I don't think it will be particularly good but I'm sure I will enjoy it, if they HAVE to bring Jackman back at least it's in a Deadpool movie before shooting him out with Tobey's Spider-Man as their big money shot to convince people my age we actually have to pay and go see Secret Wars. I've been sick of comic book Deadpool for over a decade, and I'm pretty much there with Ryan Reynolds too, but although the first one is better, I liked Deadpool 2 more (thought it was a bit funnier/Cable's my favorite X-Men they didn't turn him into a nigger I'm a simple man to please) and this one by virtue of Hugh's Wolverine in the suit alone will probably be my favorite of the 3. however, I'm not going to be retarded enough to think this is going to save the MCU even if it's a masterpiece and not the goofy but fun movie I'm expecting, it's too late to course correct this ship. it will be nice to see one of these and it have something actually for me as a fan for the first time in what seems like forever again though.

Honestly, it was the pegging joke that gave me some hope for this. As odd as that sounds.

I don't really remember any of Dawson's other roles to judge, but from the clips I've seen of Ahsoka, it doesn't really look like any of the actors fault for the most part. It seems more evident that every actor was given the direction of 'Just act cool and mysterious', resulting in a lot of stiff idle poses, blank 'stoic' stares, dramatic pauses and an absolute refusal to react or be phased by anything.

I think that's a reasonable thing, because personally I was worried no matter what they had said they still had the chance to bait and switch us with a PG-13. not that the pegging joke necessitates the R, but it shows at least it's going to be gross & they aren't being stopped from Disney jokes (even if this ends up being the only one). what worried me most about the movie is that because this is THE BIG connecting tissue movie atm multiverse wise (and that it's all we are getting this year) was specifically they were going to make it PG-13 and be self deprecating on the fox characters but not the mickey mouse conglomerate. that retarded line was enough to put me at ease that even if it sucks it wasn't compromised in the ways I thought would ruin the movie

Don't know how to feel about this. Bringing in the MCU made me cringe and Ryan's output has been pretty bad. Deadpool 2 was worse than 1 and Free Guy was just awful, not to mention Pikachu. He keeps playing the same snarky character that, besides Pikachu, seems to get more pozzed and "safe edgy" as he goes.

Ahsoka isn't her fault (although if she wanted to do her own fight choreography, I would 100% call it her fault). I judge her by roles like Rent, Clerks 2, Sin City. Frankly, it took looking up her filmography to even remember she was in Dopesick. She's just the low-rent version of Zoe Saldana, really, probably because she might very well have been Gamora (or in any Marvel film) if she were a better actress, but everything in her filmography suggests she'd rather play to the nerd crowd because she doesn't have the charisma or talent to take on bigger, more serious roles.

I'm not disagreeing with you @ all but he's been doing exactly this since Blade 3 20 years ago. He just plays Van Wilder or himself and tones himself down slightly every single movie

Also, conveying stoic anger is as much in the editing and framing as it is in the actor. Westerns knew how to capture that subtle shift in anger because men of that time were capable of doing that themselves. Your average person in the West no longer knows Laconic wit, so they can't do that minimalistic kind of acting. It's also harder for a woman to convey stoic anger because they have even less of a frame of reference than the soyboy.

He's sort of like Adam Sandler. He's not the worst when he can get some decent emotions into his roles.
I remember some of the press for the first Deadpool movie about how Deadpool was a typical white male or some shit, never mind the fact that, someone in the writers' room was smart enough to make it a love story, and it gave the movie genuine heart.
The only problem is, you can't do that trick all the time, or at least do it well, since it eventually starts looking insincere.
Personally, I'm getting sick of any character that is smarmy and thinks "sarcasm" is a persuasive conversational technique, like we're all 15 years old or some shit.
That, and I'm getting tired of Ryan Reynolds acting like "one of us". Dude is probably a killer businessman. Owned a cell service. Owns a soccer team. Heard he wanted to buy a hockey team. Probably worth a billion dollars. Great. Earn that paycheck, but stop acting like you'd have a beer with your fans.

you hit the nail on the head. in my prior post where I said I was sick of comic book deadpool and getting there with Reynolds this is what it is. nothing to do with him as a real dude because obviously I don't know the man, but he plays 'himself' in everything aka an overly sarcastic slightly smarter then the 25IQ b-role characters written into the movie for him to 'own' with a one liner. I think he's a genuinely funny actor in certain roles, but adam sandler is a good comparison because there are some movies where the shtick works (happy gilmore, little nicky) and 20 more where even though he is genuinely exactly the same I'm mentally yelling shut the fuck up at the tv whenever he is there. and Reynolds is the same way. I think he is funny in Van Wilder, Deadpool, Waiting, etc, but every new role it's exactly what I expect but toned down, and if it still is R rated it's not quite as funny because beyond the fact it's a riff on what I have seen him do for 20 years, it's just overstaying your welcome. if he came out the gate and floored me with a random serious performance he could probably revert and do this shit another decade and I'd be like well I have seen his range but at this point it's not there. his range is G-rated poop joke, or R-rated cunt joke. they're interchangeable.

