Grendizer U is coming out July 5th. Some things to note:
  • Grendizer's spazer has its own launch sequence -- very cool!
  • Duke wears a shirt with a clothing window -- possible under-the-radar gay bait?
  • Mazinger has red lines under its eyes -- could it become Mazinkaiser?
  • There are land and underwater spazers that can combine with Grendizer.
  • Aqua Grendizer's weapon teleports, much like Great Exkaiser's sword.
  • Remember the "promise to kill" from the first trailer? It appears that Duke will indeed go evil, which will result in plenty of melodrama.

I’m really hoping it sticks the landing, the music sounds fire. I just hope the story isn’t a mess like Shin Mazinger.

On the topic of other mecha. Is Overman King Gainer any good? I’m aware of it from one of the SRW games but I don’t know much about it besides it being made by one of the people who made Gundam.

Watched episode 10 of GunParade Orchestra and the animal people from the OP appeared with their big cats. Not sure if this second half will focus on these new cast of characters since I was liking the previous one.

Would be a very strong case of pot calling kettle black cause U.S.A. animation outside of Disney, vintage Warner Brothers and Fleischer had its period of animation that sucked and blowed. Same for Japan during the post WWII 1940ies and more recently West Taiwan China.

Thread tax if anybody is looking for more fan service mecha anime (with cliffhanger ending) here's Dangaizer 3.

Mecha recommendation: Break Blade.
Manga/Anime

Follows Rygart(Chad) whose the only human who cant operate the mechs in the setting since he cant use "magic" but the Mecha Gods demand a plot and by god they will give it to us which leads to the finding of the mech Delphine which can be piloted by non magic users.

The Delphine is pretty cool and fast, works on a time limit but some of the fights involving it are pretty cool and it has a big ass shuriken which he uses to attack and propel Delphine to gain speed.

I think I'll start Dragonar when I finish one of the series I'm currently watching. Escaflowne is on the list to since I only watched the movie as a kid.

I watched Rayearth last year, it was pretty peak. Wish Toonami aired it back in the day, kid me would've been obsessed with it (same if they aired the 2000 Sakura Wars TV series).

If you like Dragonar, you should watch Dendoh since it's Dragonar with wheel legs. Dendoh is one of my favourite anime in general; it has lots of cool strategies, the leader of the secret organization is a Sayla clone with a cool bike and a Sukeban Deka yo-yo, and the final villain is a Sho Hayami character with Exkaiser armor.

Oh hell yeah, I am always up for Sho Hayami hellcreatures

I like to imagine in the Build Fighters/Divers universe, Ghinius and Nimbus live together with their pet ferret, Rommel (and Nimbus beats the shit out of Iznario when he tries to creep on them).

Dragonar is the best as far as all those off-brand Gundams Sunrise tried out. It's really entertaining, has a fun cast. Lots of fun enemy ace squads like the Gon Jem and Practice squads.

Far better than something like the more recent Kyoukai Senki.

Went down a local hero rabbit hole, and found some cool mecha:

Obari Ryujin Bank CM, the most well-known local hero robot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzZRc1dTcXQ
Railway Warrior Shadan (the toy is cooler than most official illustrations and it has flashing railway lights in its chest): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ayi_FUFfKk
Super Polite Robo, from the Japanese Ad Council: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNyw-Tts1yU
Power Robo, from HR company Sanko: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRHY2meHGpQ
Magidesk A: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGSFHSacKVc
Rapi:tldier, featuring Amuro and Sailor Mercury cosplayers and a super cool hero based on the Rapi:T: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rR9VMQTHeo

And now for Korean stuff:
Metal Cardbot, the closet we've gotten to an earnest modern Brave anime with robots that are a noticable upgrade from Hello Carbot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdpQQ0-oaSQ
Maxman, a toku with some of the coolest toku robots I've seen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vb26N1tDk7w
Vectorman, the sequel to Maxman -- not bad but Maxman is better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb_QuGL2jZQ

Some other ultra-obscure stuff:
Grandbraver, aka Episode 7 of Mayoi Neko Overload: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8TUlLD_mW0
Seraphim Call, a weird experimental Sunrise show with three mecha-based episodes (1, 8, and 12): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QVv07h3hzA
DT Eightron, often mocked as a lazy Eva clone but is actually pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiJkO-5ymoQ
Tri-Zenon, a weird show that should by all accounts not exist (but I'm glad it does because it's super cool): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsMetxgvhWg

Future GPX has an episode where the MC runs away to a bar after making a fatal mistake. I have to say, this show is a lot more sci-fi and a lot less battle shonen than I expected -- I especially like the non-racing episodes, like the blood transfusion episode and the kidnapper episode.
