While not exactly "Metal Gear," I didn't really wanna start a new thread or anything. But, I wanted to share that Zone of the Enders: MARS (The HD remaster of ZOE 2) is currently on sale for 5 bucks on the PSN. Since the game is so short, that's a great price. I'd been sleeping on the HD release for a while, since I played the PS2 release like a zillion times. But goddamn, do the OFs look great in HD. Proof that you can do a good remaster, when you don't just put Bluepoint or some other slop-producing studio on it. It's a shame we never really did get Enders Project. Or the weird 3DS port they teased once at some press event and then never mentioned again. I've got a real hankering to play Fist of Mars again. Might fire that up.

I don't want to have to emulate. Simple as.
While it is nice to have the convenience of just clicking on it and making it go... It's not like PS2 emulation is hard. Hell, even PS3 emulation is finally entering the state where it's easy enough and reliable. So, even the novelty of having MGS4 on something more modern isn't really there anymore. I don't mind a proper remaster where they get either the OG studio to do it and toss in a few new goodies or whatever (.hack//GU Last Recode comes right to mind), but new ports of PS3 remasters of PS1 and PS2 games doesn't really add anything new to the mix. At least the MGS remasters don't quite fuck up the visuals as hard as the Silent Hill ones did.

The fact that they can't even be fucked to upscale means it's probably a no buy from me. If I want to play with shitty resolutions I'll just play them on their original consoles.
As always emulation is superior. Better in every way and free.

Once you download the actual emulator and set it up, and also setting up 7-zip, emulation is extremely easy. Just download the game, extract the files, and play. I know jack shit about computers and I’ve emulated games. It’s absolutely worth it. And as far as where to take roms from, download them from vimms lair.

I don't have PSVR, or else I'd try it. Looks neat from some screenshots and stuff I've seen. More VR mecha games would definitely sell me on VR.
My understanding is it's the full game but you see things from the cockpit in real time. It looks pretty crazy how they did it. Jehuty shakes and moves with every sword slice and there's a moving model of it in the cockpit corner that shows what it's doing, in a sort of pseudo third person view.

I'll take what I can get and we're not getting a direct uncut port of any of these games for sure. :( I don't know why it's so hard to simply port a game and leave it alone at the same time.
It's sad but yet unsurprising that no big name game company actually know how to remaster and port any of their respective vintage games but care more about money making.

No buy for me, I can play the HD collection on my Series X and I can easily emulate MGS1 on my PC.

No buy for me
implying that anyone's paying for anything nowadays. definitely not going to yar-har-fiddle-dee-dee the absolute shit out of this!

MGS1 on my PC.
emulating MGS1 is simply superior to the pc port, which removes VR missions for some odd reason. it's definitely a lot more cohesive too, with the saving and loading being integrated into the codec rather than separate. since it's PS1 literally anything should be able to run it.

MGS2 I believe is more or less the same. It's a case by case basis.

The original MG is also included, and was played on the MSX, so porting it didn't come with any drawbacks as far as I know.

Why MG2 isn't on there is anyone's guess.

I always love being a user for 98, XP and 7.
Nothing will ever top 7. First of all, the RAM usage was optimized to a mirror sheen. It's not going to have any bloatware clogging up the performance. The user interface of Vista has been replaced with the simplified version of Windows 7 Aero, and it's perfectly friendly to the user. The interface itself is clean and airy and has been revised multiple times for maximum productivity. The window frames can be made transparent to have them obscure less space on the screen. The taskbar has been remade too, to prevent any annoying pop-ups. It's got jump lists, giving applications superior task accessing capability. The support for solid-state drives have been improved as well with the TRIM command. That increases the efficiency of the SSD and increases the speed of the OS. They also reworked the OS to recognize and distinguish between the solid-state drives and regular hard drives. This is an operating system for everyone.

7 was indeed the best. Vista had some potential, but it was crippled by obvious bugs. 8/8.1 is obviously shit, while 10 is pretty good and 11 is something I still do not wanna touch and never will
