Konami have a strange aversion to traditional multiplayer game modes, always trying to reinvent the wheel. Previous MGO's have been great, they KNOW how to make them good, they just aren't right now. Give me TDM, CTF, that bounty mode from V, you don't need to create a new contrived game mode with every new entry, especially if they are all to be discarded later for the next experiment. Fox Hunt blows. Sad. Expect radio silence before they pull the plug between 2 and 4 years from now.
Their drive to make silly game modes sometime pays off but as you said, they forget by the next game. Solo Sneaking from MGO² is a proto-PUBG in all its mechanics but back in 2008.
More than game modes, it's the depth of mechanics that are missing. Sticking C4 in people's back, the body slam/Mk2 combo, the overall skills avalaible to players in MGO² were all gone by the time TPP's MGO came around.

Replaying Delta this weekend. It was my first experience with MGS3 and it immediately became one of my favorite games. Kojgungus' magnum opus, and I love 4 and 5 too.

Shamefully I still need to play 1 and 2.

Wasn't aware he was Krauser and Capt. Qwark also.

After the trash fire of Re4 Remakes voice cast missing the mark by a mile, knowing the original Krauser is dead feels bad man. Jim Ward could take a simple one note role and make it memorable.

Seriously, do you remember any lines from the Re4 Remake? I still hear "classic" Krausers line "Well if it isn't the bitch in the red dress." Everytime I see Ada. The Re4 Remake dude just hissed out the word rookie like some wierd sex offender and called it a day.

It was kind of mind-blowing they managed to find an actress that was even worse than the one in remake 2 for Ada. Typical cheapass capcom refusing to use union actors to save a few pennies.

But yeah, Granin was one of the most memorable side characters in Snake Eater. The significance of his first scene is so understated. You really start to hate Volgin after you see what he does to him.

As if the CalorieMate and instant noodle product placement wasn't awkward enough.
Caloriemate was at least unknown to the west at the time. I remember buying them fairly often in Japan any time I needed to travel long distance by bus from my town. The Doritos and Moutain Dew in Peace Walker was ridiculous but at least absent from the American release.

Was there ever any deep lore about why there were so many FAMAS in Shadow Moses? That was a US operated facility if I recall, wouldn't M4 or M16 rifles be more appropriate? You could argue that the terrorists brought them in, but you find one in an armory which implies the soldiers were using it for themselves before the attack.

Shadow Moses was a civilian base, right? Baker could have ordered them in out of preference. He didn't seem to be operating with a full deck.
Spoilered because you asked for an explanation. It's not mentioned anywhere in the games AFAIK.

FAMAS is such a weird choice, you would have to go out of your way to order a meme gun like that in large quantities. I know it's only in the game because Kojima thought it looked cool, but it makes zero sense looking at it rationally.

Liquid forgot to also disguise the guns.
But the real reason is that by the time mgs 1 was being developed they didn't have a military advisor at the time and the FAMAS was easy to model and recognize with the ps1 blockiness.

See that part right there? That's where you made your first mistake. In a "Kojima Game", things being rational is usually just a happy coincidence,

The games are way more enjoyable when you just looks at some stupid shit Kojima wrote and go "Ok... I guess that's how that works."
The first 3 Solid games made more sense because they still had someone tard wrangling him. It was with 4 onwards that the games went full retard mode.
I should point out that the Gameboy Color port had a Galil as the rifle the enemies and player used, and that's such a better choice.
