It's part that they bombed and part that Monster Hunter became ginormous on the psp, and this was back in the solid-media only days of game producing. There are probably shelved projects for re-releasing MM2 or the whole nes-era series again (it usually happens alongside street fighter when there's a new console)

looks like reploidrevo's friend MugenZeroX (sorry there's no archive atm, no one thought to do it apparently, and he's already gone private) is also now being canceled | (archive) with yet another big, funky google doc | (archive)

this seems pretty self-explanatory. wasn't able to find the offending tweets but it was probably something like 'kill yourself reploid revo'.

Trusting anyone to be at least neutral with an account name that declares their disdain for someone is as dumb as expecting even-handed criticism from a political site that states their opinion in the website name. I never understood why that was so hard to understand for people. "Wow, look at what I-Hate-Crapcom has to say about all the horrible things Capcom did!" It comes across as a bit obsessed to the point where they might be unreasonable.

The dong avatar doesn't help, though. How mature.
1) Do you trust modern day Capcom to remake anything?

2) It is actually now cool to hate Mega Man 2. I am serious, it is a thing.

Also, regarding Bass? He is actually the most beloved Mega Man Classic character by popularity polls that Japanese companies like to use that I am aware of. I am not joking. Not sure where Zero ranks for Mega Man X but I would imagine that also holds.
Fujos are what hold Zero in the X series up, tbh. They love bishies so very, very much.

you reminded me of this EXTREMELY ancient gem of a web animation. thank you.

Wasn't Crazylegz42 involved in that? She was a Ruby-Spears Megaproto shipper and yes, she drew porn of the pairing. Also Bass fucking Ruby-Spears Roll.

I think she left the internet due to depression - the only thing she left behind was one of her hentai site accounts because she didn't really care about it. This info is all second-hand; I wasn't interested in the Ruby-Spears series when her stuff came out.

Kind of a shame, because apparently she was a nice lady.

ETA: Someone else in the comments said as of 3 years ago, her mother was ill and she needed to take care of her. Not sure what else happened in the interim.

Call me when they get up to 6 because of the original NES games that was the most interesting one. That one finally started experimenting with the gameplay beyond just adding the slide and the megabuster.
This one million times over, 6 feels so fresh because of the Rush adapters giving you new ways to play. I wish the series would have maintained this ambitious attitude instead of being shackled by conman's obsession with 2 until 11 hit.

You know, Dr. Wily does come off like an immigrant from Germany now that I think about it.
He's literally based on Einstein, the famous German scientist who Immigrated to America. pretty obvious statement I know but like the MM1 art of him is literally just a tiny grumpy cartoon Einstein. You don't need a fucking wiki citation to see a tiny dude named Albert Wily who looks exactly like an Albert Einstein Caricature in the early games before getting his iconic design like in the 3rd or so game but keeping the little Einstein sprite based on his initial promo/concept art from the first game till the seventh mainline game. He's mainly just visually based on Einstein rather than meant to be him. It's kind of like how in the original Metal gear sprites Big boss' art was a was just a pixellated edit of a Sean Connery photo but with more effort, only forlater games to depict him looking like he could actually be Snake's dad.

If Light were actually Light in Japan that would make sense, but they intended Right given that his symbol is an R.
I think it's supposed to be a kind of pun with the L and R pronunciation being similar. He used to be partners with Dr. Wily and they helped revolutionalize Robotics kind of like how the Wright brothers revolutionized Travel. Could also just be one of many weird inconsistencies like How Mega-man's real name is Rock usually but then in shit like Powered up the english version calls him "mega" before he becomes mega man which ruins the pun of rock and roll.

The fact Monster Hunter was a hit where MM failed was because for that entire era, they were flooding the market with MegaMan games every single year with non-stop no breaks. The reality also was that the dwindling audience that did exist at the time, didn't WANT a Chibi-remake of MegaMan 1 or a remake of MMX. No matter how good the quality really was. Apparently they all sat down with Inafune to discuss how to proceed with the X series and instead of X9, they decided on an MMX remake. It was the wrong call. Sure, X7 was a low point for the series and it SUCKED. But X8 actually fixed a lot of problems and got the fans that were there, interested in X9.

Nobody wanted Maverick Hunter X. Even if it is a fantastic remake in hindsight.

They will never, ever admit this.

And to an extent it might be good they do not, given that the current MM audience is mega-trooned out.
Except it's true, when you look back at the sales data for the original games. 2 was a side project and it was a miracle that game was finished at all. The real problem is that MegaMan was always a quick cash grab for Capcom. It was never intended to be a flagship franchise, it just happened to turn out that way. They're the horror movies of video games. Schlock they churned out with low cost and high profits. When Capcom is desperate for revenue again, they'll make a new title.

How Mega-man's real name is Rock usually but then in shit like Powered up the english version calls him "mega" before he becomes mega man which ruins the pun of rock and roll.
That's because English translators are retarded when it comes to this franchise and always have been.

It actually does make sense from the perspective of one who sees the surface of a thing and not the totality.

Consistently, the two favorite games by popularity poll are X1 and X4, with 4 getting higher and higher as the years go by because it's the Popular One With the Waifu. Minecraft did an X1 version. Thus, it makes sense to try and remake X1, if you were to try and do it today where remakes like that are all the rage. It was too early and on a bad system for it.

Let's face it, it's stupid they even asked Inafune about how to continue the X series, or really anything about it past X4. Of course he would just want to do remakes, all he cared about was his OC Zero and he got what he wanted with MMZ.

I understand that, but I played these games on release. NOBODY wanted Maverick Hunter X. There just wasn't a market for it at the time. We were in remake central, but people at the time wanted X9. Sure, Maverick Hunter X was probably the safer bet, but it wasn't the right decision at the moment. I know it sounds a little counter intuitive but that was at the peak of the MegaMan zeitgeist of the 2000s. Maverick Hunter X just wasn't what people wanted and it was on a system kids generally weren't playing.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great game and honestly I'd even say it's one of the best remakes out there, right up with RE:Make. It's a very damn good game, but it just was the wrong time.

I took a look at the comments, and seeing some brainless weirdos commenting saying they're doing it to drive engagement is kinda weird to me. Like, pat yourself on the back - you posted a pointless comment on a 2 hour video just to try and game the algorithm. At least post something of substance rather than some bot-tier comment.

youtube also doesn't give engagement for short comments from people who don't normally interact with your content as far as i know, because it would encourage view-botting and comment botting heavily.

Hah. Wonder where they got their idea, then - Twatter or something?

you see it all over youtube, people saying 'commenting to increase engagement!' but they have no idea that engagement metrics pull from watch time, total comment metrics with comments from new users giving less engagement than comments from users who have had you subscribed for X period, likes/dislikes, and a few other factors that are a bit harder to manipulate, such as if you get a sudden significant influx of viewers that youtube has marked internally as legit, non-bot accounts.

so i guess this means someone like 'thundercunt' here thinks that we should be in the clear. huzzah to thundercunt, champion of the kiwifarms.

That Virtue3D guy, who was one of the few modelers around, got banned from the X DIVE modding server out of nowhere. This was apparently because he was too zealous in going after Revo supporters or something outside of the modding server.

It all sounds extremely silly. There's a whole video of DMs with a mod.

Discord drama, always retarded.
