Georgy boy tried to kill him directly in Shadow Moses.
Did Snavid know all of that prior to MGS4, though? It seems like there's enough deniability; Solidus could say they were only trying to neutralize Liquid, or that the POTUS wasn't aware of the part where Solid was who they sent. He could have just said he trusted the military who were handling Shadow Moses, my bad. From Solid's end of the codec, there was obviously something fishy going on in command already.

I just think George could have explained his "I hate the Patriots" platform enough to get at least some cooperation, even if David disagreed on the specifics. At the very least, if George wanted any labs or plants destroyed and they happened to be making nuclear-capable bipedal robots, then he'd have someone in his address book.

Nastasha had all the deets up to that point, not the A.I. part as that was super duper secret, but absolutely that George was working for them directly, Ames basically spilled everything to her out of some sort of guilt or sympathy due to their past marriage in his little disc he gave her.

Oh shit. I completely forgot FOX Hunt drops in like... 45 minutes.

This guy's gonna be streaming it, I've liked this guy's stuff in the past.

Yeah, Solidus killed Raidens parents just to prove to himself he wasn't a puppet, (or something like that I don't remember exactly what he said.) Guy had issues and I would have loved to have seen a prequel game about his time as a warmonger before he became President. The comic of MGS2 actually goes into it a bit more, but its mostly the child soldier stuff.

Also Fox hunt might be nice, odd to drop that around Halloween though. Figured they would have something Castlvania released instead. Konami is run by freaking skitzos man.

Where are people getting that Solidus wanted to nuke Shadow Moses? To my memory, the strike was called off because Campbell managed to go over Houseman's head and talk to him directly. Even if he was lying to the Colonel about everything being Houseman's idea his goal was to recover REX, as revealed by President Johnson in the following game:

"As a result, he succeeded in obtaining REX and the data on the warhead. But in doing so, he ended up revealing the existence of both REX and the Genome Army." - President Johnson

Maybe In the Darkness of Shadow Moses contradicts this. I admit I haven't read it since before Substance came out.

People really think Snake would have worked with Solidus if Solidus had just asked him?
Well not after the events of MGS2 started, no.

But after MGS1, there's a global conspiracy you just found out about, it's just you and this weeb and a handful of other people fighting it (specifically the war robot construction side), and then you get contacted by a super-connected guy who also hates the conspiracy, has credible personal reasons for it, and can offer actionable intel. It'd be pretty tempting to take advantage of that. President Sears could probably have gotten some expensive military hardware to fall off the back of a truck, now and then.

Philanthropy wouldn't be excited to invite Solidus to Christmas, or take orders from him, and Solidus probably wouldn't be giddy to spill his EMP/distraction/locate and murder 12 guys plan, but a working relationship along the lines of "here are some leads I can't be seen pursuing/if you check them out, give me copies of the data" wouldn't be impossible.

There was no global conspiracy after MGS1. Snake and Otacon weren't even really "aware" of the Patriots until after the Tanker incident. Philanthropy's battle wasn't with The Patriots, it was with Rogue Metal Gears.

Ocelot sold the Rex Data which caused the Rogue Metal Gears in the first place. He did this while he was still "working" with Solidus. So it stands to reason Solidus wanted the Rogue Metal Gears out there, either to destabilize the Patriots and/or to have an income for his war against the Patriots.

Snake and Solidus did not share goals.

I tried it, not happy with how bullet spongey everyone is TBH. Feels like the Benny Hill theme should be be playing every time you get in to a close range acrobatics show with an enemy.

Bet you 100 debased Rothschild notes that if they made a mode like Spies vs. Mercs, people would eat it up. And I bet you anything it would be more enjoyable than hide and seek...

All they had to do was TDM. That was like cocaine on the original. I remember how OP the M16 was online.
