Kojima played US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE!!!

Paz turning out to be alive blew my mind. Like...holy shit. But something seems off about her. VERY off, especially given Ocelot's commentary about her condition. Also I guess the "second bomb" debate is settled now since it was pretty much shown that the medic shoved his hand...up...you know...uh...yeah.
When I got to that part, my jaw dropped to the fucking floor. I just keep asking myself: What? What? How? Does that mean that I played Ground zeros as a dream or what? So many question.
Also, vaggo bomb or ass bomb.

The battle with Quiet was intense. I have no idea how I would have gotten past it if I wasn't packing a sniper of my own.

Kaz seems to be filling the role of Ahab much more than the Boss right now, considering his obsession with revenge and the stunt he pulled when you bring Quiet back to MB.

The fight with Quiet reminded me of the one against The End, but hella more intense. By far it's probably my favorite boss fight. The Skulls were ok, but this one takes the cake. I was able to get her health down a bit with my MRS before deciding to call in a supply drop for a sniper rifle lol. xD

But HOLY FUCK did my base morale go down when Quiet came aboard. I've got 8 guys in the sick bay and I'm down 2 levels in R&D. I better get a handjob or something for saving her ass.

I got an S rank taking her down with the tranq pistol. Git gud. :^)

There's also a strategy where you can mark her with the scope, place a marker, and then call in a weapon drop on the marker. Two times is a non-lethal takedown and gets 4/4 on the mission objectives. (The 4th is to take her down without using firearms.)

I'm covered in gore and one of the soldiers mentioned I can shower at mother base. Where is the shower?

It shows on the map. There's one on the first level of the Command Platform at about 2 o'clock from where you hop off the helicopter. White box with a blue door.

Chico's tape 4 is fucking disturbing.
And I want moneys for phantom pain.
I wish I could make some shitty fetish art and earn money to buy it.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST I WAS NOT READY FOR THAT.

No seriously, I'd played the game for nearly 20 hours at that point and I had to stop for the night after finishing that mission. That thing is terrifying. My heart rate didn't drop below 110bpm for the entire scene (should've gotten a fitbit for recording that) and I had to redo it 3 times because that cunt-o-saurus seems to have eyes in the back of its giant head.

Between the exceptional view range where it'll spot anything in line-of-sight regardless of distance, the AI figuring out expected hiding spots based on where it last saw you, and the tendency to turn around on a dime when you think about moving from cover to cover, I was horrified the entire time. For the two hours after stopping the game before I went to bed I was shaking like a leaf.

Bravo, Kojima. I'm not looking forward to fighting that thing again.

EDIT: Spoilers aside, really love it, got 38 hours out of it already. Anyone who is running short on money like I was, you can sell excess resources, equipment and vehicles on the black market for extra scratch, cleaned out some of my inventory and made 1.5m GMP by thinning out my plant storage, selling some spare trucks and mortars and getting rid of the tons and tons of processed Bio resources in storage.

So I've never played a Metal Gear game before, but I'm thinking of picking the Phantom Pain up this weekend. Would I have trouble understanding the story without having played the other games?

You'd be missing out on a lot of plot points but I heard that they have ingame cassette tapes to help newcomers to the story. You'll also have trouble with references and in jokes of the series.

I guess I'll start looking into the plots of the past games then.

me too, im interested in starting from the start but i hear the series is pretty much a movie that you can interact with every now and then

Some people who are used to the series are apparently saying that the fifth one doesn't have enough cutscenes, so that isn't a problem. The opening is like an hour-long cutscene, but after that it's 90% free-roaming gameplay.

essentially all the metal gears except for peace walker and V are just long movies, and even peace walker pushes it.

MGS3, Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes are kind of necessary.
I'd suggest going through them all to appreciate the evolution.
