Just getting into mgs4 for the first time I really likes 2 3 and 5. I’m not sure yet on 4 the enemies feel really dumb so far but I remember it being similar to this in 2 and 3 but it’s been forever.

Missing the key element of 3 and 4, especially 4 also raping the lore and discourse around the games so disqualified.
I'll die on this hill but the series should have ended with 4. I enjoyed the games up until 4, then Peace Walker came in and butchered the lore and whoever decided to have that abysmal mission system should be erased from existence.

PW did have some saving graces unlike GZ and TPP though, so there's that. Namely the art style of the cutscenes, Strangelove, Kaz, Cécile and that's about it.

The series should have ended with 1 and 2. Kojima was forced back with 3 and thus began the lore shattering retcons and erosion of the intriguing plotpoints 1 and 2 and even a fucking gameboy color game had. I'll throw MGSV a bone for trying to tie in the original MG duology even if it failed hard and pissed off fans. Otherwise as beloved as 3 is, its where all the intrigue was gutted. I argue the contrary, PW had a shit anime tier storyline and no crawling, but had crouch walk.. so retarded. GZ and TPP tried to pull it back to a more serious approach with the usual absurdities. None of these entries are bad games at all though, the storylines fell off after 2 though. I would love to see a fan or someone remake Peace Walker in the Fox Engine with expanded gameplay.

I've beaten the dead horse over and over on why I dislike MGSV so I won't reiterate it.

But the point I prefer to acknowledge is why it's still looked at so fondly by many. Like they point out specific scene and I'm like... what? You mean the scene (insert blinding lens flare everywhere) scene was iconic?

"But if Kingdom of the..."

We fucking heard you. Stop filling comment sections on YT of songs you THINK was in the game.

While it's still revered by the lowest common denominator, I think time has long since caught up with it on how unfulfilling a MGS it was. I was already checked out of the series since PW when it turned into creepy anime pedo bullshit. Hot Coldman? Singing robots? The Boss AI? LOL

Here's a hill I'll die on. Nobody hated MPO until Kojima voiced his opinion on it so then all the faggots had to retroactively hate it.

Portable Ops was great

I love PO. Kojima hates on it and yet Kaz fucking mentions it in Peace Walker during the first mission.

"Remember San Hyeronimo."

He's only assblasted because it was successful without him. Same with MGRR, although he wasn't negative about it because his team was in the preliminary stages of developing it.

It's almost as if, these games being successful weren't all due to one guy and it was a collaborative effort.

What happened to Delta? I thought it was coming out last year

I assume it will be a first half of this year game if I had to guess. Possibly might get a release date soon as Sony and Mircosoft like to have presentations at the beginning of the year.

I dont know what happened but for some reason Kojima fell in love with long grindy mission based gameplay after MGS4. MGSV, Peace Walker, and Death Stranding all seem to have piled on the padding and the expense of good pacing and and focused story telling. I loved MGS 1-4 because I could replay them in a reasonable amount of time and enjoy the stories again.

The thing I hate the most about MGSV praise is how they all blame it on Konami and how the game is unfinished.

No sane, intelligent being wants to play a fucking 60 hour MGS game. You want to play it in one sitting or two. Not dump a fucking week into it. It's a jarring and unneeded formula. You cannot sacrifice plot for padded gameplay. It's sacrilege in this series. MGS4 is clumsy and shitty, but I've come to accept it as "The End." I'm glad MGRR didn't tarnish it and it can exist without undoing the previous games.

I'm forgetting the timeline. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think MGSV took five years? To only sell the last I've checked, like six million copies. That's pathetic for that turn around time. TLOU1 sold twenty million in it's first year on one system. MGSV was put on several. It's "success" doesn't really wash. They shit Ground Zeroes out early because the game was taking too long.

What we know about what was going to be added into the game, wouldn't have improved anything. It was always intended to be the same handful of missions over and over, in the same two boring sandboxes, with dull boss fights. It's just any reason to not lay blame on Kojima for not getting it done. Konami got sick of his self suck fests with development and tossed him a decade too late.

This isn't a "trust me, bro" comment. But I remember several years ago an interview with whoever the composer was for V, mention they believe Kojima intentionally stalled the game since he wanted more profit sharing. When Jap devs all take the same cut, but he wanted more.

EDIT FOUND IT but take it with a grain of salt. Kojima is a closeted gay melomaniac so it's canon imo.

I've been vocal enough about what a faggot I think Kojima is. But it's more his diehard retarded fans I cannot stand anymore since to this day he remains blameless for letting one of the biggest series in our lifetimes die because he wanted to hang around D level celebs.

Incorrect, the grindyness of base building games has it's charm. You're bound to spend more than "one sitting or two" even in something like PO and that's a fantastic game. Not everyone shares your hateboner for TPP.

Grinding games are fun, when they're made to be fun. PW is fun, because it was copied from MPO and it works in a handheld format. MGSV is not fun because it's completely thoughtless with it's design.

Cool story bro, doesn't detract from what I said
BTW Survive was a fantastic game and nothing will change this. Fight me

Originally hated mgsv ending but after discovering the V is grey fox theory I’m starting to warm up to it a bit. Anyone else like this theory or do you think it’s too autistic even for kojima?
V as in the medic? I don't buy in to the arguement of Portable Ops being non-canon so it's hard for me to see it, given Grey Fox's role in that game.
