Magnifico! It's so cool getting to see Armada Starscream and G1 Starscream next to each other. I especially liked how prominent Zone was and how they acknowledged Cybertron Megatron, plus there's tons of beautiful key shots that deserve to become wallpapers or posters of some sort.
Now play the PS2 game. You walk around and jack ATs like GTA then drop the skates with the full VWEEEEEEFinished watching Votoms.
It's alright when it's being Fist of the North Star with mechs or 08th MS Team a decade early, and I'm baffled at how much better this story was able to handle Fyana and Ypsilon compared to all the Cyber-Newtypes in Zeta and ZZ just a couple years later. But past the halfway point it starts being a walking tour of so many other popular sci-fi shows and literature, and I just stop caring.
Eh. I watched this show as homework for Super Robot Wars, hopefully I don't have to watch the later OVAs now that I have no way of tracking them with Aniwave gone.
The 80s OVAs are sidestories and the 2000s OVAs are basically Code Geass in the world of Votoms and make Chirico even more super duper special, so you're not missing much.Eh. Absolutely not! Diebuster is far, far in the future of Gunbuster, and while Gunbuster had all sorts of cool stuff like spaceships and time dilation, Diebuster is just a super power anime with robots that don't even look like robots, no meaningful story to speak of, and lots of nudity (even a rape scene). If you want a Gunbuster sequel, read the recently-translated Next Generation novel.I was considering watching Diebuster but I don’t know much about it besides it’s a sequel, is it worth checking out?
I think Diebuster has a lot of the heart of the original even if it's messy in places. The ending made me tear up.I just finished Gunbuster a few days ago, honestly it was good for something that was so short, through I do think the pacing suffered just a little bit because of the short length, and the cut corners on the 6 episode (the battle scene which could have been really cool if it was fully animated but, regardless it was still enjoyable for what it was. I have to say it had a very “bleak” feel to it, the whole concept and idea of time dilation is pretty fucking scary all things considered, for something that came out in 1988 the animation is beautiful and it gives me a weird nostalgic feeling for missing how mecha used to be animated back in the day.

Eh Diebuster is as the kids say "Mid" i saw it and didnt quite clicked with me since it doesnt feel like part of Gunbuster and its more of a super robot anime that just happens to be set in the Gunbuster setting. The MC in Diebuster is trash compared to best female pilot Noriko. God how i wish they would remake Gunbuster with better animations, the Super Inazuma Kick with good animation will make me erect.I just finished Gunbuster a few days ago, honestly it was good for something that was so short, through I do think the pacing suffered just a little bit because of the short length, and the cut corners on the 6 episode (the battle scene which could have been really cool if it was fully animated but, regardless it was still enjoyable for what it was. As a code geass enjoyer i can tell you that i personally dont hate Roze, more like im disappointed. The serie started off pretty fucking good, but then went to shit after the 3rd episode. Roze as a character doesnt have a development as a character and it is funny that the only character that has some sort of character development is Ash "Socially retarded" Phoenix(favorite character btw) i just wish the serie wouldve been expanded upon more. Doesnt help that its only 12 episodes so that means they have to essentially speedrun the anime and wrap up the story. Mech wise i was satisfied, except for the antagonist suit since i didnt like it personally. Also mind you if you read the manga for code geass, mecha aint as prominent as the anime. Finally i didnt like the ending for the serie because what she does to herself is pretty retarded when you remember that geass cancellers exist in the setting. All that said it was a fun watch despite all i said and if you like code geass i recommend reading Renya of Darkness.I don’t know why people hate roze of the recapture so much. of course the fujoshi aren’t gonna give a shit about anything new if their lulusuzu ship isn’t in it and anime isn’t known for well written plots like starsiege and other western IP’s.
The fanbase seems really close minded and has no interest in the series stepping away from Gundam and more into its own identity. The new knightmares were all pretty neat and only one of them resembled lancelot, the Zi-apollo. Im impressed that they learned to not just copy paste the lancelot in various color schemes anymore. It was definitely more of a glorified 12 episode commercial to sell toys than a proper 26 episode true followup to a post-R2 world.
Yeah the story did start to become rather schizophrenic after episode 3 between the neo britannian leaders being more prone to kill each other for no reason than any actual resistance being necessary and there being no real master plan by Norland for anything. He was just a rich edgelord with an OP Ubermech that had more point defense hardpoints than a well armed cruiser. With a pointless string of assassinations in a subplot that goes nowhere that really irritates me the most. Same with that Neo Britannian guy just releasing Sakuya from her geass prisoner cell when he basically won with an autistic attempt to recruit Ash. Which obviously ends with him being turned into a red paste by the Zi-Apollo and yet another prison break but there are no guards there at all for some reason. As a code geass enjoyer i can tell you that i personally dont hate Roze, more like im disappointed.
