Not really. Most arms smuggling (hell, a vast majority of smuggling) goes through standard ports of entry. Firearms can be concealed in shipments of automotive parts, construction material, metal being sent in for scrapping or reprocessing, hidden in fuel or other liquid (tanker trucks), inside the doors of vehicles, etc etc etc. A sniffer dog can’t track down a hunk of metal, and disassembled, a firearm can easily hide in plain sight in an shipment of other metal parts.
All I can think of here is the guy on /k/ like 10 years ago who illegally imported a Bizon parts kit from Russia and built it as a Form 1 SBR (and once it was registered, it became legally 100% American made).

A few years ago someone smuggled in a Bizon parts kit, sent it off to a builder, and the builder turned it into a post sample and kept it. Trying to remember the builders name, but he's famous for fucking up someone's MG42 I believe.

So what the gun control issue from biden today?
So, I read it and I still don't know what actually got done. As far as I can tell, it's back to "if you shoulder a brace it's an SBR" and...background checks on 80% firearms? Or background checks on firearms that have been built from 80% kits? I don't even know. If it's the latter that makes no sense because it's illegal to transfer an unserialized firearm made after 1968 anyway. Someone can make sense of this but it ain't me. There's a lot of "we're going to draft example legislation that states can use as a template for their own laws" that doesn't mean anything since it's on the states to pass any legislation. He's appointing a director of the ATF who is anti-gun which is what I expected, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's more gay rulings by the AT

So yeah, nothing burgers. I think they’re doing background checks on 80% firearms as they’re sold with the express intent to be made into firearms - which is where the law gets a bit murky.

There's lots of excitement over composite cased ammo now because of the NGSW project in certain sectors but I don't see it truly having mass market appeal due to things like heat over the casing and storage limitations. Supposedly True Velocity claims you can set up a plant for it anywhere though.
I've shot some polymer cased 38 special, it was clearly loaded pretty light, but was pleasant enough to shoot out of a snub nosed. Not sure how comfortable I'd be shooting it out of a semi auto or rifle in general. Honestly I see caseless ammo or telescoping ammo having more of a future.

Nah, I think time has passed caseless and electronic caseless by, unfortunately. Cool concepts but I doubt we'll see them become popular sporting cartridges in our lifetimes.

Some mad man on /k/ made 577 snider all poly since it's a lower pressure round he had no problems he stole the primer out of a .45 acp since he had a ton of them.

I'm sure as more people get into this shit, and polys get better it'll be more common but loading hot stuff for now? No way would I even try it.

I'm struggling to find a fair price on an old corn cob AR hand guard (carbine) and about to just bite down and get a magpul SL. I happen to like the magpul one but I was trying an 90s look.

Are you talking about clamshells? Check Numrich.

Came to bitch at just how much Biden lied out his ass while announcing his bullshit EOs. His line about how no right is absolute and that there were restrictions on what normal people could own "since the beginning" really chapped my ass, because anyone who has studied the Founding Fathers and their attitudes towards individual liberties can tell you that absolutely was not the case. Fucksake, Benjamin Fraknlin owned fucking FIELD ARTILLERY pieces and lent them to the militia during the Battle of Boston. I hope the senile old fuck Hair-sniffer in Chief gets his retarded EOs smacked down in the courts. It wasn't Lyin' Biden's only lie during that press conference, but it was the one that pissed me off the most because of his obliviousness of the Constitution and the intentions of the Framers. I mean, fucking hell, part of the reason behind the Revolutionary War was because the Crown was restricting people from exercising their right to keep and bear arms.

On a happier note, I recently bought a Cloud Defensive OWL rifle light for my LMT MWS308, and I am really impressed with it. I had originally wanted to get one for my Fostech Origin 12, but with the way the OWL is used and with how large the handguard/rail system is on the Origin 12, it just wouldn't have worked out and I ended up putting a Surefire Scout Light 600 Dual Fuel on it. Still need to get the tail cap for the Scout Light that has the constant on/off switch and the socket for a remote tape switch. But I'm really impressed with the OWL. It's really well designed and thought-out, and it comes ready to run out of the box with two 18650 batteries and a charger. There's no additional components like tail caps or tape switches to buy since the activation pressure switch for it is integrated into it's built-in mount. I honestly feel like it's a better light than the Surefire Scout Light. You can swap the ends around to configure it for right or lefthanded use, or even configure it to be mounted on the 3 or 6 o'clock rails to use your fingertips to activate the pressure switch instead of mounting it to the 12 o'clock rail and using your thumb to activate it if you don't like using a "C-clamp" grip.

Here are a few photos of the OWL on my MWS308.

