I just kinda assumed they made Kang black so they could have a Blacktastic 4 (Kang is some sort of Rirchards descendant). That's assuming they know the lore, which hah! (Yeah I know they had what's his face in the Scarlett Witch movie, but that felt more like a cameo than a stealth introduction.)

I don't get the Marvel Studios fixation on Majors, or Jordan back on Black Panther 1. Serviceable at best, is how I would describe their performances. I realize it's not about the job they do, it's about "the message". For that matter, Marvel directors haven't exactly gotten great performances out of talented actors of any race.

It's all so tiring and disappointing. Like watching a star athlete throw his career away to drugs. Or watching a commentator throw his life away to coom. At this point, in my head, the Marvel movies ended with Infinity War.

Wakanda is meant to be a small hidden state in Africa, yet they take a pan-African approach to culture. Just mash together a whole bunch of different stuff. Which in doing so is ignorant, disrespectful and racist against all the different cultures across the vast continent. Of course the film makes don't give a shit about actual Africans.

Then to try and create the African look to the society, amongst the flying cars and modern looking buildings. They make it African by replicated the looks of basic, poor Africa. Street vendors. Mud bricks. Hand weaved baskets and other aspects of a poverty stricken, less advanced society as directly being African culture. Like they went to some poor town in Africa, shot some b-roll and then used VFX to add modern skyscrapers in the background.
This has driven me nuts since even before Black Panther. American Blacks seems to just like vague 'African' shit even though there's hundreds of tribes and traditions. I figured with Black Panther they'd try but it's just a bunch of cultures glued together that make no sense being around each other or even existing in a high tech futuristic society at all.

Similar thing happened when our lord and savior Saint Floyd died for our sins and the dems put on Ghana cermonial robes and knelt in congress. I remember watching and going, "wtf does this drug addict from Minnesota have to do with Ghana?"

The people that constantly bitch about "culture vultures" just pick and choose random cultural things and walk around wearing them looking like complete imbeciles.

How would they do that? Kang's most defining feature is he exists simultaneously in every dimension and works/conspires with alternate versions of himself like Rick Sanchez.
Doom's fucked around with time travel before. If they want to be lazy with it, they could just do a end-credits scene of a battle damaged Doom standing in the rubble of the Council of Kangz, implying that he killed them all off.

bonus points if they cast a white guy for Doom, since it'd then be a scene of a white guy standing on the corpses of ton of black guys

Exactly this. Take the lip plates, for example. Aside from the fact that lip plates are still a thing in an “advanced” part of Africa, that was a practice done in Africa by women to show their fertility and marriage potential. So why do we see men wearing lip plates here?

Or nudity. I know this is supposed to be an accessible superhero film, but the fact that this African society that’s supposedly cut off from the rest of the world is covering their more private areas up like other cultures is a Western influence, since nudity has an actually purpose in African cultures. And let’s not forget the Asian martial arts in the film that’s being passed off as African.

It really is a hodgepodge of African things put in one area without understanding the significance of these things. Throw in a bunch of fantastical technology, and you have a society that many blacks actually believe is a feasible society in future Africa.

I am of the opinion that not having full access to the Spider-Man IP is now completely fucking Disney over. There's a fairly easy storyline you could've done after Endgame to ease into X-shit (and maybe the FF, not sure how to do it now) and that would've been to adapt Dark Reign. In theory you could've had any villain leading the group, but having Norman Osborn, Spidey's arch nemesis, would've been perfect to prop the MCU up during this slop period where they don't have their earlier heavy hitters (RDJ's Tony being the main one) anymore. Change to comic storyline enough so it'd fit the MCU's world, have Spidey be a bigger thing in the fight against the Dark Avengers - which was an actual weak point in the comics; Peter had so little to do with Norman's arc, though iirc OMD happened during that timeframe so he was having issues - and you can ease into the X-Men by either having Daken or a slightly more recognizable X-Villain on his team, thus leading to the good X-Guys revealing themselves.

No one has ever given a flying fuck about Kang. People give a shit about Spidey villains. More Spidey villains = more Spidey, someone who sells despite the MCU/Snoy.

I don't even think Disney would've done a good job of it (Snoy certainly isn't; I love Raimi-Man but everything after that has been terrible and will only get worse), so I'm not even on the side of them acquiring more IPs, but from their POV, it's a major loss.

John Boyega has actual charisma though.
Enjoyed his performance in Attack The Block.

Regarding the Majors stuff honestly I am happy (not that he hit the poor woman but that he actually is experiencing consequences for it). I want Disney to take every single loss they can and their "no, we'll wait for the courts to decide" was blatant desperation that every other actor they ever employ in the future should refer to for every scandal they go through. If Disney do anything but stand by them during that then the lawyers should be out in force.

Especially after Disney left Johnny Depp out to hang... Maybe that's why they didn't dump Majors earlier.

I doubt it, unless Johnny got some manner of financial settlement or is currently quietly going through the process of getting that Disney suffered no financial hardship from losing him.

Well except for finishing off destroying a profitable property but they had already started that with the Pirates stuff.

So here's my one thought - with how they seemed to be all in on Kang/Majors, how much is this going to fuck with the MCU's release schedule while they try to pivot to... probably Doom, just off of recognizable names the MCU has access to, while they try to scrub out Kang/Majors? And if they DO pivot to Doom, well the group most associated with him is the Fantastic fucking Four - a group that doesn't exactly have a good cinematic track record, especially if they're going o be used as a tentpole for the next phase.

Also obligatory Forbes article saying Disney should move on from Kang. Rare as it is to agree with a journo, the role is pretty radioactive right now. I just think that, with how all in they went, the odds of a the rat being able to quickly pivot feel low.

The TVA will deal with the variants, no reason that Doom can't come in and start planning stuff.

Boyega even said himself he didn't want to be Disney+'d. I'm pretty sure he's not going to be cast. Maybe Damon Idris. Or Aldis Hodge. Or John David Washington. No idea.

Marvel are kinda fucked, because they've already used all the big, bankable Hollywood black guys. They already used Idris Elba, Michael B. Jordan was Killmonger, Mershahala Ali is going to be Blade...
Disney could hire the guy who plays Black Manta in the Aquaman films since I don't think James Gunn has plans for Aquaman and the characters associated with him for the DC reboot.

Oh boy am I going to enjoy the drama and lulz coming our way after this. Hopefully if Marvel recasts Kang it's anyone but John Boyega.
It would be pretty funny if Majors ends up getting Cheadled. (Just replace with a different blacktor between movies and make no mention of it.)

Watch as they make Doctor Doom black.
tbh putting a black guy in since DOOM is mostly the suit, mask, and voice might not be a bad call if you can get some serious bass like James Earl Jones
obviously JEJ is a little old but something like that

Marvel already gave him the role of Wonder Man for one of their shitty Disney+ shows that no one will watch.

...yEs.

I mean, in an ideal world, Doom would be David Warner, but that's not going to happen.

But if he has to be black, Keith David, maybe?
