hw has never been 'his' weight class. But he's just too much of a narc to do that, and now it's backfired. You love to see it.
