Came to bitch at just how much Biden lied out his ass while announcing his bullshit EOs. His line about how no right is absolute and that there were restrictions on what normal people could own "since the beginning" really chapped my ass, because anyone who has studied the Founding Fathers and their attitudes towards individual liberties can tell you that absolutely was not the case. Fucksake, Benjamin Fraknlin owned fucking FIELD ARTILLERY pieces and lent them to the militia during the Battle of Boston. I hope the senile old fuck Hair-sniffer in Chief gets his retarded EOs smacked down in the courts. It wasn't Lyin' Biden's only lie during that press conference, but it was the one that pissed me off the most because of his obliviousness of the Constitution and the intentions of the Framers. I mean, fucking hell, part of the reason behind the Revolutionary War was because the Crown was restricting people from exercising their right to keep and bear arms.
On a happier note, I recently bought a Cloud Defensive OWL rifle light for my LMT MWS308, and I am really impressed with it. I had originally wanted to get one for my Fostech Origin 12, but with the way the OWL is used and with how large the handguard/rail system is on the Origin 12, it just wouldn't have worked out and I ended up putting a Surefire Scout Light 600 Dual Fuel on it. Still need to get the tail cap for the Scout Light that has the constant on/off switch and the socket for a remote tape switch. But I'm really impressed with the OWL. It's really well designed and thought-out, and it comes ready to run out of the box with two 18650 batteries and a charger. There's no additional components like tail caps or tape switches to buy since the activation pressure switch for it is integrated into it's built-in mount. I honestly feel like it's a better light than the Surefire Scout Light. You can swap the ends around to configure it for right or lefthanded use, or even configure it to be mounted on the 3 or 6 o'clock rails to use your fingertips to activate the pressure switch instead of mounting it to the 12 o'clock rail and using your thumb to activate it if you don't like using a "C-clamp" grip.
Here are a few photos of the OWL on my MWS308.
Speaking about FN FALs, what's your favorite variant of it?
If I were to buy another FAL I'd get an 18" Para FAL like the classic Congo FAL, but with some modern updates/upgrades from DSA, like the optics rail top cover for the upper receiver, railed or M-Lok handguard, DSA's modern folding stock, etc. I've always loved 18" barrels on .308/7.62x51mm NATO fighting rifles because it offers a great balance between compactness and bullet velocity. However, I've always had a boner for the Israeli 21" heavy barrel FAL (all Izzy FALs, actually) and that funky Canadian automatic rifle version of the British L1A1 that had the handguard that folded out into a bipod and was meant to fill a similar role as the BREN an M1918A2 BAR.
I've shot some polymer cased 38 special, it was clearly loaded pretty light, but was pleasant enough to shoot out of a snub nosed. Not sure how comfortable I'd be shooting it out of a semi auto or rifle in general. Honestly I see caseless ammo or telescoping ammo having more of a future.
The NGSW entry that's utilizing telescoped cartridges is also using polymer/plastic for the cartridge case material. I think both polymer and telescoped case technology have a lot of promise, but I think the two-piece metal case design that SIG is using for their entry has the most promise of both being selected by the military for adoption, and of becoming successful on the civilian market. It's already a mature design to the point that SIG's ammunition division is releasing ammunition utilizing the technology in several calibers for the civilian market. They're even offering a new proprietary caliber (7mm I think) to be used in their new bolt action marksman/target rifle.
Whatever the military selects, if they select anything, I just hope a civilian variants of at least the rifle along with whichever cartridge they select become available. I just like the idea of owning weapons chambered for the same cartridges the military uses.
