The OG Xbox had pressure sensitive buttons, which is why the volleyball felt worse in Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 over Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

Thank you so much! I had completely forgotten about the forgotten pressure sensitivity of the xbox controller, DOA3 even based the moves around that.

MGSV had the perfect opportunity to bring this mechanic back. After all the two locations are Afghanistan where the the sand niggers are trying to get the cold niggers to leave them alone and Africa where rival PMCs are fighting proxy battles. Plus XOF is involved with both of these conflicts (another odd thing is Despite XOF being the main antagonists you only fight them in a couple missions. Hell the game could’ve gone one step forward and allowed you to deploy your own men to,actively fight alongside you these scenarios. Maybe even have other players send their own troops to either help or hinder you.

On another note I found out that David Hayter once voiced captain America and I finally realized why Canderous from KOTOR sounds so familiar
iirc he voiced Cap in a few of the 90s Marvel cartoons

You know,I imagined...was giving Snake accelerated aging a good idea? And I dont mean it just on a narrative standpoint but logical (since the whole "clones age faster" thing was possibly debunk).
How would MGS4 go if Snake was still on his prime (he was around his early 40s, still in his prime, especially for a Snake)

On a thematic level very little would have to change, 40s would be a reasonable age where a Superhero Soldier would need to be considering retirement.

I think aging Snake to be an elderly man though was neccessary as PS3 level of visuals were just not up to the level of conveying that a middle aged man was emotionally & physically broken. And one of my favorite scenes in MGS4 is when Snake meets Meryl in Europe with his charming youthful Snake facial camo only to have the tech betray him and reveal the "Lee Van Cleef" face.

The in-game explanation doesn't matter and makes no sense, the real reason is that Kojima wanted to fuck with people. You do play as Solid again, so it's not Sons of Liberty, but unlike in 1 he's not too great looking and cancer-ridden sounding. Kojima knew full well people wanted to play as young and badass Solid, so you don't.

Considering Solidus had aged faster than the other Snakes (with his being faster because he was the perfect one), I don't think it was too outside the realm of possibility for that to eventually happen to Solid Snake. I never questioned it because there was at least some precedent for it, and, well, my perception is colored because I started after 4 came out so it seemed logical to me.

I feel like thematically it wouldn't change considering, as @Cardenio said, 40 is getting up there for a soldier. And besides that, Snake was treated as getting old as early as MGS1. But on another level, I think that having an elderly Snake drives the point home. There is a large focus on aging in the game, from Snake being completely out of touch with the modern world to Shadow Moses falling into disrepair. Having a middle-aged Snake that only looks slightly older than his appearance in MGS2 wouldn't have the same impact I feel.

I assumed it was Kojima's insurance to make sure this was the final adventure of Snake without having to kill him outright. I liked the moments that came with Snake's age like when Meryl and Naomi first see him and are horrified by how much he's aged. I even like when you crouch and Snake sometimes has back pain.

Physically I don't think a young Snake would have made too much of a difference since the suit he wore was designed to pick up the slack for him. I guess he could have beaten up Ocelot better if was young. Mentally might have been a different story. I imagine the psyche gauge is a result of Old Snake and having trouble keeping his mind alert and focused on the mission.

That was always weird to me. Solidus was perfect, so you think the accelerated aging would either happen much later in his life or not happen at all (it doesnt help that the project had them being born naturally instead of artificially grown like in Star Wars, which you think would make them age normally).
40 is getting up there for a soldier.
Perhaps for a non-Snake soldier. Big Boss was doing his thing into his late 50's and it was stated that " Age never really slowed him down"

See I always thought the opposite. If Snake's body was programmed to age rapidly to prevent his genetic code from falling into the wrong hands, then it would make sense for Solidus' body to age even more rapidly because he's Big Boss' perfect genetic match, meaning there's a bigger danger if his body fell into the wrong hands.

Yeah, I'll give you that one. I sorta forgot about BB when I said that.

I think the bigger question is why Snake didn't look like Big Boss at his advanced age when Solidus did.

He's got Big Boss's "recessive genes" seems to be the answer.

I dont know why a lot of people think thisx the game never says that snake has the recessive genes, it just says that he is the inferior clone, they literally say that liquid was lied to so why wouldnt the lie also apply to the recessive genes being the inferior ones as well

It's been a while so I don't remember the exact wording. I assumed they said dominant=superior/recessive=inferior, which in the end turns out to be bullshit. It still plays into the theme the game was using that DNA is irrelevant to the kind of person you are and dominant doesn't mean superior.

Are they still doing the live action film?
Supposedly, but it's been ages since we've heard anything about it and I don't think they've even cast it yet. The director seems genuinely respectful of the material, though, and I honestly wouldn't mind Oscar Isaac as Snake. He was really cool in that interview.

I replayed mgs1 and twin snakes just a couoke of months ago, in both liquid only says that he's got the flawed recessive genes, which is most likely true as blonde hair is a recessive trait
My problem is just the false correlation people make as you say of recessive=inferior and dominant=superior

Hong Chau could be Mei Ling but I'd prefer somebody a bit older.

When it comes to the metal gear series, my favorite is MGS3. I found the start of Darkness for Big Boss to be well told and you feel the sorrow (hur hur hur) for all the shit he was put through. MGS4 is a big mixed bag for me. I loved it when it came out but over time, it has gotten worse and worse for me (hey, lets ditch the sneaking thorugh a battlefiled after only two missions) and the ending was a confusing mess.
MGSV on the other hand, ruined the serie for me. Excellent gameplay but an awful awful story and a waste of what could have been. Motherbase is overall, usless to walk around on, as there is not much you can do there. Punch your men can only bring so much joy, and the waste of the settings (Angola and Afghanistan) is also annoying. There should have been battles between the diffrent PMC in africa and fighting between the soviet and the Mujhadiens but nope. Didn't happend at all. You have this huge maps and nothing do in them apart from "consripting" soliders to your PMC. Most of the storymisions were boring as sin and the story in general was shit. A whole nothing in general.
Also, I think should have let you bring some of your pmc on the mission with you so they could do anything other sit on their asses doing nothing.

Can Oscar Isaac do the voice though?

Much as I enjoyed MGS V, the lack of fights between African PMCs in Angola and the lack of conflict between the Soviet and Mujhaadiens beyond one or two mentions in missions gave off the idea of what could have been. Motherbase was pretty much a boring slog to go through beyond needing to take a shower and doing some shooting range missions.

MGS3 really was one of the better games in the series since it managed to take the game further in having you go through the wilderness before you could go through indoor environments. MGS4 also made stealth something of a joke for me since by the time you reach the final area of the game, you could just equip your best gun and go crazy on the FROGS as you try to make your way through.
