As MGS3 is my favorite of the series, I have high hopes but I am also very very afraid that they will fuck it up.
Also, why don't we get remake of the MSX2 games!?
For one, most people have not played them.
Secondly, they can expend the stories in them a bit more.
Thirdly, we get more Solid Snake.,

I know, it was a joke. I was hoping that calling you a peasant would be comical enough of an exaggeration to have gotten the intent across.

I don't mind the remake existing, I still have all my copies of MGS3 and I will keep playing it in whatever way I want, but I've seen people claiming that MGS3 (and 2 and other ps2 games) didn't have an artstyle just because they tried to have as realistic grahpics as possible at the time, the problem with that mindset is that they made every asset in order to fit way they wanted the colors of the scenes to look, realistic graphics doesn't meant that you can't control whatever mood you want to create with the frame, MGSV also has realistic graphics and it still has color filters and uses lights to create different color tones in scenes to give different moods.
 
After watching more streams on it, MGS1 runs fine. I think most people are accidentally selecting the shitty PAL version.

Also, MGS3 is clearly noticebly faster than the HD col. Survival Viewer boots in immediately. Codec is slower but a bit faster than vanilla. And there's no dip in frame rate with The Fury or Groznjy Grad. I might just buy it now.

All the hysteria around it seems to be from faggots still shitting blood over Konami firing Kojewma. There was never going to be a circumstance where everyone was going to be happy with a rerelease but now they're outright just making shit up to hate on it.
 
What does everyone think of giving the series a Final Fantasy style new beginning? MGS 1-4 story is complete and done. I think it would be cool just to start a new story with a legendary soldier named snake going on an infiltration mission involving a giant mech super weapon. It can be a completely new story with new themes but still have the core MGS elements people like. I have never played them but I think the ACID games had this same concept.

Kojima did amazing things with the MGS 1-3 but I would not be opposed to some other Japanese game devs picking up the torch and continueing the series. Of course I dont trust Konami to assemble this team but its still possible.

I don't know. Kojimbo may be a Western media-obsessed hack of a writer but I don't think anyone else could pull off the same dumb ideas with much the same gusto or better.

Played a little of MGS3. The loads are really good, especially between cutscenes. The survival viewer might take a second to boot in when you enter a new area, but every subsequent time in that area it's fast.

It's goofy as shit using the stab with the knife. You press the left stick in since there's no pressure sensitivity. And to aim a gun without firing it, you press the stick in.
