All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

(Note- The title will change as we get nearer the election, previous titles will be archived in the OP)

As you would expect the Huffington post in having a field day with this shit.

Kurt Bardella, who quit as Breitbart's spokesman on Friday over the news site's handling of an assault on its own reporter at a Donald Trump press conference, said that he could no longer go on.

"It became untenable for me personally to continue in this situation. If you can't give 100 percent, you can't represent your client," Bardella, who also represents country music bands in Nashville, told HuffPost.

He added, "This shit just sucks."

In Bardella's view, the violence on the campaign trail is getting out of hand and needs to be called out. "There is this escalating pattern of behavior that's only happening at Donald Trump events. It's incredibly dangerous. His rhetoric is unmistakable and it is calculated and it is intentional," Bardella said.

BuzzFeed News first reported Bardella's resignation.

Asked why Breitbart seems to be siding with the Trump campaign over its reporter Michelle Fields, Bardella said he wasn't sure. "I think there certainly appears to be conflicting agendas at play here. Your guess is as good as mine," he said.

He added that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski had not, as was previously reported, admitted to the assault. In a text message exchange with Breitbart's Matt Boyle, Lewandowski only said that he didn't know Fields was a Breitbart reporter and that he would look into the situation, according to Bardella.

Fields has filed a police report against Lewandowski. Video has also emerged showing that, despite Breitbart's earlier protestations to the contrary, Lewandowski reached out toward Fields and appeared to grab her -- as even the news site is now acknowledging.

UPDATE: 11:40 p.m. -- Bardella told CNN's Don Lemon on Friday night that he disagrees with Brietbart's coverage of the incident with Fields and "how they have treated Michelle."

"I think they have been looking for a reason to disprove something," Bardella said.

"Are you saying they are lying?" Lemon asked.

"Yes, I am," Bardella answered.

It's ironic that Breitbart is now attacking their own reporter's version of events.<

Is he actually being charged as in legal action is being taken?
The reporter has gone to the police and filed a report accusing this guy of assaulting her so I would be shocked if the DA doesn't file charges. The alleged assault was even filmed so its pretty clear that a crime did indeed take place.

A bit late, but this wasn't an accident. This was a cynical ploy by Hillary to court old Reaganites who don't want to vote for Trump or Cruz.

"How the hell could she think she could get away with something like this?," is something I would ask about almost anyone else: but this is the woman who called DOMA a "defensive action" to Rachel Maddow's face.

I forgot how scummy the Reagans were domestically
In fairness to the Reagans -- in the same way as FDR's Executive Order 9066 was an overwhelmingly popular plank at the time despite being utterly execrable and the act itself being a sin upon the soul of said Commander-in-Chief -- AIDS was seen as nothing more than "the gay disease" by the supermajority of the nation until the likes of Ryan White and David Kirby gradually started to change public attitudes. It was horrible, but it was a horror with broad support.

This.

She's trying to triangulate like Bill did in the 1990. Not only was it disastrous in the long run but the democratic base AND the american public will not accept a politician like that anymore. This is why she's gonna have a hard time dealing with Trump.

Agreed, but with one caveat.

Trump, tragically, has been successful with his own type of "triangulation." But it's very distinct from Clinton's in that:
  1. His base is both unused to being triangulated and so sick of being kicked around that they see themselves in the same position as the early 90s Democrats.
  2. Trump, in the process of triangulating, doesn't sugarcoat his words or use "lawyerspeak" to simultaneously appeal to two different sides of the same issue at once. This has also allowed him to outflank Cruz.
  3. Where the Clintons have always used political correctness as a weapon to bolster their support and silence criticism, Trump's appeal is that he doesn't have a PC bone in his body.
Con artists rarely change the core schemes. They just change the words, the hype, and the marks. It also helps when the marks feel desperate and are actively looking for something "too good to be true" from the start.

Expect to hear a lot of noise about Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Peter Kirsanow, or someone else like that.

Why not go full crazy and pick Alan Keyes?

Come to think of it, he'd be a good fit for the blood drinking maniac who is the subject of this thread, too.

ETA: This post was in the Augustus Sol Invictus thread before it was moved here, and it is he I meant when I said "this thread."

Slightly off topic, but Trump, from what friends have told me, really, really wants to pick a black running mate. From my own personal analysis, it makes sense. The only way he can win is by maintaining support from disaffected white voters from the right, center, and center-left, while simultaneously re-targeting his message towards inner-city black voters; essentially, he'll be using the same anti-illegal immigration arguments he is now, emphasizing the issue of unemployment. Expect to hear a lot of noise about Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Peter Kirsanow, or someone else like that.
I get this. But I can't think of any black Trump could pick who'd accept, wouldn't make him look like he's backing off in some way, wouldn't Sarah-Palin his brand, and doesn't seem like a loser in the eyes of voters due to past political failures.

