All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

Just wondering when the GOP and Trump are brought up about policy concerns, it seems to be a de facto assumption that anything the GOP writes up will be passed by both houses?

The thing is, when the GOP proposes something crazy I can always rely on the Democrats in opposition to block, amend, compromise, if not out of an ethical duty, then because they model themselves as the anti-thesis of the GOP, or the "opposing sports team" as US politics seems to be. But if the Democrats are in power and they want to do something bad, the GOP appear to be fine with playing along.

AFAIK due to the incredibly confusing electoral college, delegates, super delegates, there is almost no way for a third representative, let alone third party, to obtain the Presidency.
Its more about getting that sweet 5% of the vote than anything. Also I'm comfortable with a candidate I voted for not winning. I'd prefer that over lending support to either Trump or Clinton.

The Trump campaign needs more folks like @TrippinKahlua: An Honest Injun organic anchor-baby support coalition.

A lot of Brazilian American's will vote for Trump.
Including my uncle.
The apostrophe is for possessive markers in English. Not plurals.

From some of the articles I've read, Political Scientists have said it turned out civil libertarians were worse off in a Democrat controlled Government. Because simply when in power, they don't historically vote against bills that erode personal freedoms. Whereas in a Republican controlled Government, they tend to take a more leftist, or perhaps just oppositional stance on the voting of those types of bills.
None of that means anything this year. Trump is the least libertarian Republican candidate since Pat Buchanan, and libertarian policies that somehow manage to survive on his platform are always the first planks he throws under the bus in attempts to broaden his appeal. As seen by his immediate concurrence with Obama and Hillary after the Pulse Massacre to use the Terror-Watch List for national gun control.

As for Trump, I don't think he is some sinister threat by himself. He has handlers, he has advisors, he has PR people. He'll probably just be Gaffe and One liner city though, in Press situations. I expect GW lite. That's not what worries me really. The press has attempted to rile up the public against him so much, and spun so many doomsday scenarios, I half expect multiple riots as people think the world is ending and America is over. He'll get no love from the press if he won, he'd be criticised and parodied and such by the media 24 hours a day I think. As if he was President on 9/11 but he flew the planes into the towers himself.
Trump can't even sit still and focus on any subject, including himself, for more than a few minutes at a time. Even with no ideas of his own, no retardation that severe will ever be benign.

The media's done no favors here. They've cried wolf on so many matters and two-faced indefensible actions by the politicians they themselves favor'd, most of the country ignores them instinctively. Now that we have someone who's every bit as bad as his hype, nowhere near enough people care.

Even if they are right about everything about Trump, the media will be a complete pushover once Hillary is in, I expect a plethora of "Glass ceilings Broken" articles (Apparently head of state on other countries, CEO's and Queens never counted). If you thought the media was a bit soft on Obama, look at the email scandal, and she's not even President yet. The media would happily report one of their colleagues attempting to whistleblow Government corruption, who cares he's probably a Trump supporter anyway, not even fit to be called human.

Something like the media actually accomplishing something in this day-in-age, such as the Watergate scandal. Imagine that playing out today, do you think anyone would get charged, do you think anyone would be accused? Do you think anyone would even write an article about it? It seems the founding fathers did not plan for TV, the Internet, marketing firms and people stuck in grueling 90 hour work weeks that pay a pittance, and people being so tired they don't even have enough time to think anymore.

Anyone in America can let me know why Obamacare is dying? I thought it was actually a pretty good idea. Because powers that be surely don't want a real Public Health system in what is a multibillion dollar industry. So I figured this was the best they could come up with aside from the US Government buying out every insurer.

The federal government left it up to every state government to implement it, so in many states with Republican legislatures, it didn't get much support from the state government and was bound to fail from the start in those places

Doesn't seem to quite fit though, looking at the breakdown. Sure, many of the states are GOP controlled so you could say its a partisan thing. However, some of the failing Obamacare legislatures are Democrat Governor with GOP Assembly and vice versa. And a few of them are Democrat controlled completely. Is it a corruption issue? Is someone pocketing money here they shouldn't?

What makes it worse is that in other first world nations, healthcare isn't treated as a business, unlike here. And with how the GOP treat things like business better than their constituency, you can see why they (along plenty of bought-and-sold Dems) don't want cheap/affordable, as well as efficient healthcare for anyone but themselves, while expecting us citizens to pay for it through our taxes.

THIS right here - one of many things that should be an election issue, knowing how Obamacare is a huge failure - see for example skyrocketing medicine and insurance/care costs that were supposed to be quelled under said system, as well as the lack of a single-payer option, which would have been the ultimate step in the right direction...

In short, too much undermining of something that would have helped all citizens by corporate interests (whose only bottom line is to fatten themselves up.) and BS propaganda from both sides (the real enemies we citizens need to be weary of and vigilant against in the US; not (just) the Koran-thumpers!).

Many Western Governments outside America are attempting to slowly erode away their public services, including healthcare, either through defunding, or by simply selling off parts of it. Not because they don't work. But because the American Insurers see a new possible market to exploit and are willing to do whatever it takes to continue to report growth and profits to its shareholders.

Can't really do much about it, they have the money, they have the lobby groups.

Probably. If I had to guess, having a multibillion dollar industry be put into an idiotic system that requires all citizens of age to buy into a predatory market that shouldn't exist in the first place or pay fines probably opens up abuses that we haven't even thought of yet. The fact that the rest of the world seems to be regressing on this is ominous.

Hey could be worse, Dick Cheney, Karl Rove, Henry Kissinger, Sarah Palin?

Well, Palin was already a vocal Trump supporter as of a few months back.

Is it a corruption issue? Is someone pocketing money here they shouldn't?

It always is. A while back, that dick Martin Shkreli bought the company that produced Daraprim - the only company that produced a drug needed by AIDS and cancer patients - and subsequently raised the price from $13.50 to $750 per fucking pill. And then spent the money he basically stole from sick people to buy that dumb 'art piece' only-produced copy of a Wu-Tang album he's never going to listen to. The people who sold him the damn thing didn't learn about this shit until after the sale was done, ultimately giving most of the money to charity in turn. Likewise, Congress ultimately got involved and that dickbag was forced to step down.

Except last I heard, the price of that critical drug is still $750 a pill under the new management which seems just as greedy as the last. The fact our current system allows those fucks to screw over a small subset of the population who need that drug to live when only a few years ago it was produced at a cost 50 times below that inflated scalper's ransom really shows how the government is powerless and unwilling to touch big business hiding behind commercialization law.
