His fight against Reyes has one of the most incredible KO's I've seen. It actually has 2 KO's, cuz Reyes sleeps him with an up-kick and jiri is unconscious for like 0.3 seconds but then wakes up. Great fight to illustrate how insane Jiri is
So athletically dependent that when it falls off it's going to fall off hard.

OFG muay thai is brutal.

Some people are mad at the result but I can see how the decision was made (28-28 scorecard, equal-ish effective strikes, but knockdwon > cut in terms of damage). Either way they should run it back and do a proper 5 round match (Superlek missed the weight).

that fight was so goddamn good. I'm mad that they made the dumbass decision to make it a 3 rounder instead of 5.
that fight was so good, it really deserved to be 5

ONE doesn't do draws, so I guess it really could've gone either way, but imo Rodtang should've gotten it. can't wait for the rematch

UFC 5 comes out October 27, 2023. Judging by the gameplay and who's behind it, I can imagine launch will be nothing but bullshit

  • using game industry technology but can't figure out how to not fuck up izzy's face
  • the real impact system seems nice on paper but knowing how UFC4 went, i'm more than likely expecting a lot of bullshit when it comes to that
  • same with doctor stoppages. however if they manage to not fuck that up, dope addition to the game
  • the octagon looks better than the last game, can really see all the blood mixed with PRIME and ESPN
  • the new submission system is interesting, would love to see more information on it. i didn't mind the UFC4 submission system as much as others, but I think it's too bland and repetitive
  • i hope the replays are better than UFC4 cause those are dogshit
  • will you finally add TKO instead of a ref stopping me and boom it's considered a "knockout"
  • career mode looks promising but if it's anything like UFC3 which was too easy, and UFC4 which was better than UFC3 but not by a big margin. it's kinda like would you rather get shit on or pissed on

EA's insistence on using the Frostbite engine for their Sports games, even though it was designed for FPS games, isn't an assuring sign either, given how both Madden and FIFA also use Frostbite, and those games aren't any better with it.

You need to watch Jiri vs Glover. Without exaggeration, I think it's the best fight of this generation
https://youtube.com/watch?v=dHKRVKnChFI
Agreed, a lot of "great" fights amount to sloppy kick boxing with maybe a couple takedowns thrown in. This fight has everything I want to see in MMA; striking, takedowns, active grappling, ground and pound, submission attempts, shifts in momentum, etc. Both guys looked like they were running on empty at different times during the fight. As a casual viewer it hooked me and I haven't watched a live fight as good since.

All of that and some of the worst Bisping commentary I've sat through. He won't shut the fuck up.

Cedric Fucking Doumbe just had an GOATed debut in the PFL. For those unaware, Doumbe is one of the best kickboxers of this generation with 80+ fights, a lot of them defending or fighting for the Glory belt against many of the best guys multiple times. People talk up Izzy and Pereira for middleweight, he's them but for Welterweight, but even better and with slightly less hype.

Also notorious for antics and shit talking. Very well known in kickboxing and with a big French fanbase. He has also been vocal about thinking that Frances biggest MMA gym and coach, Fernand Lopez, is a shit coach and fraud (coach of Gane, Imavov, former coach of Francis).

He was initially/almost signed with the UFC, but apparently they only wanted him on 20k/20k. They talk, he says no, signs with PFL with a nice bag of about 140k per fight. Gets booked against an MMA Factory fighter, Jordan Zebo. So how does the debut go?

First the walkout.

He walks out with a mattress that says "good night Jordan", set to a remix of Ferdinand Lopez saying "oui" in a stupid way. He then gets into the cage.

Where he shouts "Jordan" and the French crowd shouts back "he's dead" several times...right before they are meant to stare down and touch gloves. Now the fight.

7 seconds. That's all it took. Walked into the arena, pissed all over his opponent and his shitty coach, got the crowd to tell him he's going to die, and then rips his head off instantly.

An insane fumble the UFC to not get him when they are trying to break into the French MMA market as the sport has just only been legalised.

seeing mbappe in the crowd was really fucking insane. kylian is probably the most famous sportsperson alive now, other than messi and ronaldo.
him and the whole team were in attendance (he's sat next to hakimi), they had had a match earlier that day and still hopped on a flight to Paris to catch doumbe's debut later that day.

live mbappe reaction

It's like a seriously big deal lol, there are very few people on his level of fame.

The comain event was really fun too: the pfl debut of 'lazy king', the two division champ from ares. dagestani wrestling and bjj ace, also from France and got a huge pop from the French crowd. he's moving down to lightweight next year and joining the tournament. he's so exciting, one to watch out for.
He won by r1 sub, fun fight.

ufc fumbled twice.

