I meant to reply to you about this earlier but forgot. But yeah I had the same experience as you in the theater. I didn't think the movie looked particularly good, but at least standard for these movies and then the final act it just totally fell apart visually and I thought it was weird. It didn't go all the way from great to terrible but it went from standard to flat out bad.

It was the same one. Spider-Man Reign. It's a shitty dark knight returns rip off with (at least I like it) cool art. There is a sequel that came out this past year, might still be running and I read the first issue or two and even the art couldn't save it this time. The story was worse and the art was awful even though it was the same guy.

A lot of people really shit on it over the radioactive cum cancer thing but tbh I always kinda liked the idea. It was the one idea in it I thought was kind of neat if the story had to have MJ dead. I liked it better than just a Gwen retread and some bad guy killed her. It makes it implicitly Spider-Man's fault alone she's gone but also not really at fault or guilty of something, they were both at fault. How the fuck would he know? And they were happily married for years, why would they use protection? They probably tried for a kid at some point. It's just an ultimate extreme case of the old Parker luck. The comic still sucks anyways though it's grim dark retard shit where Peter's basically insane.

Captain America as a whole just feels like American liberal or Euros writing a polemic to Americans on what they feel an ideal American should be. US Agent at least has the internal conflict of some meathead being very pro-US while doing morally dubious shit, but he’s effectively their to be beat up by Captain America.

Mutants in Marvel have the issue of being made into a LGBTQP+ and black people stand in rather than generic “I’m different in a way I can’t control” where you could probably have it be a curable disability for some of them and for other a part of their identity.

an article just recently said Warner Bros has gone all in on Superman as well, basically saying if it fails they're go bankrupt, so that and the MCU's own failings means there's a very high chance the MCU is fucked.

they surely cant not understand the whole black people denied loans thing so much that they just boiled it down to banks literally just dont give loans to people purely on skin tone?
 
You'd think if someone was in every record as having helped defeat an alien Tyrant and his Army, AND helped bring back half the population of the planet from death, the government alone would have them on a stipend for life such that they don't need anything.

Hypothetical: If the first astronauts to make it to the moon wanted a loan, would a bank give them any trouble? Even if they somehow didn't qualify and somehow needed money, wouldn't they come up with a mutually beneficial advertising/endorsement situation to make it possible?

You'd think a competent writer would've revised the scenes at the bank with Sam to have a loan officer explain that he doesn't understand how an Avenger could need money, but they'll do anything in their branches' power to ensure he gets whatever he need as soon as fucking possible yesterday. Maybe work out some deal that benefits both of them?

"I'm terribly sorry to hear that need money, but I'm going to contact my bosses so we can ensure you're taken care of; you helped save our families. Have you ever done a commercial before? Good lord man, do you know how good we'd look if you gave us your endorsement? What number were you thinking of? Let's talk this out."
 
iirc, the scene actually goes something like:
Sam: I want a loan.
Banker: no
Sam: It's because I'm black! Racism!
Banker: no it's because half of the world's population just returned and we're stretched to our limit

But, yeah, I always thought Sam needing a loan like that was stupid. Surely Stark had something set up to help out the Avengers and its allies.

I already tardraged about this once but the short version is that the beauty of mutants as an underclass is that they aren't real so you can use them as a stand-in for whatever you want and that's why it's gay and retarded to make them literally gay and retarded.

Fucking Ant-Man managed to write a book and turn his short, relatively unimpressive tenure as a hero into a sustainable source of income. Sam Wilson is a veteran, an Avenger, spent a lot of time around Iron Man and Captain America and was much more involved in a much more hero shenanigans. His book would be ten times as popular, he could name his price for speeches at military academies and such, his lifetime story rights would be worth millions alone, not to even mention potential product endorsements ("Nike's new Air Jumpers are the next best thing to my Falcon Wings!"). All of this made even more valuable by the fact that the other more famous Avengers are either dead or completely uninterested in that kind of commercialization. Thats on top of his normal salary/pension and payouts, which wouldn't be something to sneeze at. Not to mention that even though Tony Stark is dead, I'm sure Pepper Potts would be more than happy to help her husband's comrade-in-arms if he was in dire straits.

The fact that Sam Wilson is such a dumb, desperate loser that he has to go to a bank to beg for a loan is an indictment of him, not of the bank. Seriously, how fucking stupid is Sam supposed to be? I guess very retarded, because he also turns down super-soldier serum and refuses to share his multiple vibranium armor suits. How is anyone supposed to admire this retarded nigger?

Not the DC thread, but if true Zaslov is significantly dumber than I thought, basic rule of investing aside. From what I've seen, they've learned nothing from why the DC movies failed under Snyder.
 
Everyone's forgetting the Community Reinvestment Act which made it functionally guaranteed federal lawsuits for the bank if it turned down a black asking for a loan.

I've worked on the sidelines of lending enough that the idea of "yeah, you did save the universe from ten space hitlers, but we REALLY need that two years of tax filings if you want that mortgage" was funny to me
I didn't watch the show but a cape having bullshit from a loan makes me chuckle
