While not exactly "Metal Gear," I didn't really wanna start a new thread or anything. But, I wanted to share that Zone of the Enders: MARS (The HD remaster of ZOE 2) is currently on sale for 5 bucks on the PSN. Since the game is so short, that's a great price. I'd been sleeping on the HD release for a while, since I played the PS2 release like a zillion times. But goddamn, do the OFs look great in HD. Proof that you can do a good remaster, when you don't just put Bluepoint or some other slop-producing studio on it. It's a shame we never really did get Enders Project. Or the weird 3DS port they teased once at some press event and then never mentioned again. I've got a real hankering to play Fist of Mars again. Might fire that up.
While it is nice to have the convenience of just clicking on it and making it go... It's not like PS2 emulation is hard. Hell, even PS3 emulation is finally entering the state where it's easy enough and reliable. So, even the novelty of having MGS4 on something more modern isn't really there anymore. I don't mind a proper remaster where they get either the OG studio to do it and toss in a few new goodies or whatever (.hack//GU Last Recode comes right to mind), but new ports of PS3 remasters of PS1 and PS2 games doesn't really add anything new to the mix. At least the MGS remasters don't quite fuck up the visuals as hard as the Silent Hill ones did.I don't want to have to emulate. Simple as.