Then again, I've been so bad at predicting shit this year, even picking Allen West would probably turn out alright for the orange motherfucker.

Colin Powell. Serious if McCain would have picked Powell over Palin he would have spanked Obama's ass so hard that he would still be crying.

We really have no idea what Trump will do. Colin Powell is my VP pick for him that will actually work.

Barring that, Trump should pick Sanders. Sanders is such a wildcard, just like Trump.

That being said Hillary should take Sanders. He's a fucking wildcard. Hillary taking him will unite the Democrats.

Out of the potential black candidates for a VP slot on the Trump ticket, Powell seems like he'd be the least likely to accept the nomination.

CLEVELAND -- Despite rebukes and calls for civility from Republicans like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, Donald Trump’s army of supporters are with him now more than ever.

A day after protesters forced the GOP front-runner to cancel an event in Chicago amid ugly clashes not seen during political rallies in decades, the atmosphere among supporters in Cleveland felt more subdued thanks to a beefed-up security presence.

The rally, held at a massive exhibition center near the Cleveland airport, felt pretty run-of-the-mill compared to other Trump events. Families and children clad in Trump gear munched on pizza and enjoyed ice cream, giving the venue somewhat of a carnival vibe. It was a far cry from Friday’s skirmishes, nor did it require U.S. Secret Service members to hurriedly encircle the candidate after a man rushed the stage, as occurred at a rally earlier in the day in Dayton.

Still, the presidential hopeful’s nearly 40-minute-long speech was interrupted seven times by protesters, some of who shouted “Black Lives Matter,” the slogan protesting violence toward African Americans. Trump claimed they were organized by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who denied the allegation later in the day.

"These are Bernie's people," Trump said, repeating the charge after each successive protester was led out of the room. “They have no voice. It’s a Bernie person. Hey, Bernie, get your people in line!”
"Yesterday in Chicago we had a little bit of a problem. We were not allowed to exercise our First Amendment rights," he said. "It just makes all of our friends and supporters more angry."

"My people aren’t violent,” he added, to huge applause. “It’s these people that come in.”

Friday’s violence prompted condemnations from Trump’s rivals, even those who have been hesitant to criticize the brash businessman in the past. Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), whom Trump criticized heavily during Saturday’s rally, accused the real estate mogul of fostering a “toxic environment” at his events. A visibly disturbed Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Saturday that Trump’s rhetoric reminded him of “third-world strongmen” and further seemed to back away from his vow to support the future GOP nominee, whoever he may be. And Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said that Trump's campaign “affirmatively encourages violence.”
Those people come to get punched,” said Ed Honeywill, a 60-year-old wearing Harley-Davidson gear who sells car stereos in Pittsburgh. “Those people come to object to what’s going on. We didn’t ask for them to come. We’re here having a meeting. And they want to come disrupt it? They deserve what they get. They brought that upon themselves when they walked in that door, that hell might break out. And it did. What did they think was going to happen?”
Other Trump supporters said they saw a more sinister -- if not outlandish -- scheme at the heart of Friday’s violence in Chicago.

“That was all staged by the higher-ups in the Republican Party, because they’re afraid of Trump,” said Jeff Marshaus, 53. “You won’t get the top names coming out saying it, but they don’t want Trump.”

Marshaus, who works as a truck driver in Cleveland, added, “Trump can’t control it. He’s just one person. It’s not like he’s saying go out and do this. We’re all individuals. He can’t control everybody.”

Trumps fans are fucking terrifying.

If this was planned by Trump, it was a brilliant move. Suddenly he's the voice of law and reason standing against dangerous, violent criminals.

The Chicago Rally was held near a radical left-wing campus, and in fucking Chicago. Of course this shit's planned. I wouldn't be surprised if he keeps this up until someone's killed at one of these things, and at this rate such an incident will just galvanize support for him.

Most people who don't use the phrase "intersectional" in a negative context already despise the PC/Occupy/BLM/SJW crowd which makes up the most vocal faction of anti-Trumpites on principle, and these rallies offer the perfect chance to vent their frustrations. Hell, I'd join these motherfuckers if the man they were aiming to give the nukes to wasn't a narcissistic sociopath who shouldn't be allowed contact with an electrical socket for fear of starting a fire. We'll reach late 60s territory at this rate.
