All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Oh look! It he has an advisor that thinks the Left are to blame for the decline of industry, and that they want "ethnic cleansing" of the working class whites.

I would say this was shocking, but at this point why not? We already turned removed all meaning with the term from the Yugoslav Wars. I'm not even shocked anymore. I'm actually tired. I've nearly severed the land line personally, have enough junk mail to keep me through the winter at this rate, and can't listen to NPR anymore because I get a mindfucking headache

I'm really not shocked by the Trump campaign anymore. I've written them off as white nationalists and leave it at that. The thing that's amazing to me though is how the MSM seems to be avoiding this for the most part. The print press doesn't (not at all), but CNN and MSNBC (never mind FOX) seem more into wondering if this "pivot" is for real rather than looking at the specifics of the people that Trump is getting into bed with, which is where the real sleaze is

They were originally grooming Chris Christie for the presidential nomination back in 2012, but a few major scandals (including closing down a major bridge from New Jersey to New York, causing unbelievable traffic jams for days) all but torpedoed his chances this year.
That and hugging Obama. It still amuses me that people made a stink about that.

There's a video (can't seem to find it) from when Obamacare was passed of a bunch of dems and republicans in congress doing a press conference or something. So they both say their bit, the republicans say they're going to fight that shit tooth and nail and death panels etc etc etc end of America, then before the camera fades out you for a split second see them all break character and start laughing and shaking hands and shit.

The base takes the Obama hate more seriously than the actual politicians encouraging it do. Now it's starting to devour them.

I think it'll devour the Democrats too. I don't see Hillary Clinton being the last corrupt party boss they put forward just because the other side looks bad.

Most political systems have this.

"We hate you on screen but if you look the other way while we steal buddy, we'll do the same to you"

Politics is like wrestling, everyone's ultimately playing a character. Although like wrestling, that doesn't stop some people from being genuine assholes.

What state? I don't live there, but I went to Florida for a bit just after Trump came around, and a bunch of my (conservative) relatives talked him up.

Louisiana, specifically the southern part of the state. The only signs I was seeing during the primaries were for Trump, Cruz and Hillary; though I'm sure Bernie had some vocal supporters around UNO and Tulane. I'm not surprised Jeb had support in Florida considering he's their former governor.

Back in 2012, people actually thought Santorum could beat Romney...until he got BTFO in his home state in every county, and withdrew after results showed he lost by 468,374 to 149,056 votes. I feel like the homestate advantage is dead in this day and age, especially as demographics shift to where states like Georgia and Texas are fucking contested.

Maybe I misread Mungo, but I thought he was saying his relatives were talking up Jeb Bush. As for home State advantage, I don't remember if Jindal pulled out before or after our primary, but he had absolutely no support here since he lost all of his goodwill during his second term.

So wait, what the fuck is Trump doing? He says he wants a humane and practical solution to the illegal immigrant crisis, but he says he isn't flip flopping on immigration. What?
"So you have somebody who's been in the country for 20 years, has done a great job and everything else and OK. Do we take him and the family, and her and him or whatever and send them out?"

Internet bullshit is apparently being used as a boogeyman again.

Considering how both sides are attacking the other because of their fringe groups holding views they may or may not support, this is par for the course. Its not like Trump is making it very hard to draw that conclusion.

Honestly this reminds me of this one guy who once came up to me when I worked at a theater, and went on a casual rant about how we need to round up all those "towelheads" and throw them into camps "like we did to the japs in WWII". However what was so jarring about it was that he insisted it would be humane since we wouldn't kill them and "they would be allowed to build little tin huts" or something equally bizarre like that.

These kinds of people have this horribly warped perception of what is considered "humane" when it comes to those darn darkies, so really this seems totally plausible.

Sorry if I misspoke, but that is exactly what I was trying to say. As for home state advantages, I think Hillary will get her home state, but that isn't exactly saying much. The home state advantage is definitely going the way of the bellwether state.

thank u trump for ur donation to correct the record the clinton foundation
Trump was all about the Hilldog before he ran for president, a fact which is oft commented upon but that he pretends was just him trying to get political favors (as if being openly corrupt is somehow okay).

UKIP's Nigel Farage to speak at Trump rally
The BBC said:
Outgoing UKIP leader Nigel Farage is to address supporters of Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Mississippi later.

He will appear before 15,000 activists in Jackson, although it is unclear whether he will share the stage with the Republican presidential nominee.

Mr Farage told local radio in the state that the similarities between Brexit and the US election were "uncanny".

Mr Trump, who is trailing his rival Hillary Clinton in the opinion polls, backed the UK's exit from the EU.

In a tweet last week, Mr Trump said: "They will soon be calling me Mr Brexit."

"Great" minds think alike, I suppose. I like how Farage is still insisting that no, Brexit's gonna be great for Britain, and that all the currency devaluations and economic repercussions were just unexplainable phenomena.

Yeah... I heard another bunch of Big Pharma fucks (because that's all I see them as!) raised their drug prices on their product (an anti-allergy drug) over 400% in costs. And yet none of the presidential candidates are talking about this and how this BADLY affects the masses, either! I've said before - THIS is where our outrage should be. THIS is an issue that needs to be addressed, due to how it hurts everyone (as sooner or later, this could mean every drug that could be life saving will only be affordable by the super rich, leaving us lowly over 300 millions out to die (when it's us citizens who together, despite our differences, built this nation and help it to run every day!) as a result of their selfishness and their greed.).

Again, I love how neither candidate is doing fucking nothing that could encourage people to at least vote for them - like how they'll deal with shit like this...

Also, @Mungo - Brexit was good for the UK, BS happening there that's bad right now aside. FACT.

Well Trump's solution is go back to the way shit was before, you know, when policyholders could be denied coverage for costly procedures and the medicare coverage gap was a chasm. He's bought into the GOP brand of bad ideas of letting insurence companies sell across state lines which is fucking horrifying.

Clinton wants to continue course (running the SS Obamacare through several coral reefs) but she claims she going to incentivize Medicare (lol good luck, most governors have their heads too far up their ass to take the money) and expand services so rural Americans have access. Sounds good in theory but practically pointless.
I say this because that won't fix the reality that the enrollment numbers are lower from where they should be in most projections and providers are getting nervous and want to raise premiums to make up for it. The FDA should be collaberating with their Canadian and Western European versions to make it legal to import medicine that costs way too fucking much here, and care providers should be required to provide a more detailed cost breakdown on medical bills.
