All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

Man, I didn't even realize what I was starting. I will only nitpick this:

That doesn't mean "the most"

I am going to assume you are not a native English speaker to your benefit, and inform you that yes, yes it does. The extraordinary, meaning "remarkable or unusual", daily cost (who is paying the price, footing the bill, getting fucked, whatever) does imply that America has suffered "the most." Which means "the greatest amount", just to be clear. This is a line of thought about illegal immigration Mr.Trump pushes all the time- that America is the one who truly suffers- and whether or not the wall is a good idea is not going to change that that is clearly how he feels.

But with Hillary at least there is a chance to get shit done, even if ultimately underhanded. Trump has declared bankruptcy multiple times and is famous for literally not giving a shit about others from Apprentice. He couldn't even be bothered to quote two words from the Bible correctly! Combined with how he's alienated damn near every minority group in the country, he sure as hell isn't going to be the one to magically fix their social issues.

Hillary will probably get some things done, but at the detriment of the country. She's a big fan of the progressive agenda and I feel she will pretty much be Obama. Unfortunately, that means more calls for gun control, diversity and "equality". And even then, she will mainly try to consolidate power for herself. She's Trump with a filter.

I remain hopeful that we can still address some of these bigger issues, humanity has been able to adapt and come back from far worse. Hell, it looked like the whole world was sliding into a depression just 8 years ago and growth was expected to become grossly inverted.

The problem with the recovery was that it was very uneven. The only people that "recovered" from the recession were the extremely rich. Everyone else pretty much got left to their own devices.

The big difference I'm seeing right now between Hillary and Trump is all wrapped up in the power of the Executive branch. Hillary will continue the norm of the past twenty years by trying to increase the office's power. Given how you view Obama's record in this regard, Hillary should be as successful/unsuccessful.

With Trump and what will be a highly irritable Congress, if he tries the usual overreach/power grab, he's liable to be slapped the fuck down. It is possible they might dump the USA Freedom Act before the 2019 expiration solely because they view him as an idiot.

So, maybe a blessing of unintended consequences here. The possibility is there where Congress might actually stop ceding power to the President and fight back for once. Just give the Donald his sandcastle to build his wall and take away all this eroded power Congress has been letting go of.

The worst Trump can be is ineffectual, I doubt he'll get his more extreme ideas pushed through congress, instead of a wall and blanket ban on muslims, we'll at best/worst just see more funding put into border security and stricter standards on immigrating from certain countries. Hillary has the democratic establishment on her side and won't have any problem implementing her more hawkish foreign policy, the one that allowed ISIS to spread in the first place by giving money and weapons to '''moderate'' Syrian rebels and contributing to the destabilization of the region. If Trump really is awful, he'll be gone after 4 years, Hillary has backing from the party elite, big business, Saudi Arabia... she'll become an unkillable cockroach if she wins in November. If she wins, she'll win again in 2020 unless she fucks up on a truly massive scale.

I hear all the time how illegal immigration is the worst job killer, but I hardly see a source.

She'll put put in her place like LBJ, another party elite who's Icarus flight of policy cost his party the next election. At this point, the GOP need to focus on minimizing losses to the Senate, and put the screws to Clinton like they did in the 1990's. No gun control will get through, Roe won't be expanded, and tranny bathrooms will be an afterthought for all but the culture warriors. A GOP Senate (or atleast one without a Democratic super majority is starting to look like the best hope for pro-lifer like me...because all 4 of the biggest parties are dog shit.

Unfortunately tranny bathrooms are what I'm least worried about, but a continuation of what we've seen over the last 16 years: Foreign interventions with disastrous consequences, the continued expansion of the executive branch's power, "economic stimulus" policies aimed at helping massive corporations and banks with taxpayer money but does nothing for the average taxpayer, with the occasional bone thrown to identity politics to distract from the above issues.

My problem is its going to be a fucking matter of discussion started by culture warriors trying to start the second Christian Right. The GOP platform picked a lot of fine points in social policy, but trannys is the least of my worries, and they're going to have a lot of their own die on the hill for conversion therapy of all things. All while the roads continue to rot away in many places, but nobody will put forward plans to fix them.

Because this "morality" has come at the expense of American citizens.

I don't care about the rest of the world. It's not my job as an American citizen to give a rat's patoot about the rest of the world. Our relationships with other countries should be strictly strategic. If there's any reason to vote Trump, it's that he puts America first, and slams the door in the face of refugees so we can fix our own problems foremost.

A morality where we sacrifice ourselves for others isn't a morality, it's suicide.

Thanks for reminding me why protesters keep attacking you people.

It's nice Trump's Russian crime buddies are helping him out like this. It's what friends do.

They're probably gonna throw a barbecue when this is all over.

Shit imagine if the shoe was on the other foot- The RNC and trump got hacked and a foreign power could be involved. You wouldn't hear the end of it. "HILLARY'S WORKING WITH RUSSIA? THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY, TREAAAAAAAAAAAAT"

Anybody remember that South Park episode where the school had to vote between a douche and a turd?

Seems somewhat appropriate these days.
