But... where do you think I argued that humans don't like stories about heroes? I really think you haven't understood what I wrote or are trying to slot it into someone else's argument.
What I am saying is that you are pointing something obvious. At least that is what I got out of it. Like, you are complaining about something that has been going on since forever.

You're very confused. Please tell me what I'm complaining about. And I don't think the trope I talked about, which is a less common one but I see from time to time, is an obvious one. You said I'm arguing that humans don't like stories about heroes. Where on Earth have I done that?

No, I said you sounded like you complained about humans LIKING stories about heroes. That is what it reads like to me.

Then I repeat, you're confused. You plainly haven't understood what I wrote. In fact, how the Hell you got that from my post, I have no idea.

I saw some frustration in the text. Perhaps I might have been mistaken. If you say that there was not, then fine. Just saying, it kind of read like you were somewhat exasperated. Maybe that is the better word. Still, if I am wrong then so be it.

You're very wrong. My original post wasn't complaining or exasperated at all. I was writing about an interesting trope. And, honestly, I don't feel it is that well known or analysed a trope. Anyway, this is just derailing the Marvel thread. Not that Marvel are doing anything interesting.

Which is good since it means there might be some course correction. Still, most fans are burned out. I personally cannot be bothered to be dragged into another Marvel movie. There really has been a JoshWeadonification of cinema.

Complete tangent but it's hilarious how often stories intended to vilify supremacism implicitly acknowledge the supremacy of the supremacist by making them superpowerful. If the writers were actually colorblind and egalitarian they'd construct a story that shows that the "supreme being" is wrong about his supremacy by having the people he seeks to subjugate prevail against him on their own. Instead you get stories like Invincible and the X-Men and Superman and Dragon Ballz where the supposed lesser races are proven to be lesser and need to be saved by rogue members of the supreme race that defect against their supremacist bretheren, which just means the message isn't "supremacism is wrong" but rather "yeah we're objectively superior BUT that means we have a moral duty to help the people we're objectively superior to" which is just The White Man's Burden again.

Time is a flat circle.
Funily enough, Invincible actually ends with Mark as the emperor and the Viltrumite Empire still existing with Robot being left in charge of earth as a brain along with a crazy immortal guy, but it's okay because Mark's a Nice king.

Didn't realize Wonder Man was fully released today. It's only eight episodes long, about four hours overall. You're not missing anything if you skip it, but the lead and Ben Kingsley work very well together. Overall, decent if non-essential.

Can I get a capsule explanation of what it's about? I watched the trailer and it seemed to be something about an actor trying to get a role as a superhero within the MCU universe. So actor playing superhero in world with actual superheroes. Is that correct? I have no real interest in it beyond thinking Ben Kinglsey is good, but my OCD likes to close off unknowns.

Do they not know he's a fucking supervillain?
Still not as funny as the "Black Panther says Fuck ICE" posts I would see.

Yes, the man who's country has a literal magic barrier to keep foreigners out would oppose throwing the foreigners out. The need to compare everything to pop culture was a mistake.
No no no, see he would've loved foreigners coming into his country to steal vibranium

He'd actually be the most tolerant of it, but he was never anything close to "open borders". The whole point of his first movie was to get him to give vibranium tech to the dirt-poor zimbabwe citizens who regressed to trading goats as currency African Americans who really needed that new basketball court. Meanwhile his entire country, including his own mother, completely opposed this move and so they damned his memory by reversing this move

Not sure if this is a spoiler per se, but the lead is an actual superhero who happens to be an actor. It's a big thing about what it means to be an actor and essentially wraps up Slattery's role in the MCU (at least for now).

akshually it's sorta right
DOOM wouldn't tolerate any other nation's forces in Latveria, not ICE, not KGB, not the League Of Women Voters

I don't know if it's a spoiler or not in the context of the show but I appreciate you taking care. To me, I just wanted to know and am highly unlikely to watch it. I'm doubtful I'll ever watch any MCU past this point though I've not set a rule against it. The last thing I even looked at was the F4 movie and that was only out of morbid curiosity. Early 2000s F4 would kick the First Steps F4 butts.

The point is that Doom would entirely support the principle of border controls and no illegal immigration and so the cartoon is stupid. It's not suggesting that ICE agents are in his country.