Lazy King is really good. He’s also got that French swag and humour which separates him from the usual copy-paste Dagestan guys. Big fumble.

Jesus things are all kinds of fucked up now.

The mad lad is stepping in on 12 days notice. Not got anything prepared at all since Craig Jones got the call at 3am in the US and jumped on the closest available flight to Australia.

Edit: Usman is stepping in on short notice to fight Chimaev. We actually get to see the fight people wanted to see early last year but under very strange circumstances.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor recently announced that he had re-entered the USADA testing pool, meaning he would be eligible to return to action after the drug testing agency's six-month testing period. On Wednesday afternoon, it became clear that McGregor may not need to wait that long as USADA announced their contract with the UFC would end on Dec. 31, 2023.

A statement from USADA, first posted by MMA reporter Aaron Bronsteter, detailed that the situation surrounding McGregor was partially responsible for a breakdown between themselves and the UFC.

"We can confirm that Conor McGregor has re-entered the USADA testing pool as of Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023," the statement read. "We have been clear and firm with the UFC that there should be no exception given by the UFC for McGregor to fight until he has returned two negative tests and been in the pool for at least six months. The rules also allow USADA to keep someone in the testing pool longer before competing based on their declarations upon entry in the pool and testing results.

"Unfortunately, we do not currently know whether the UFC will ultimately honor the six-month or longer requirement because, as of Jan. 1, 2024, USADA will no longer be involved with the UFC Anti-Doping Program. Despite a positive and productive meeting about a contract renewal in May 2023, the UFC did an about-face and informed USADA on Monday, Oct. 9, that it was going in a different direction."

After expressing their disappointment for the impact on fighter safety and fairness that will result from the dissolution of the partnership, USADA further dug in with the implication that getting McGregor back in the Octagon sooner than the required testing period was at the heart of the UFC's change of heart.

"The relationship between USADA and UFC became untenable given the statements made by UFC leaders and others questioning USADA's principled stance that McGregor not be allowed to fight without being in the testing pool for at least six months," USADA's statement said. One UFC commentator echoed this, recently declaring that USADA should not oversee the UFC program since we held firm to the six-month rule involving McGregor, and since we do not allow fighters without an approved medical basis to use performance-enhancing drugs like experimental, unapproved peptides or testosterone for healing or injuries simply to get back in the Octagon."

In November 2022, McGregor suggested he could be back in the UFC in early 2023 despite not being in the USADA testing pool, saying he just needed to complete two tests and would be good to go.

"We'll see how that plays out," White said at the time. "[USADA are] saying that now. But we don't -- who knows? I don't talk about s--- until s--- happens, you know what I mean? To sit here and think hypothetically how a million different things could happen -- no idea. The Conor thing, who the hell knows how that's gonna play out? Who cares what USADA says? We'll see what happens when it happens."
The implications for another Conor fight don't particularly interest me, but I'm curious to see how the UFC replaces USADA. My guess would be some kind of TKO/UFC in house testing program similar to how major team sports leagues operate. Less transparency and even more preferential treatment for UFC's golden boys/girls. Maybe they'll launch a joint testing program covering both the UFC and WWE.

1. holy fuck, i didn't see charles injury before but damn, that's a pretty bad cut. not upset at the volk vs dagastan #2404920 rematch but hope volk wins.

2. not surprised at the paulo costa change, when i saw paulo's elbow, i was thinking "there's no way that's gonna fully heal within a month." and of course, paulo can't fight. i have mixed feelings on usan vs chimaev. it's a fight i'll watch but interesting to see how that plays out

i was taken a bit back by this news on twitter. however, knowing that connor's name was attached to it doesn't surprise me that dana wants USADA to fuck off

USADA in their post announcing the separation also dropped the list of what stuff McGregor was on. The idea that the UFC would drop the veneer of being legit with drugs all to get a 35-36 year old Conor back in to fight an almost 40 Chandler is a bit insane to me.

Probably going to be like ONE or their in house testing program where they catch some low ranked guy who doesn’t matter but all their guys are ok is likely.

Imo it was more of a "If you're not willing to compromise you're not that valuable anymore"

Rather than a "Let Conor juice or die."

Of you can't let Conor headline Ufc 300 then a contract with you is not worthy anymore.

Who could have thought RIZIN (or ONE) would become the cleanest major MMA organization. RIZIN recently suspended Minoru Kimura for steroid use, and Kimura was their top kickboxing guy who was knocking out everyone unconscious.

I have no complaint for the fact we'll see the next gen TRTor or PRIDE Wandrei on UFC, but it's such a cringe how corrupt they are.
