Crosspost from 8chan.moe thread:
An anon has posted what appears to be his written let's play + review for each title, as well as a final roundup at the end. Something similar was posted in the Fallout thread and also done by him, I am not sure if he does this regularly or not but I figured I might as well post it since content from that site is so rare to see these days. The format seems to be written in the form of screencaps of "Friday Night" threads, a tradition on /v/ where users post small blogs about their evening, it seems this user used his weekly posts to document playing thru the franchise in chronological order.

The image is too big so I am linking it over via catbox(suggest switching to it from imugr for your linking needs since they don't delete content out of the blue, very popular among imageboard users): https://files.catbox.moe/ljmhf7.png

Oh, and speaking of which, 4chan's /v/ is doing a "/v/ draws Snake Eater" project. If you're an artfag, feel free to contribute

Seems like they're doing an original animation based off Snake Eater's intro, where every anon claims and draws every individual frame. Will be interesting to see how the final product looks like.

A for effort as far as that reviewer goes, but his "reviews" offer nothing of substance. I almost stopped reading immediately when he said that MGS3 "trenscends[sic] a video game and becomes an experience." I like Snake Eater as much as the next man but jfc calm down. He also criticizes the original Metal Gear for not being "tactical espionage." Here is the Japanese box art:

Unless I'm mistaken (I don't speak Japanese) the katakana there says "TACTICAL ROLEPLAYING ADVENTURE GAME" which is close, but does not claim to feature "espionage." If you're going to tell me it's because it's the Japanese version, I would like to point out that the European release doesn't feature the words "tactical" or "espionage" at all.

It's unfair IMO to criticize a game for not being something it never claimed to be. A minor nitpick, but what else can you take from a review where 90 percent of the entries are "Ermagehrd BEST GAEM EVARR. IZ NOT A GAEM IZ AN EXPERIENZZZ!!"

Sign me up. I'm an expert with Photoshop, so MLG-style edits are up my alley

Those pressure buttons really fucked up MGS2 and MGS3 for future gens lmao
Its such a shame too. Once you get used to 3's controls they work so well to put you in snake's shoes. The tension of letting up on the button to not fire, leaning and aiming requiring so much use of your fingers you feel off balance. But even after that when you're used to it the degree of control you have over your character unmatched.

I just got to Bolshaya Past South and caught the Tsuchinoko since that spot has no animal spawns so it's the only thing you'll catch in the mouse trap. It runs really good, and while the aiming is now gross it's not awful and requires more mental preparation before you hold a guard up since you need remind yourself you need to use L3 if you don't want to shoot them. Using rifles is awful since you can't aim them at all with square since they immediately start firing. Drawing them with L3 is so fucking weird.

I booted up MGS2 just for a couple mins to see how it runs and it's not quite as fast as some of the cutscene transitions as MGS3 is but it's fine. I wanted to see how the deck would run with framerate. It "feels" like it runs better than HD col but I don't have that experience on lock like I do MGS3 since I didn't play it as much. We should be happy it can run this well at all on console since I've heard it's engine and mechanics were really weird and convoluted which is why making mods for it were never a thing until very recently with the 3D camera mod, which should've been in this. I have MGS2 Sub on PC and that runs better than anything else but you need to do surgery to get it that way and this seems like it runs pretty much on that level.

As far as PC goes that's an upgrade from emulator where you have to bind a 30% button somehow (i used the ps5 touch pad) then while holding that use square to shoot which is just awful.

Does MGS2 have all the Substance extras? I'm guessing the skateboarding isn't present (no great loss IMO) but I assume the VR missions and Snake Tales are there?

One thing I always was sad that it wasnt in the HD collection was the boss rush mode in MGS3. I usually played it when I just wanted to play one of the fights but didnt want to play a full run of the game and you could even chose the difficulty.
I thought there was an unlock tied to playing duel mode and beating all the best times? Also why is that gone? Is it cause it was on the second disc? I just found out all the downloadable costumes are in the game though you just hit left/right on the uniform menu.

Its because it was on the second disc yes, the only thing from the second disc they kept in the collection where MG1 and 2, not even the secret theatre was saved sadly.

Oh I looked it up the DPM camo was unlocked through duel mode which is still in the game you just get it. The banana camo is gone though which is a shame if you're the fan who won the contest for it. And of course the monkey mask is gone.

IIRC, DPM was unlocked by choosing "I like MGS3!" on the title screen. Or atleast in the HD Collection.

Also, they removed the best items in the series. :(

The issues with the pressure sensitive buttons actually makes me think more highly of the idea of the remake lol
It's very clumsy to deal with since you essentially need to relearn the game. I just got past The Fear and poisoned him with dart frogs and used all my MK22 ammo on him.

So now I need to trek back to the beginning of the river to get the water facecamo and try to find tranq ammo. I had to use cig spray on the guards in the warehouse and none of them dropped tranq.

The Pain is definitely one of the shittiest boss fights in the series and I think is the only bad boss fight in the game.
