Closest Mogudan got to normie mainstream was when he did the character designs and artwork for Scrapped Princess* light novels and anime. Everything else he done is either hentai or "what did you mean it's not hentai." As in artwork for Queens Blade, Ikkitousen and probably others I don't know of hand.

*Staying on topic, Scrapped Princess is a mecha-ish LN, anime, manga series that leans hard into Clarke's Third Law and revels in it. Another older mecha OVA series that also lean into Clarke's Third Law is Genesis Survivor Gaiarth. Which also might have been an inspiration for Horizon Zero Dawn. Well for one of the main characters before getting involved in the main plot of the OVAs.

Here's a weird mecha anime that's not even on YT: https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm3281385
In checking to see if the pilot's listed on MAL, I came across this:

Well this looks like a fun watch. And it's got a sequel?

Oh shit, it wasn't liked? Well then, I know what I'm gonna be watching.

The original Dangaioh is good. It's got everything -- Obari animation, great music (including a track lifted from Great Mazinger and Gakeen), spaceships, journeys to different planets, and great designs -- except an ending, since it was cancelled. It even had an audio-drama crossover with Iczer since both OVAs were directed by Hirano. It was originally going to be a Mazinger OVA, but that got scrapped, so they split the project into two OVAs: Dangaioh, which focuses on the robots, and Hagane no Oni, which focuses on the monsters (Hagane no Oni is pretty cool; it's got monolithic Zeorymer-like "mecha" and a cool base). Obari tends to reference Dangaioh a lot in his other anime; Bravern and the Pop Team Epic mecha thing had references to it, and I read that Dancouga Nova was going to be somehow related to Dangaioh at first.
G Dangaioh, on the other hand, is weird. Lots of people despise it, and for good reason -- it doesn't answer most of the questions it asks because it was cancelled halfway through (though it answers some questions from the original OVA), the ending is messy and baffling (I know it's a Great Mazinger reference, but it was still awful), there's tons of fanservice, which culminates in a perverted helper robot and a Ginrei gaiden as a main episode, the main robot is blander than unbuttered toast, and it rips off Evangelion to boot. However, it has plenty of redeeming qualities, mainly the MOTW designs, the stock footage, the OP song, and the base design. People tend to compare it to Dancouga Nova, but Dancouga Nova is way better -- it had a great final battle, excellent designs for everything, a Great Exkaiser reference, and an actual ending.
Personally, I think Z-Mind is a better super robot OVA than anything Dangaioh-related, mainly because the designs are better (and I'm pretty sure the Gundam SEED composer did the music, though I can't confirm that).

Oh shit that's been on my list for years. Saw that randomly and downloaded it wanting to watch it with a brother, but we never got around to it.

It's Kazuo Nobuta. He worked alongside Toshihiko on Burn-Up Scramble, though.

I was going to say before that longer explanation was dropped, isn't Dangaioh considered a "Certified Hood Classic" for mecha anime?

Giving you a heads up, Z-Mind does have a good ending if you stop watching when the credits roll.. However if you fast forward to watch the after credit ending, be prepared to watch a shit ending.

It's one of my favorite quick watches. Wish it was in the more recent SRW games so I could jam out to "cross fight crossfight crossfight" constantly.
It's a shame the only recent mecha related crossover game it's been in (that I know of) is Iron Saga.

But Iron Saga is a dogshit game (even though it has somewhat kino bones).

Bro i just want a new(and good) SRW game. I would even be satisfied if they just released Z1 or even the trilogy or any of the older games.

V, X, and T where my first real SRW games and I wish they would do a western steam release (which I know will never happen). But other than that I would like a remaster of the alpha trilogy or OE because I love me some Keroro Gunsou.

God, no. Not OE. I never want to touch OE again. For every little cool thing it had, there were several other problems besides.

At least it's the most timeframe accurate game. The One Year War literally lasted one year in terms of the game's gradual content releases.
