I don't think all of the fox xmen are dying. We're gonna see them back in Secret Wars.

Until they're 90... (except the Patrick and McKellen)
I'm still worried it's gonna be a 2.5 hour long montage of Kang with RDJ's face deepfaked on hopping through the multiverse killing every variation of every beloved character fans have expressed interest in and also Donald Trump and Derek Chauvin and then The One Above All played by Kevin Fiege comes out of a portal and says "They're all dead now stop asking" and then Captain Falcon says "Maybe the real Avengers were the friends we made along the way" and Bucky says "I don't like girls" and everyone claps.

and there has been no reports of Tobey Maguire reprising his role as Spider-Man. However, considering that no one can figure out if Ryan Reynolds is appearing as Deadpool it could mean they are going this route and are just keeping a lid on a few of the names.
technically if its archival footage they don't have to appear, and for Ryan Reynolds, he doesn't have to be the fucker in the costume. they can just voice lines and they add them in post. with the budget of this film its practically impossible to not cheap out somewhere.

Rumor has it they finally pulled the plug on the long suffering Blade movie. Supposedly he's meant to still pop back up in a possible Midnight Sons film but I don't see that working with the MCU's current trajectory.
Honestly the new Blade movie has just felt cursed the entire time it’s been in development - Snipes coming back for Deadpool and Wolverine was probably the biggest nail in its coffin. There really is only ever going to be one Blade, huh.

As for a potential Midnight Sons movie, this is the problem with shoving everything into the MCU - the fuck would you put them? They’re not exactly a prominent group when not dealing with something in their very specific wheelhouse, and depending on the chosen roster that’s running into the problem the Eternals had of trying to make you give a shit about too many new characters in a single movie, in a franchise that already has far too many characters to give a shit about.

Unironically, their best bet with that would be a stand alone animated movie.

It's a movie about a guy with a sword killing vampires. How the hell is that so hard to bring to the big screen?

For fuck's sake, we got a Morbius movie before we got a fourth Blade movie.

There's a bunch of problems with Blade that prevent it from being made.

First you have to have a likeable nigger who's not a faggot. Those pretty much don't exist any more (or they're way too old). Seriously. Anthony Mackie was somewhat close, but he's not really likeable, and he's way too much of a faggot. He's the closest they've got and he's already taken. Also he kind of sucks as an actor. The guy from Star Wars (the new shit, not Lando)? Somewhat likeable, but too faggoty. I think the guy from Tenet could've just gotten away with it, as he wasn't too irritating in that, but I think he's like 80 now. I can't really think of any other ones that even come close - I mean everyone in Sinners and other crap are way too anti-charismatic or gay.

You can't subvert the hero (or they waited too long to do it). This is what they wanted to do, to cuck the character and focus on whatever adjacent female there was (his daughter, some other daywalker, whatever). The fact that this got slapped down makes none of the current writers/producers motivated to have anything to do with the story.

You can't subvert the bad guys, and make them misunderstood ackshually the good guys. Blade kills vampires and, as discussed above, they waited too long to cuck the character so it's not an option any more. So the villains have to be actually villains, and actually evil so that Blade can kill them. Again, this makes the story anathema to current film makers. Now there is an option to make them white nationalist vampires, and if it ever does get made, I suspect this is the way it will go, but since Blacktain America that well seems uninviting and dry. Although it would be funny as fuck to see all the memes that come from that.

I think they were averse to the violence and killing that were inherent to the character/world as well. Not in and of itself, just in that they might not want to tie that into the larger MCU. However, after Deadpool is blended in, I don't think that's an issue any more, but I do think it played a part in slowing the project down to where it is now (dead).

Boyega? He also clowned on Disney for Episode 9 being... well, Episode 9, with my personal favorite moment being him telling reporters who asked for his opinion of the movie to wait until his Disney cheque cleared. He'd probably still do it just for Lead Actor money, but the Rat is fucking petty.

And local.

Meh. The main trailer better be 3+ minutes. Too much in it already. Gonna infinity war it. :(

Demonstrating how tired the MCU is with more airtime will not sell tickets. Endgame's marketing was cryptic to drum up suspense, and that would have been a much better approach here. It would be wiser to tease the stakes and a few key players while revealing as little footage from the film as possible. As is, this preview feels far too safe in a genre that needs to take risks to stay alive.

I really hope that story of him being a fan was bullshit. It's bad enough being nerd looking at how his character could have been something interesting instead of that, but think about how it would be if you gave a shit about Star Wars and that ended up what you got when you were pitched the meaty idea of a former stormtrooper

You're like the fifth person I've seen asking that and the answer is that the writers don't want it to be a movie about a guy killing vampires with a sword.

The plot of the first ome is Blade needs to defeat a guy who wants to become a super vampire.. so he does it with karate and swords. The writers understood the assignment. you need a story, obviously, but people just want to see Blade/Snipes kicking ass.

Current Marvel writers and writers in general don't think that's enough. You should watch Blade and get ready for a lecture about black people, slavery, white supremacy, feminism. Blade kicking ass is just an after thought, unless it's Blade's daughter doing the asskicking, in which case is an statement about female empowerment.

That has to be the reason why many good projects keep getting delayed. Alas, perhaps Gambit movie kept getting delayed because of that. They got a script that was basically his origins, when he met Sinister and needed to avenge his father and was in a quest to outsmart the Assassins, and Marvel people kept asking "but what is actually about?"

M. Ali was really not a bad option for Blade, all things considered. He could make it with some makeup and a good suit. He still looks like a fag, but the less fag of all of the previously mentioned fags.

Boyega has too much of a goofy face to be the Daywalker, a guy who's totally stoic and serious. Same for Ray Fisher, who has too much of a youthful face for Blade (but he was fine as Cyborg for that reason).

It runs deeper than that. It's not that the writers think a simple superhero story isn't enough, it's that the people who now control these intellectual properties and the people they choose to employ do not hold the values that superhero stories embody in the first place. They are trying to "fix" the superhero genre because they reject it fundamentally. They are trying to redefine what it means to be a good person so that they themselves fall within that definition. Which necessarily leads to convoluted bloated nonsense because it necessarily reflects their own postmodern mental gymnastics and rejection of absolutes like "good" and "evil" and "truth".

Right. Blade shouldn't just kill vampires. The vampires need to be racists and he should in fact join the ones who are not racist.

Michael B. Jordan would be a good Blade. I don't care if he was already in Black Panther or Fantastic Four.

When did he claim to be a fan? I thought his general response to Star Wars was, "that's white people shit."
