Got bored and started Ground Zeroes. It's even worse than I remember. Kiefer is so dull and alien to the rest of the cast and I don't understand the nostalgia for anyone besides Big Boss, and even he is the worst character.

In the call of duty zombies (I think black ops 4) he was fucking amazing, but you're absolutely right. Kojima just wanted a big name because he's a god and can do no wrong or some gay shit.I have no real problem with Kiefer VA in Ground Zero and Phantom Pain.
The biggest issue I have with his VA, is that He is not given any chance to show off his voice work.
Getting rid of Hayter for Kiefer and not using Kiefers acting skill is just.... stupid.
Something went really wrong with the entire gz/v project. Me think kojimbo fucked around too much with the Fox engine and forgot to actually make a game for itGot bored and started Ground Zeroes. He got the big tiddy sniper, he had his OC donut steel zombie super soldiers, a barely speaking main character, and most importantly his name in the credits of every fucking mission. And he still couldn't be arsed to "finish" the game (lmao more like he scammed Konami).Something went really wrong with the entire gz/v project. IIRC the justification literally was "she's American born so she wouldn't have an accent, giving her an accent was a mistake". Though I'm not sure if it was Zimmerman that said that or some other producer. So why did Kris Zimmerman suddenly decide those were bad?
Why make such subtle changes to the localization?
Setting aside how Skullface is basically a Jeff Dunham character, there’s no good explanation for why he’s raging at Zero like it’s personal.Skullface Is fucking retarded.
I mean they explain it, such as it is, beyond the simple fact that Zero is English, and Skull Face hates the English Language, Skull Face especially hates the very concept of a Unified world, which Zero holds as his ideal because he thought that's what The Boss wanted, and what he probably wanted too, Skull Face very much believes the opposite.Setting aside how Skullface is basically a Jeff Dunham character, there’s zero explanation for why he’s raging at Zero like it’s personal.
And his whole worship of The Boss is so forced. In PO and PW Big Boss is still building his myth, but by MGS5? Everybody’s still stuck on nostalgia for The Boss?? Come on.

The worst of it is her philosophy isn't even that deep. "There's no such thing as a permanent enemy" holy shit, slow down Kojima I can't keep up. The fact that all the chaos of the latter 20th century is caused by a small group of people somehow misinterpreting this very simple premise just makes them all look retarded. And his whole worship of The Boss is so forced. Zero spent decades building the global machine to maintain (what he saw as) The Boss' Will. It makes sense that at some point he grew into passion for that work and for that vision, not waking up every morning thinking "better create a monument for the Ultimate Friendzone while I'm waiting for my brain to demyelinate."In PO and PW Big Boss is still building his myth, but by MGS5? Everybody’s still stuck on nostalgia for The Boss?? Come on.
And that's not a judgement on The Boss; she's late 40s, hella depressed about how everything's going, keeps getting used as a pawn, allowed to keep neither personal nor professional connections, had her hand forced into killing her babydaddy a couple years ago.The worst of it is her philosophy isn't even that deep.
its more that she was THAT respected and beloved, she had way more Charisma than John ever did, everyone was awed by her, even fucking Volgin, a complete piece of shit, viewed her with barely contained fear and reverence. The worst of it is her philosophy isn't even that deep. This is a very sympathetic take, and I can see it to a degree. But when The Boss continues to blindly follow her orders as her superiors keep stabbing her in the back it just makes her look dumb. Say what you like about Big Boss, Liquid and Solidus, they at least knew when enough was enough. And that's not a judgement on The Boss; she's late 40s, hella depressed about how everything's going, keeps getting used as a pawn, allowed to keep neither personal nor professional connections, had her hand forced into killing her babydaddy a couple years ago.
She's trying to pass a last message on to her mentee Jack in hopes he could maybe have a better life than hers, and it's a perfectly reasonable deathbed philosophical nugget for that purpose.
I get it. That's certainly what they were going for, and I'm being a misery guts. It's just that, apart from being really really good at beating people up, she doesn't really have anything other than middle school philosophy and "deep" one-liners ("There's no such thing as luck on the battlefield" l,mao what?).its more that she was THAT respected and beloved, she had way more Charisma than John ever did, everyone was awed by her, even fucking Volgin, a complete piece of shit, viewed her with barely contained fear and reverence.
Then after her death everyone tore the world apart to try and appease the void of her absence.
They had her Son, she never saw him again, at least she thinks she never did, she was their patsy forever because of that. This is a very sympathetic take, and I can see it to a degree. She also nukes a base full of non-combatants but the game just kind of skims over that.
It's telling that the "good guys" are the ones who just keep their heads down and get used by the villains (Snake, Raiden) while the "bad guys" are the ones who said "fuck that".
I thought the tragedy was that she wasn't blindly following orders--she was painfully aware of what was happening. The Boss and the Cobras gathered at Tselinoyarsk for a suicide mission, but welcoming it like a fistful of Grey Foxes. But when The Boss continues to blindly follow her orders as her superiors keep stabbing her in the back it just makes her look dumb.
The Boss was just trying to get her act together so she could get her kid back from the government. Give her an ankle monitor and Cookie Monster pajama pants and maybe we could recognize the timeless nature of her plight.the boss was a stuck up bitch.
Yes, that is the case, I mean they make it painfully obvious, they were all going out in one last big fight.I thought the tragedy was that she wasn't blindly following orders--she was painfully aware of what was happening. You are the most fucktarded person posting in this thread, like if someone created a homunculus who would only be able to interact with a fandom it was instilled to like, in the most annoying way possible.id follow my boy big boss to hell and back. the boss was a stuck up bitch.
venom doesnt exists.
I mean by that time anyone with a brain had fled, I dunno if you remember this, but there was this big fucking GIANT ROBOT FIGHT that just happened and all hell broke loose. It's a blink and you miss it moment at the end, but right before The Boss gives her final monologue she uses the Davey Crockett one last time to nuke grozni grad. I don't know how she does it from that flower field but apparently that's what that explosion is right before she says the line "Life's end. Tragic isn't it?"
So yeah she did nuke a base with scientist and blue collar workers in it for some reason. Plots kinda all over the place.

Hey, Solid explicitly got a nanomachine injection so he could tolerate the cold; maybe if you set an EMP off at Shadow Moses, amid all the chaos Liquid Snake would put on a sweater. There are much stupider uses of technology in this franchise.

That'd be another fun concept for an interstitial game. They run into each other when they're all trying to track down the same AI girlfriend; bad news about your LDR, guys, but now you have comrades in arms.
