All discussion of the candidates, updates and results should go here

For example- here's a video of Ted Cruz vying for world domination.

Also Hilary Clinton is a crook and nobody should have sex with her.

Discuss

Hanging out on edgy internet websites has really skewed your perception of how the public at large feels about Hillary.
Although tradition holds the Clintons can do basically whatever the fuck they want, I remember hearing even NPR cite a poll putting the number of voters that trust Hillary somewhere in the thirty percent range. That's gonna be tough no matter how many blacks she's brought to heel.

Black people like Hillary? Why? Just because she's not Sanders? (And I don't understand why Sanders is so disliked by black people in the first place. Just because he's not RACEWAR 24/7?)

I've never really understood why, but yeah. For whatever reason common wisdom is that she's well recieved in black demographics.

It's tragic. Black American voters are actually worse informed than White Americans.

Definitively true. His fervent belief that the electorate at large is going to throw riots over a 25 year old case that was litigated to death during the Clinton years is eloquent testimony.

But it is what it is. I'm looking forward to his explaining that he never said Hilary couldn't win in December.

There's always a new Clinton scandal to disgust enough voters out of participating in the election to make a difference. Combine that with all the independents and non-voters Trump has supporting him, and Hillary's in a precarious spot.

I see Hilary's chances have already been upgraded from "non-existent" to "precarious"

The amount of autistic butthurt on Reddit over Bernie's loss is insane. There's been a slapfight between Trump and Sanders supporters brewing for weeks now, but lately it's just boiled over into absurdity, even by Reddit standards.

No, I'm still certain Trump'll win. I'm just saying you shouldn't be so optimistic about Hillary when this is the exact same thing people were saying about Trump's chances against every serious opponent he's had this year.

Why are you so optimistic about Hillary's chances anyway? What makes her any different from Rubio, Bush, Cruz, Perry, Walker, or Jindal?

Because the Democratic voter coalition as mobilised by Obama in 2008 and 2012 will win by default as long as it turns out, and Trump's appeal is almost entirely outside of that coalition.

I'm also puzzled by Sanders lack of appeal to black folks. The dude marched with MLKjr and got arrested protesting in Selma. He was hardly a major figure in civil rights, just a young foot soldier, but he was still actually in it.

As for his communist "gaffes" that make him sound like he's a communist... Well...

I could understand Hilary getting a majority of the black vote but it's the overwhelming percentages that are surprising- especially considering she said this:

Imagine if a big bad republican said that. The dems would never let them get away with it. Hilary can.

Trump has three major problems with becoming President.
The first, of course, is the primary itself. The Establishment is hell bent on stopping him from getting the nomination, with the only major saving grace is that they may waffle on that choice if it means Cruz instead. A brokered convention with the game plan of thwarting Trump might well lead to a third party bid and a massive mess that the GOP can't easily fix--and a Democratic Presidency is basically a given.

Trump also loses if the GOP wants him to lose badly enough that it tries its own third party bid. It wouldn't take much to sink Trump in a national election. Trump is real good about picking fights with people; I'm less sure about winning the peace afterward, and if he moves forward with the nomination with diehard resistance on his side, that's also going to fall apart.

Trump has to somehow win the General Election, and the math for that looks rough: Projected
Hillary just needs to win a couple of the white States; Trump basically needs to win them all. Trump didn't win Minnesota or Iowa in the primaries; Ohio and Florida have voted blue over the last 8 years.

What I've got to admit about Trump is that he's radically changed the viability of many political strategies. He's proven that much of the assumptions of how to run a campaign are fundamentally flawed. Maybe as a result, the GOP can stop constantly trying to lick the shoes of the 1%. It's a stretch, but I'd probably vote for Trump over most of the GOP Field if I had to vote in the primary.

But Hillary is probably going to win it.

So, the impression I'm getting is that black rights groups nowadays are all passion, no action. So they want lots of people to get SUPER MAD about WHITEY. They don't really have any ideas on how to fix issues in Black America. Just, y'know, YELLING and SAFE SPACES and INTERSECTIONALITY.

Bernie focuses on poverty as the primary force behind racism. I think that's the correct approach. If blacks were economic equals with other races, there'd be a lot less for racists to focus on.

But that doesn't sound exciting and race focused enough. So Bernie's racist or something.
