Better give us a Legends Collection next

Only if it comes with a finished version of Mega Man Legends 3. Our boy deserves to come home from the moon. I'll meet in the middle and allow them to patch up the plot with the wacky-ass ZX lore that's meant to tie everything together in the timeline.

I mean, it's only two games. Unless they patched them to have less shitty controls I don't see the point. MML with fluid analog controls would be the SHIT. I'd probably play through it again even though I just beat it last year.
They could always throw in Misadventures of Tron Bonne. Might justify a rerelease a little bit more that way.

Ah, i knew it somebody gonna mention that game.
Yeah, two mainline games and the spinoff.
There's also the phone game, Great Adventure on 5 Islands.
Either way, if they want to make a Legends Collection and make it worth it they kinda have to shove other spinoffs from across the entire franchise to bloat the number of games. Kinda like how the Battle Network collection markets itself as 10 games but in reality it's 6 or how the Star Force collection is marketed as 7 games but in reality it's 3.

Looks like the worst Mega Man series is getting a legacy collection. I never understood the appeal of a watered-down Battle Network with 2/3rds of the playable area removed, but I guess people wanted this.

It's very good, just not BN good.

I also hope they do a spinoff collection, but companies never seem to do that unless they're just bonuses for a main collection...

Or at least the cancelled demo, that'd be a hell of a surprise. There's apparently some mobile phone games too, which seem to be canon (which was already mentioned).

So is there any news on the fangame front? Anything new that came out or is about to come out?
don't mention "that" game please

I'm excited for the Star Force collection if only because I want to try my luck at the PVP scene, and starting up an emulator and finding people around my level of experience (basically 0 beyond main story) feels like too much work.

Not that I know of, I know Unlimited 2 is in development, but I absolutely hated Unlimited since it was way too difficult (in comparison to official games which were too easy if anything) and the plot was pretty bad; this one introduces basically a precursor to the armors in X except tainted by autism. There's X Corrupted (probably never coming out, the grift continues...) and I don't follow the scene enough to comment on anything else.

I've found a lot of fangames for some reason feel very different to the official games and they always turn me off. I was playing Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 (first one was mediocre, second one was about the same) and the designed levels, whether highly ranked or not, are all garbage. I thought this was an issue with the lower tiers, so I went to the 10th ranked level out of curiosity and... it still sucks just like the least ranked levels! Not to mention the weapon loadout is garbage. I can't believe people thought this was a good idea and also that nearly every level should have some kind of stupid collectible for a collectathon to artificially extend gameplay time. I found myself enabling cheats almost immediately because of how stupid most of the levels are. It screams autism and pretentiousness just like every other fangame I've played.

Edit: Forgot to mention that the devs of Make a Good Mega Man Level 3 are something else, they added pronouns to the game. Let me play my game in peace without seeing this crap.

One of Unlimited and other good fangames like Rock Force and Rock n' Roll best aspects you can see right here: They gatekeep themselves by forcing players to actually engage with the game.

There's a difference between engaging with the game (from what I've seen, Rock Force and Rock n' Roll look fine in terms of everything, difficulty and design) and having fake difficulty (Unlimited). I expect Unlimited 2 to be more of the latter, and nothing in the fangame space right now interests me over playing something completely different.

Fake difficulty? Unlimited is about on par with 9 in terms of difficulty. You still got, E-Tanks, a shop, that one really easy boss to jumpstart the weakness order if you need that (Glue Man). It’s very well made too. Bosses are totally learnable, enemies don’t crowd the screen and are smartly placed and falling into spikes is almost always your fault. I can think of maybe one or two cheap shots the game actually has and they’re pretty minor. Not to mention the special weapons negate almost all challenges, they’re totally busted.

Mega Man: Dual Overdrive is coming in 2027.
They're teasing Proto Man's return, which is a funny coincidence considering Protomen recently announced Act III is finally coming out. Guess long awaited Mega Man projects announcements come in bunches. The fact that it's suppossed to be a 2d platformer leads me to believe that this will be a project similair to Megaman & Bass, because I don't know why else they'd abandon the traditional naming scheme..

More interestingly however, is that Capcom announced a Robot Master design contest [archive just in case]. They're definetly aware of how pozzed fandom culture got since 2012 (when they held the last one for Xover) because they gave a template that the design needs to be based on, in order to minimize disastrous concepts. Also they've already adressed AI, and how it's not allowed, but someone will definetly slip through, and this will cause controversy.

And lastly, on page 15 of Capcom's corpobabble report for 2025 [A], it was mentioned how the company wants to make Mega Man a "core IP".
At Capcom, we aim to sustain our KPI of 10% or better annual operating profit growth along with our long-term goal of annual software sales of 100 million units. To improve our chance of success, we are working to resolve business challenges, issue by issue. Our efforts are focused on core IP such as the Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and Street Fighter franchises, and mapping out mainline series entries and sequels, remakes, new IP, and ports of content to the latest hardware. We consistently release two to three major new titles each year, but recognize the need to grow our pipeline going forward. Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.
Does this mean more games coming in the future? Are they banking on the success of the comics? Will the new projects have any soul? I guess we have no option other than to wait

I can't believe it. Are we actually eating boys? Did the thread get necrod from actual updates?

Honestly? They should adapt the comic books into a TV series and throw it on Netflix Hulu Amazon Prime Apple TV. The story is there if you can find a team that gives a shit, and MegaMan has had plenty of time to fade into obscurity to make a splash. Heck, MegaMan X would make an awesome series. In fact, MegaMan is pretty well suited for a streaming format. An intro episode, 8 bosses for 8 episodes, a fortress stage, and a final boss battle. It's an easy 10-12 episode format that's pretty much baked into the formula.

There's X Corrupted (probably never coming out, the grift continues...) and I don't follow the scene enough to comment on anything else.
The amount of seething the people get over this 15-20 year long grift is astounding. They legitimately just can't admit that it's never coming out.

Yes, I didn't see anyone talking about this yet but this is X6 Viral Nightmare, an attempt to fix X6.

Since these people aren't grifting faggots, they plan to release it installments. The first part of which should be out relatively soon.

They used templates for Mega Man 8, it's a reference to that. Here's Sword Man's:

So yeah, they're not quite that forward-thinking.

Considering last time they did this they changed the designs so dramatically to fit Mega Man 8's (bad) artstyle, I don't think anyone should be terribly excited for this. Whatever gets chosen is probably going to be changed to fit the terrible Mega Man 11 style.

Seriously, most of these submissions are just so much better than what we got.

And who could forget this total Chad. Way cooler than the actual Search Man.

I just find this whole endeavor kind of pointless? Only one boss and it has to fit a specific criteria. Kinda sounds like they already have a design, weapon and stage in mind. But they're just doing this as a publicity stunt to feed engagement. Honestly wouldn't be too shocked if they already have a design ready to go and this whole thing is literally just for show.

Regarding the game itself? Eh. They barely showed anything. Considering it just looks like Mega Man 11 again, you'd forgive me if I'm not exactly excited. 11 was a real disapointment and they sort of burned my good will with the series after that. But hey, at least it blew Mighty No. 9 out of the water by being bog standard. So that's worth something I guess.

But oh I guess I'm supposed to piss my pants at the Proto Man whistle like this a Marvel Movie.

Ok I gotta ask, what did anyone really expect from a mega man game? especially a classic one?
