You're forgetting the one stupid line in the X7 soundtrack booklet saying Red is ex-Repliforce. It's more like glowies vs. Blackwater/Xe.
I haven't played any of the games because I'm awful at platformers. I just read up on the characters.

I know, I'm a heretic.

Is it worth trying if I didn't enjoy the classic series?

try all of the series, at least once through an emulator, or a buddy's copy of one of the legacy collections. if you don't like classic, try x. if you don't like x, maybe try zero or zx, they're a different spin on x. there's a turn based jrpg in the x series called command mission, legends and legends 2 are 3D ocarina of time-style third person adventure shooters (2 even almost masters the modern 3rd person control scheme, and happens to be one of my top 5 mega man games ever), there's the battle network games and star force, which are deck building action strategy jrpgs.

there's a mega man game for just about everybody, but you have to dig through a lot of games to find one that piques your interest if the platformers don't do it.

I unfortunately hate the art style of Zero series, but if I'm not feeling lazy, I'll try MHX at some point.

If there's a mod to make Zero's sprite look more like his OG design, I might try it. The elf thing is also kinda dumb.

You're as bad as the fangirls who just read the "lore" and have never picked up a controller. Or the fanboys that have only watched some guy in a maid uniform play X4 on Twitch.

Get to playing a game, anything, for the love of God. Even Rockboard. Megaman Soccer. Anything!

Hmm, that really gets the noggin joggin!

If you go back far enough in the topic... well, you're not entirely wrong. Responding like this doesn't really make me want to play the games, however. Did you miss the part where I said I didn't enjoy the classic series? 2 was okay, 5 sucked ass. Overall it felt like a chore. Charge shot mechanic is a pain in the ass and I hate it.

Do you not know what webzone this is?

Would you like a binky and a blanky?

Play the goddamn game you fuck. If you don't like any, then why are you even here?

Specifically to piss you off.
Also, if you are gonna play one of the SNES games (MMX1-4 and MM7-8) be sure to use ZSNES, we must honor Byuu's memory
X5 looks genuinely enjoyable. I was watching someone play it 2 days ago.

Should I use DuckStation or ePSXe? I've used DuckStation but idk if it has compatibility issues with X5.
duckstation for sure, it's the best emulator for all PS1 games at this point no contest.

x4 is also a ps1 game. for snes games, use the newest release of SNES9x.

I actually like platformers but if I'm going to play one or when I was a kid playing them I went for sonic mostly or maybe mario. When it comes to megaman battle network was always the best to me, it's semi open world and you can get "chip" upgrades to make your Navi stronger also the story is relatively good if you watched the show not like they are parallel or anything but adds some cool lore and battles.

There is also a weird spinoff game on gamecube called MegaMan:Network Transmission it's like the platformers but you also get chip upgrades never played it though.

I made the mistake of doing Flame Mammoth's stage first because that's what someone on GameFucks said to do. I vaguely recalled the general consensus was to do Chill Penguin first, so I'll have to do that instead.

God, I am so bad at platformers. Fuck the edge-guarding enemies.

not sure where you're at now, but the absolute first stage you should do in X1 on snes, no matter what, is chill penguin. the foot parts in this stage allows you to dash, which basically doubles your movement options, and is required for some things.

keep at it! the x games ask for a decent amount of skill, and if you're new to platformers or just not experienced, they can provide a decent challenge. it'll be fun to see what you think of the maverick fights in X2 once you get there as well, i think the stage design improved in every game from X1 to X4, and it was varying in quality after that. excuse the sperging, love this stupid blue robot.

network transmission gets a bad rep from battle network fans because it's basically just a classic Mega Man game with a coat of battle network paint on it, and it isn't even one of the better classic mega mans, closer to Mega Man 1 or Mega Man 6 than Mega Man 2 or Mega Man 4. even so, i love the shit out of it because it's a novel spin on the BN concept, and it was the first time my tiny soft brain recognized that the battle chips and navi chips were the equivalent of mega man getting the powers of an enemy in the classic/x series.

I was playing the MHX version, and I'll probably switch to SNES and watch the MHX cutscenes on YouTube. Fuck the haters. I heard MHX is slightly harder because it was made for the OG fans, which would make sense.

I really appreciate your encouragement. :3 You're not sperging at all - after yesterday, these sort of conversations are delightful. I have poor reflexes, so that makes these things a bit harder for me. Them's the breaks.
