Originally hated mgsv ending but after discovering the V is grey fox theory I’m starting to warm up to it a bit. Anyone else like this theory or do you think it’s too autistic even for kojima?
V is way too old and non-Vietnamese (in certain retcons) for it to work; the theory is less plausible than Chico-->Quiet.

I dunno, I just said that I don't consider this theory as canon since there is a mod that adds Grey Fox(PO variant too I believe), which means he cannot be V.
Canon is whatever you want, if it makes things more enjoyable for you. I almost feel like PO was an experiment: how true to the setting and story can you make a game yet still get people to agree it's not canon by simply stating it. Hell IMO PO's story is a better bridging point between MGS3 and MG1 than PW or MGSV.

Don't get me started on new management releasing cheap out of touch drivel and claiming that to be the real canon also. Nah mate, you don't get to ruin it like that.

True, I am having a lot of fun making Bethesda fanboys mad by pointing out their Fallout games and TV show aren't canon, but I just don't see any games presenting a problem with the canon for MG franchise. Maybe we can ignore Metal Gear Solid 4 and let things end off on MGS2 or MGR since that whole game was completely unnecessary but that's about it. I don't see how Portable Ops, Peace Walker and Ghost Babel can't live side-by-side together.
Oh btw Snake's Revenge and NES Metal Gear can go to hell, but they're so out of touch with the rest of the franchise I don't think anybody cares. Haven't played ACID games so I can't comment on them either.

ACID is non canon because it's weird and scary to me.

ghost babel is more difficult to fit in due to snake being called out of retirement and meeting mei ling for the first time twice, but it could fit in an abridged way.

Acid is a much more impossible. Snake in that gets pulled out of retirement 17 years later and is technically older then he was in MGS4

Maybe 1 if you squint and exercise a lot of stuff, but definitely not 2
snake dies at the end of acid 1 and gets cloned in 2, He isn't shown as dying in 1 proper though.

I remember that bullshit from back in the day. It's why I've always had a (see image) relationship with Quiet.

Koji would totally be the type to make a closet Tranny in a game to use it later as some kind of fanboy scheme to further ingratiate himself in HollyJew (something he's blatantly been trying to do since before MGSV).

I forgot the timeline, if Ghost Babel or Solid was supposed to take place first, but we can gloss over the Mei Ling thing and just say that Snake forgot or something. Other than that, everything does make sense. Always liked how Ghost Babel takes place in Outer Heaven itself, it makes for a good third Metal Gear game to round up 1 and 2.

That's what I meant; Quiet/Chico is a dumb rumor, and V/Gray Fox is even dumber than that.

A messed-up adult Chico in a cool poncho was a scrapped battle-buddy concept for MGSV, though, so that puts paid to him being Quiet.

A semi-popular theory at the time was that Ghost Babel was something like a VR training mission for Raiden. edit: taking place before MGS2

Aah, that might be it. I was going to say it with more certainty but it's an old, old memory after all and I started to hesitate.
Yeah being so long it's hard to recall the truth and I don't have the lore on lock like I used to. Which is ironic given it's what MGS2's whole theme is with Raiden with false memories.

Funny thing is that there is an actual VR mission mode in the game, which is pretty fun for what it is.
I do think this game is actually canon, it ties up MG1 and 2 really well like I said, before we move on to the actual Solid games. I almost forgot that Raiden did get his first appearance in this game. Maybe he should have been an actual prominent story character, so that his first introduction to the public wouldn't be so...disappointing.
