Im in chapter 2 now and riot armor is fucking op.
Also the dumbass enemies have gene enhanced eysight and sound, even with the sneaking suit.
Also the story doesn't make sense now,I going to have to read the wikia.
But its a good game, sadly it has been deeply downgraded, many scenes from the trailers, were either removed outright or nerfed to hell.
But gameplay is awesome,I wished kojima got more time to develop, since the gae

He got tossed out before it was ready because his bosses were idiots and wanted to make a fast buck.

As for the story, it's mostly a followup on some loose ends from Part 1, (I'll send you a summary via PM), though one never gets properly resolved since Kojima was kicked out before it could be resolved.

Speaking of idiot bosses...

I beat the game some time ago. Not sure I want to join the 100% club because the thought of doing [Extreme] Code Talker gives me the shivers.

I think I went through the seven stages of grief over the ending.

The one where you get the code talker?

Truth be told, you can easily sneak past the Skulls with the stealth camo.

Bring Quiet against the riot armor guys. Since she aims for the head almost exclusively she'll knock their helmets off and you can tranq/head shot them.

Also, high powered shotguns (the air loaded ones so you can Fulton them) are pretty effective. The anti-tank sniper rifle and grenade launchers are pretty good alternatives as well.

Stealthy CQCers can take them down with some patience and planning.

So I finished the truth ending, the extreme missions are unfairly hard since I can't develop the anti armor rifle yet and I have to finish the quiet final mission yet.
I want to say that the game had a excellent and solid initial presentation and the repetition of missions (there is not much tactics if you want a S or A rank) and the near complete lack of cutscenes(there were excellent ones in trailers that I discovered that they were just high quality mocap and not a scripted scene,in game you can't appreciate their details.)just made things worse.
I don't know why people hated the ending, it basically puts the story into the players hands and it makes sense if you take hideo's love for the fourth wall.
I want to konami to release the final pieces and a metal gear 1 remake.
For everything and the taking account my last games I played,I give it a 8/10.

He has said not to call it Metal Gear Solid 5, but rather Metal Gear Solid V.

Metal Gear Solid: Venom

It's a damn shame. I love playing the game. It's fun. The story, however, was a wasted opportunity. I also didn't see much reason for the open world. There wasn't any real purpose to free-roam other than collect resources. You're stuck on the roads, so the map is deceiving in its size. All the areas are visited in missions, so there's no reason to explore them in free-roam because they're more-or-less exactly the same.

I did enjoy MGS5, but there's a lot missing from the game. It's better than MGS4's story, though. That one had a lot of story, but most of it was messy and fan-service.

I'm not finished with the game just yet (still having too much fun futzing around with side ops in Africa), but it's done a great job of turning me on to the rest of the series as a whole.

I'm playing through the first MGS right now and while a lot of aspects of it haven't aged well at all, I know it would have completely blown my mind wide open if I played it when it came out. For a game on the PS1 its scope is unbelievable. I haven't played an older game with that much depth since the original Deus Ex. Good shit.

Definitely loved Africa more than Afghanistan. The first area was way too samey-samey.

Also quite a shame that there aren't a lot of interior levels.

Merry Christmas, Diamond Dogs.

This was the end result of a series of events that went something like this:
Attempt to rescue prisoners from a soviet base.
Start by sniping random soldiers from the cliffs around the base.
Run away when they start calling in mortar strikes.
Hide in a cardboard box while the soldiers rush out of the base to find the sniper.
Wander around the base in a cardboard box CQCing people and watching the soldiers freak out at the growing pile of unconscious bodies.
Fulton out said unconscious soldiers, freaking out the guards even more.
Use a convenient sandstorm to run around beating up the remaining soldiers.
Snipe the final guy returning to after not finding the sniper.
Fulton out the prisoners.
Do donuts with the base's jeep.
Blow the shit out of the base with the mortar they tried to kill me with.
Run out of the smoking ruins of the base because you blew up the jeep.
Snipe the fuel supplies at several nearby outposts while on horseback.
See a cargo truck approaching.
Shoot up the cargo truck and hijack it.
Ramp off a cliff side into a soviet outpost during another sandstorm, much to the occupant's confusion.
Jump out of the truck and start flinging grenades at it to give it a proper viking send-off.
Run around CQCing the guards.
Pop the guy in the tower in the head by running around the cliff behind him.
Finally send Trucky to Valhalla by blowing up the outpost's fuel barrels and shooting the engine block with my rifle.
