Apache pilots wear panties. Cobra guys are the real men when it comes to attack helos.
I think you mean the Cheyenne:

Didnt that thing get discontinued? RIP along with the A-10 Warthog
No the Little Bird is still being built. Also the Warthog is based.
Ugly and retarded. Cobra better.
The best Cobra variant is the Viper, change my mind:

Carries rockets, anti tank missiles including the new JAGM, Sidewinders on the wingtip, and that glorious M197 20mm rotary gun. Also is smol, so hard to hit compared to a Apache.
We all know that utility helicopters with a bunch of guns and rockets strapped to them are the coolest attack helicopters.

We all know the best of these was the Chinook gunship

My very last flying gig was being a third party contractor for Cessna flying a suped up Caravan that they wanted to sell to Chile, Columbia and the USAF to then sell to the ANA. I flew them from the factory to Southern Cal for Rockwell to inspect, then to Tucson for TI and some other defense guys to observe while I made turns around Arizona City and the YPG.

A simple 4 month job but after every flight I got debriefed by a USAF light Colonel asking about every little detail. Mind you, this one wasnt equipped with weapons or real ELINT shit, it was just a caravan with upgraded structural and a bigger engine with a wider prop than normal. They ended up not selecting that design and went with an essentially bone stock Cessna instead because every single pilot and third party engineer kept pointing out making the plane stronger and faster made it heavier, and that made short field landings on shitty surfaces that much more destructive. The only things that needed beefing up were the gear struts.

The AF test pilot who was helping run the study and I became friends, so when the first Caravans got to Iraq he was an IP, their very first female pilot managed to get three written off in accidents in her first six months. Two she ran in to parked trucks, one she stood up on the brakes with while aborting a takeoff after she had passed V¹ and blew the tires off of before getting a prop strike and sliding on the surviving strut. The entire time her dad was writing to every journalist he could about how great his daughter was and that they needed to make her a movie star

ISIS killed her entire family years later, real sad shit, but as my guy tells it, that line was probably ready to end, anyhow

The ML and MLA were good enough/ were what the jet should have been day 1.

The first versions, especially the export models, were TRASH.
True and honest post. I wonder what road Soviet air doctrine would have gone down if they hadn't chickened out of developing the Ye-8. The Mig-23's decade of teething problems really put them behind in the air game for good. This probably would have happened anyway because America #1, but the concept of the Mig-23 as a missile truck completely reliant on external systems for situational awareness didn't pan out.

When this thread was made, somewhere, a countdown started. It is counting down to the day someone leaks classified information on this thread to win an argument on the internet.
I shall watch this thread with great interest.

The Ye-8 was the J-10 before it was cool.

A promising design but possibly not enough of a leap over Mig-21 to justify it.

It looks a LOT better than the 23 that's for sure
