I've posted about this a few times but I finally did it.

My dad died a couple years ago, and some time later I found a S&W 19-3 buried in some of his stuff, completely disassembled, in somewhat rough condition. I have no idea where he got it. He was a machinist in his earlier life and did a lot of his own gun work, so I think he might have bought it off somebody to fix. I reassembled it as far as I could, but ran into a problem and ended up taking it to a gunsmith. Glad I did because there was a safety issue that was above my pay grade to fix or even recognize. They fixed it, I did some test firing, and then took it to have it refinished. I just got it back. Behold.

It's not quite like new, there's still light pitting in a few areas that can't be seen here and a couple nicks. But I think it came out pretty well overall. Going to take it to the range this week.

I know some turboautist here can probably dox me down to the atomic level with this post, so uh... just don't do that I guess?
That's a nice looking revolver. Any idea what the manufacture and model name is?

My real world experience during my time in the Bhutan army says absolutely not. That thing is a bad choice for modern warfare.

Yes 20 inches. that + the fixed stock made it a major pita getting in and out of vehicles and made properly shouldering it basically impossible unless you are a giant.

Realistically theres not much different in accuracy or range from 20 to even 11.5. The skill of the shooter and conditions are going to have a vastly bigger impact on accuracy at 300+ yards than a few more inches of barrel.

Fun fact, in the Marines at least once upon a time M4s and M16A4s qualified exactly the same. Both shot out to 500 yards using irons.

Lol manlet. Nigga if you can't shoulder a 20 inch rifle, you have issues

Likely the only G in the game older than Hickok45, Ayoob's going to be 78 this July.

i don't know if he's just the only surviving talking head from the 70s-80s that's still around or what but without fail every time i see this guy on a video it's clickbait for boomers that's reinforcing an obviously dated opinion.

when it comes to the chiappa rhino it's really something else because i know ayoob is the type of boomer that would mock you for buying a taurus instead of a 'real revolver' but somehow a 30 ounce snubnose revolver with a print pattern that screams I AM A GUN is worthy of 15 minutes of glazing because it's upside down? you really can just convince them something is high tech by painting it silver.

I like the Rino but let's be honest, you're buying it because you can't afford a Mateba.

The car community is in the same boat. Reddit, and above all fucking Facebook groups, have cannibalized whatever's left of the hobby.
and it's impossible to find stuff on there, and half the time when you do they link to a forum or obscure website that is 404'd.
Been buying a lot of old firearms books lately. Jack O'connor, Townsend Whelan, W.W Greener etc.

i don't like the rhino at all because it's a mockery of the craft of design and the shittiest, cheapest, laziest possible output of a modern machine shop tasked with making a revolver whose singular unique element of design is overshadowed by every other design concession that makes it worse than a normal revolver. it's 6 ounces lighter than a normal 6 inch revolver and about the same weight as a 4 inch, and heavier as a snubnose.

i have a 6 inch 357 revolver i shoot frequently and it's really not THAT much recoil, i'm certain that the rhino exists because boomers love using technology as a crutch and it's marketed as a "revolver with less muzzle flip" like that's a tangible concern for an adult man

were scorpions always 1500? i thought they went for like 800-1000, what happened?
I think CZ USA readjusted their prices given the demand and now with B&T USA not making a competitor, its a good time to raise prices. HK's SP5 are still almost a grand more and AR-9s make for lousy backpack guns due to the buffer tube.
Yeah, Checking gun deals shows that the cheapest micro is $1399. There used to be some of the micros for as low as $800, but they sold out. I wonder if they sold out due to the upcoming FRT.
Its safe assumption to say FRTs are part of the demand increase.

the full sized slide/frame came in for the RXM. it's nice; it's the RXM but bigger! the overwatch trigger kit suddenly stopped feeling shitty and i really like it. gonna keep the compact slide for the silencer and the metal frames continue to call for me.

are the roller delayed kits still an extra 400? at that point why don't you swim with the turks and check out an AP5?

Tell me you've never shouldered an a4 while wearing body armor with plates without telling me you've never done it.
At least some people mixed and matched to get the collapsible stock, and it was planned for the A5 until it was scrapped in exchange for everyone and their desk clerk getting the M4.

Are we allowed to talk about gear in here? I've been training with my local state militia and need a real "battle belt" or whatever you wanna call it. Looking at some of the offerings from AWS. Is blue alpha slop? The fact that they sponsor like every single YouTuber makes me worry that the quality is not there.

I don't need top of the line, but I don't want chinkshit either. What pouches and stuff do I want on my belt? I already have a Haley micro rig with 3 rifle mags and 2 pistol mags. Also, best way to attach a safariland holster for muh m9?

Had a chance to shoot an M2 carbine rental at the range today and I was amazed at how well-designed it was. Ridiculously light, pointed like a dream, low recoil, not that much louder than a PCC, and the sights were dead on and incredibly quick. I've shot full auto thompsons a decent amount of times and now they seem like an absolute joke compared to the carbine.
If I ever moved back to a ban state I'd genuinely buy one with a light for home defense
