You can have your opinion on Pride Fighting (and its probably objectively wrong) and the fact that it was being backed by Yakuza money for a majority of its existence but at least they broke the bank for guys like Rulon Gardner and Naoya Ogawa.

UFC is top of the Mountain but they'll always be bush league comparatively.

Also, I don't think it's fair to say ONE outright sucks. Sure, their MMA is incredibly top heavy but they're doing great shit with their kickboxing and Muay Thai divisions.

Superbon/Allazov was a legit monumental fight rankings wise and their proposed Openweight Muay Thai Grand Prix sounds fucking nuts. Just thinking of see Rodtang going up against a 170 pounder is insane and the sicko in me is all for it.

Francis Ngannou on his UFC departure:
TL;DW

He called for Jon Jones for two years; UFC locks down its 'independent contractors'; he wants a big money boxing match (Tyson Fury) and then do MMA again.

Anyone who says Francis was scared of Jones is smoking crack. Dana always says the same shit.
I hope Frankie makes disgusting cash fighting Fury, honestly.

Also, anyone watch slapfight? I didn't, because I'm not someone who regularly engages in eating glue, but I'm interested to know if it was as much of a shit fest as I expect.

They have very sketchy weigh in protocols, where it's all behind closed doors. Supposedly for "fighter safety" but more likely so they can allow the ones they want to make weight easier.

They also lost $111 million in 2021: https://frontofficesports.com/one-championship-reports-111m-in-losses-for-2021/

oh yeah their financials make no fucking sense at all. chatri throws away money like he is allergic to it. literally the only guess i have is that one is a money laundering front or something. they should have gone bankrupt years ago
one's mma isn't great. they only really have a few world class fighters, most of their roster is quite mid. but their kickboxing and muay thai is so fucking good. the superbon v allazov fight was so kino (as said above: literally the two best pfp in the sport fighting one another). nong-o fought ramazanov yesterday, too, and it was one of the most enjoyable fights ive seen in a while.

if one completely abandoned mma and just focused on kickboxing/muay thai like K1 or Glory, i'd eat that shit up

I have no idea how they're still in business. Chatri is either laundering money or somehow has a bunch of rich people believing that he can make MMA (and OneFC) mainstream in Asia

It was a very brutal but fun fight.
Fun in spots but I think he played it safe. A lot of top control without getting too much off. Figgy looked like he lost a step, which he has done so in his last few fights. Now moving up to Bantamweight, which I don’t think will be successful. That division is stacked, and flyweight for the most part, isn’t.

Think Moreno hangs around the top for a while. Don’t trust many of the other top flyweight fighters. Pantoja has also looked past it when the fight goes long, others are flakey. The most interesting flyweights were cut or traded off when the UFC decided to end the division, before changing their minds. Horuguchi, Pettis, DJ.

It figures. Budget cuts and fake fixed fighting is a bitch.

How long til Izzy finally realizes that he can't do it?

happy for my boy burns. wish he'd gotten this fight years ago, back when literally anyone on earth gave a fuck about masvidal, tho. he'd been asking for it for ages.
if leon hypothetically beats kamaru again (really doubt it) i can definitely see gilbert beating him

The new branding will include ownership of the Octagon’s well-known ‘Red’ and ‘Blue’ corners, which will be re-named PRIME Hydration Recovery Zones. PRIME’s corner branding will also be included on the newly launched Octagon-shaped Cornermen Stool,

The absolute and unironic state of the UFC. Is there anything they don't have an "official x of the UFC" sponsorship of yet?
