So apparently Derek Brunson is gone from the UFC despite having had a fight scheduled on the November card. Something weird going on there.

Am I the only one who isn't upset about the draw decision last night? Shevchenko has basically held up the entire division for years and I think enough time has passed to let new people rise through the ranks.

So long as they don't book a 3rd fight it's alright. Couldn't help herself going for that stupid women's head and arm throw in the 5th so her not winning is entirely on her.

Blanchfield probably mops up either her or Grasso so it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't mind Grasso keeping the belt for a year or two. I would love to see Blanchfield fight her though.

UFC 5 comes out October 27, 2023. Judging by the gameplay and who's behind it, I can imagine launch will be nothing but bullshit

  • using game industry technology but can't figure out how to not fuck up izzy's face
  • the real impact system seems nice on paper but knowing how UFC4 went, i'm more than likely expecting a lot of bullshit when it comes to that
  • same with doctor stoppages. however if they manage to not fuck that up, dope addition to the game
  • the octagon looks better than the last game, can really see all the blood mixed with PRIME and ESPN
  • the new submission system is interesting, would love to see more information on it. i didn't mind the UFC4 submission system as much as others, but I think it's too bland and repetitive
  • i hope the replays are better than UFC4 cause those are dogshit
  • will you finally add TKO instead of a ref stopping me and boom it's considered a "knockout"
  • career mode looks promising but if it's anything like UFC3 which was too easy, and UFC4 which was better than UFC3 but not by a big margin. it's kinda like would you rather get shit on or pissed on

Sorry for double posting but this video that EA released with YouTuber Martial Mind has gave interesting details regarding UFC 5 and some of the takeaways made me laugh

Instead of using the complicated buttons from UFC 4 of X and Square to do a uppercut, you now hold down the right trigger and Square to do a uppercut.

Also, the clenching is the same button presses as the uppercuts from UFC 4. Game breaking technology EA

The submission system is essentially pick your own submission type. FOR DA FURST TIME IN UFC HISTORY EA REMOVED MINIGAMEZ FROM DA SUBMISSION. and if you’re defending a submission, you pick your own defense as well. Martial says “now some people may be like oh this is too simple for submissions. well they took that opinion into account and added a submission health bar. if your fighter has high defense stats, you can atleast defend atleast 3 submissions before insta submitting”

The one thing I will say that is pretty cool is they added more animations and abilities to ground and pound.

Here’s some footage from the beta playthroughs

-Jiri v Pereira announced as co-main to Jones-Miocic. Inject this into me now.
-Edwards v Colby for December. Hate Colby for being an inactive rank sitter in a stale division that needs movement. Please lose. Already have our chad American shit talking champ in Strickland.
-Pantoja v Royval 2. Royval should lose this unless that last fight took everything from Pantoja.

my two faves. first time in a minute i've been interested in a LHW match. i somehow feel like jiri is gonna win via some weird ass shit; alex can be pretty chinny, so if jiri hits him fro soe wack-ass angle, i can see him sleeping poatan
then again jiri could as easily get KO'd if alex finds the shot

sometimes i love MMA

Also a thing to consider is Jiri's shoulder and almost a year of inactivity. Until I see him moving around a bit, I'm going to lean Alex.

im kinda excited for this fight but have seen (somewhat) and heard Jiri is a good fighter. I like Pereira, so don't personally care who wins but would be cool if Pereira was LHW champ

it's weird for me personally because i like colby, don't care/know enough about edwards but even for me, someone who hasn't fought in a year gets a title shot is insane.

don't pay attention to the flyweight fighters unless it's a big name from there. i wanna learn more but idk, i don't see a whole bunch of flyweight fights unless they are unranked

Jiri is the best of light heavyweight personified in the stupidest way. He's a mad man who is all offence with his hands low and basically no defence outside of seeing shit and moving his head, and Pereira is Pereira, so it's almost guaranteed to be an absolutely chaotic fight.

Colby doesn't fight and imo does not deserve a title shot, so I want him to lose. Leon is boring as a personality and he's not very exciting as a fighter, even though he has brilliant moments.

UFC is shit at promoting men's flyweight so this is not a surprise. They threw all their promotional weight behind Moreno and he can't keep the belt. Pantoja is an insane brawler, very physical and one of the best back take fighters in the sport, and a long time flyweight mainstay (he's the guy in a division who fights everyone and never drops out the rankings, but rarely if ever makes it to a title shot, until he did and won the belt).

Royval is an insane long and tall guy volume striker and scrambler. He's like a small Tony Ferguson. This will be fun but it is marked by the fact that they have already fought in 2021, and Pantoja subbed him in 2 rounds in a very fun fight.
- if you haven't seen this fight, do, it's very fun.

If the UFC were competent, they would have built these guys up with Apex main events because Flyweights are almost always fun fights. And yet because they are manlets they get relegated to the bottom of the barrel positions in cards.

i came into UFC when it was 280, i know i'm a bit of a new fan but i've been somewhat closely following UFC since then. my introduction to him was him vs Ankalaev which i didn't see because i was at work but from what i remember, it was a pretty boring fight. i somewhat enjoyed him and the meme of him being in the snow

i completely agree with this statement. i enjoy colby's character but i don't think he deserves a title shot either. i don't personally know who should be WW champ but i don't think colby should be one now.

i like moreno, he's a fighter i somewhat follow on social media. i watched his last fight with Deiveson Figueiredo which i enjoyed. when Pantoja won his belt, that was my introduction to him. excited to see more from him

from what i remember, dana wanted to shut down the flyweight division. i don't think they should because talented people do compete there from time to time. i fucking love mighty mouse, i think his arm bar move was sick as shit, but i think it sucks that he got traded for ben askren

im worried if pereiras chin and power can hold at light heavyweight. I think that Izzy knockout changed Alex and made him a more tentative fighter than he usually is. He had blachowic rocked a few times and seemed scared to go in for the kill probably because he didn’t wanna get rope a doped again. Now I understand that you want to take it easy in a division you’ve never fought in before especially against a killer like Jan, and that despite the fact that Alex’s a ufc champion, he’s still low key a prospect given that he doesn’t have many fights in the ufc and experience with fighters that aren’t just stand up strikers. But I was still a little discouraged about his performanc. If he does the same against Jiri it’s not gonna be a fun fight and I’ll doubt he’ll win tbh

You need to watch Jiri vs Glover. Without exaggeration, I think it's the best fight of this generation

His fight against Reyes has one of the most incredible KO's I've seen. It actually has 2 KO's, cuz Reyes sleeps him with an up-kick and jiri is unconscious for like 0.3 seconds but then wakes up. Great fight to illustrate how insane Jiri is
