Uncharacteristically aggressive swang and bang performance from Allen. He's usually very measured, fights behind a nice southpaw jab, makes adjustments as the fight progresses, usually has good shot selection, and has competitive fights that he clearly wins. Seems like the O2/London crowd might have made him decide to go for it and throw lots of haymakers. Would have been nice to see some body work instead of all head hunting, but it worked for him here.
Called out Kattar in the interview, which has banger/fight night main event written all over it. I would like to think that the ever tough Kattar won't get finished by such a sloppy flurry by Allen, so he's going to go at it with the usual measured performance he normally does.
I think the haymakers also come from Allen's lack of respect for Hooker's defense. Like we've probably seen before, Hooker doesn't block and has very little head movement, which gave him trouble in the Poirier fight.
And yes, I do think Allen does something measured vs Kattar. I expect him to stay behind the jab and use his hand speed to set up clinches and takedowns. It'll be one of those UDs that gets Allen a performance bonus, I'd say.
