actual chad decision tbh. maverick hunter x is very fun, but it is harder, and the physics feel slightly different compared to the other SNES and even PS1 X games. the plot of maverick hunter x also doesn't interfere with the original x's plot in any way, so watching the cutscenes works perfectly fine.I was playing the MHX version, and I'll probably switch to SNES and watch the MHX cutscenes on YouTube. Fuck the haters. I heard MHX is slightly harder because it was made for the OG fans, which would make sense.
I really appreciate your encouragement. :3 You're not sperging at all - after yesterday, these sort of conversations are delightful. I have poor reflexes, so that makes these things a bit harder for me. Them's the breaks.
at the risk of filling the thread with just my opinions about x, i think the optimal way to play is the legacy collections (or emulating the games, X7 and X8 are bad fun and an interesting idea, respectively, but not necessary to being a fan of X because they are very disconnected from the rest of the series), just remember that the game gets significantly easier once you have the chest piece of an armor in every single game, and the buster part generally makes the rest of the game much easier too. there will probably be backtracking in your playthroughs, but don't forget that the 'exit' item in the pause menu will let you escape from any stage you've already cleared, while keeping any items or subtank energy you've collected.
once you've gotten a bit of an attachment to X and Zero i would recommend checking out Mega Man X: Command Mission if you like JRPGs, because it's a great one, and as far as i can recall, the only legitimate turn-based rpg in the mega man series, with battle network and legends both holding various flavors of action rpg.
there's also a taiwan-exclusive strategy game set in the classic mega man series,