Speaking about FN FALs, what's your favorite variant of it?

If I were to buy another FAL I'd get an 18" Para FAL like the classic Congo FAL, but with some modern updates/upgrades from DSA, like the optics rail top cover for the upper receiver, railed or M-Lok handguard, DSA's modern folding stock, etc. I've always loved 18" barrels on .308/7.62x51mm NATO fighting rifles because it offers a great balance between compactness and bullet velocity. However, I've always had a boner for the Israeli 21" heavy barrel FAL (all Izzy FALs, actually) and that funky Canadian automatic rifle version of the British L1A1 that had the handguard that folded out into a bipod and was meant to fill a similar role as the BREN an M1918A2 BAR.

The NGSW entry that's utilizing telescoped cartridges is also using polymer/plastic for the cartridge case material. I think both polymer and telescoped case technology have a lot of promise, but I think the two-piece metal case design that SIG is using for their entry has the most promise of both being selected by the military for adoption, and of becoming successful on the civilian market. It's already a mature design to the point that SIG's ammunition division is releasing ammunition utilizing the technology in several calibers for the civilian market. They're even offering a new proprietary caliber (7mm I think) to be used in their new bolt action marksman/target rifle.

Whatever the military selects, if they select anything, I just hope a civilian variants of at least the rifle along with whichever cartridge they select become available. I just like the idea of owning weapons chambered for the same cartridges the military uses.

Are you going to get a pressure pad for that? And I think my next WML is going to be a Modlite. Been using Surefire Scouts for years but a bunch of my buddies are preaching that Modlite is the latest and greatest when it comes to this.

It already has a pressure pad integrated into the light itself. It's the long raised strip with rounded ends on the mount. They don't make things like alternate tail caps or remote pressure tapes for the OWL because there's really no need for them due to how the OWL is designed. Cloud Defensive makes another weapon light that's of a more traditional design like a Surefire Scout Light with changeable mounts and other accessories. It's called the REIN and it comes with a remote tape switch as part of the package, but I think they also have a more traditional tail cap with a clicky constant on/off button for users who prefer that style of tail cap/switch, and the mount for the REIN can be changed like on a Surefire Scout Light to mount on different interface systems like M-Lok. The mount that comes standard with the REIN is a normal picatinny mount I believe. But the OWL is a different beast from traditional rifle lights because it's designed to be a one-piece unit that doesn't require the user to invest in additional components to run it, like remote pressure tapes and such.

Edit: before you jump into the Modlight, take a look at what Cloud Defensive has to offer. They are every bit as high quality as Surefire and comparable weapon lights and have been getting adopted and used by a lot of shooters who have been diehard Surefire users for years. For example, for the longest time I always swore that I would only ever use Surefire lights for those times where I might need a light that I can count on no matter what. And I still love Surefire and will happily own and use them. I've got a dual fuel 600 series Scout Light on my Fostech Origin 12. But my good buddy whose opinion I trust emphatically in regards to fighting weapons and the things that go with them started telling me about this new company called Cloud Defensive who had just come out with a great little weapon light called the OWL and how he was replacing all his Surefire lights on his fighting long guns with them. I was over at his house and he pulled out his main "go-to" rifle that had an OWL mounted on it, and after us both checking the rifle to make sure the chamber was clear and the weapon safe to handle, he had me give this new light a go. I was convinced right away and knew I needed to buy one for myself. It took me a little while since I had other things taking up my financial attention at the time, but I'm really pleased to have one now and I'm going to try to buy at least one more to mount on my Steyr AUG A3 and hopefully a third to mount on my Mk14 Mod 0, though I may go with the REIN light for the Mk14 due to how the rails are set up on the SAGE chassis it's mounted in.

Firing an AR for the first time being felt like being punched in the face but I survived using the weapon of mass destruction according to democrats.

Also are hybrid muzzle brake and compensator great to use compared to a muzzle brake only or compensator only.

What does everyone think of what Biden's gonna get up to tomorrow? Big nothingburger or nah?
Executive orders have to ride on existing laws, so anything Biden wants to do will by necessity be limited, and can still be struck down by the courts. He can't get any legislation through congress, since Manchin recently stated he's not in favor of messing with the filibuster.

Hmm, as a person who is the opposite of a square plastic frame wearing leftist soycuck. Recoil was not so bad other than a sudden wind burst in the face but the goddamn fumes, I think it was the muzzle break shoving them into my face. It makes a loud bang but with earmuffs, it is no biggie. I don't know if he was using a shitty AR but I had no brass flying across my face. It felt great firing it, my only complaint was the money I spent on the ammo.