Its still hilarious to me that Ryan Reynolds was trying to be deadpool since literally 2003. could you imagine a mid-2000s era deadpool? I'm just imagining Hangover level debauchery we'd be guaranteed someone getting called a faggot and gratuitous nudity. If someone didn't "leak" that trailer Ryan Reynolds would still be doing shitty rom coms and being the snarky guy on some direct to netflix film no one watches, literally competiting with Zachary levi or the workaholics guy for roles. On the flipside if he made that film in 2005 it would be just like the hangover where the trilogy just vanishes from people's minds despite being huge for their time.

shes in a lot more mature roles, a lot of her movies have sex scenes in them and she's already done nude scenes in multiple different movies, this is probably her first "pg-13" live action role since men in black 2. she's also a quite past her prime actress so for her to get the role is sort of odd. You'd think they'd have given the role to someone either younger or higher up. usually if she's in a "high budget" movie she has a fringe role.

Ryan reynolds took points on deadpool to keep the budget low so when it became the highest grossing r rated film of all time it made him an insane amount of money, literally like what happened to mel gibson. And once you're a successful leading man people can't stop throwing money at you. its very easy to just grow and grow your money. Its a big reason you don't hear of many leading a-list star level men desperate for money. You have to be johnny depp tier unlucky and even then the residuals easily give him millions a year the rest of his life. Ryan's especially lucky because there really hasn't been that many movie stars of his level anymore. Its mostly the IP people care about and not the star themselves as Chris Harmsworth has found out. Ryan can invest in so many things because if it fails he just has to work on a movie to make back that money and he has a huge amount of fame so he can take literally any stupid small company and through his star power make it big enough that it does do well. The same way companies that appear on shark tank at minimum triple their revenue even if the sharks don't give them a deal.

The weird thing about Reynolds is that he didn’t really become an icon for Zoomers, it is more like Gen Xers that really took to him post-Deadpool as he became “so their generation.” It is either that or the average Reddit/Tumblr types. I think this is what killed him for me. His best role of the 3 I mentioned was Pikachu, where I honestly didn’t mind his voice acting. The thing that gets me about Deadpool and Free Guy is all the pandering to those audiences, something he couldn’t get away with in Pikachu.
Deadpool 2 had an extended joke about racism and calling Colossus a racist that just went on. Free Guy had some cringe speeches where Reynolds gets on his soap box to talk about how woman aren’t trophies. On top of that is the cringe Gen X references like the entire ending of Free Guy where he pulls out le lightsaber because STAR WARS!!
Deadpool 1 was fun because he was still an unknown, relatively speaking, and it was before most current year think. I wouldn’t say the movie was super edgy, but it at least was just a good romp that I feel all ages can latch onto if you like Adult Swim tier humor. The whole Tumblr ally/Gen X mascot killed him and makes his whole act of I’m a 40 year old acting like I am 15 get progressively sadder.

it is Gen X. what is weird about Reynolds & Deadpool is the main audience is people my mom's age (mid 40's) there is some crossover with my sister's age (22ish) but deadpool hit because it's just raunchy enough a 18 year old in the modern era where they don't make comedies anymore will think it's amazing, and just safe enough in the jokes my mom will find it funny because it's a hot guy being gross but never enough to piss off the middle class 'vote blue no matter who' liberal women. my pop is a little bit older and it's a little too faggy for him. he mainly liked the first two for X-Men & superhero related jokes. I really wish I could see the 2006/2007 version when Ryan wanted to do the first one because whereas the first one is kinda funny I probably would have thought that was fucking hilarious back when you could say do whatever you wanted and they still made comedies because people weren't scared to laugh at a fuckin' joke in a movie out of fear of cancelation

DxW seems fun, will probably make the effort to seen it on the big screen. Hopefully it's more substantial story-wise than Multiverse of Madness was.
