I haven't watched any MCU since WandaVision. That had a great concept that was sadly mid in its execution when all the "MCU-" tropes kicked in (Had to have a big CGI fight at the end, had to have all this shit to set up other shit for other future shit, had to have strong women be strong women even if the main one is basically a monster). When I saw that, I knew it the MCU was basically over and decided to walk away.

Since then, they have pumped out tons of movies and shows, and nothing has caught my interest. I feel like I've missed nothing.
Last thing I watched was also WandaVision, but I also didn't see Ant Man 2 and Captain Marvel even thought I did see Endgame. I think most people that dropped it didn't do so out of rage. It's just that people didn't have a reason to keep watching. Apathy is what's been killing the franchise more than hate. Pretty impressive how quickly Marvel went from being king of the hill to having one movie not bomb in the entire year being considered a success.

I have seen people try to bring back some BS activism with The Marvels stating how "WOMEN SHOULD GO SEE THIS MOVIE OR NO MORE HECKIN' WOMEN DIRECTED FILMS" when The Marvels is pretty much guaranteed to bomb or not do well. Hell the fact the director pretty much said that it's a "Kevin Feige" movie more than her own idea really raises red flags.

Loki is unwatchably bad. I hesitantly watched season 1 because tom's acting carried it on his back, I hated everything that had to do with the TVA and I was hesitant on watching season 2 at all, the first two episodes were bad, confused inconsequential messes where nothing really happens, but episode 3 is straight up unwatchable mishmashed nonsense garbage.

Its a pitty that hiddleston was purely used as a vehicle to get people to watch the TVA show because if it wasn't for loki I would have given zero fucks. The show is called loki but it has nothing to do with or about loki. You can literally remove loki from it and nothing changes.

The TVA is literally everything wrong with marvel in so many ways, from nonsense power scaling, riddled with plotholes, invalidating what came before, using multiverse and time travel as a crutch, downgrading and upgrading characters as nessesary for the plot, replacing the main character with a strong independant woman who don't need no man, failure to make a cohesive throughline to tie everything toogether, it just goes on and on and on and on, making a lot of noise, but saying absolutely fucking nothing.

The fact that the show is even called loki is genuinely false advertising becuase loki isn't the main character and you'd be hard pressed to justify calling him a deuteragonist. He just exists in the background as other more important (yet also significantly more boring and worse writen) characters do shit while he follows and spouts oneliners once in a while .

Also Jonathan Major's can't act for shit. The black inventor character got on my nerves real fast.

Ngl I'm still really disappointed that Dune part 2 got delayed because it means now that the Marvels was put in IMAX screens which means that the Marvels is going to get somewhat more revenue (some theaters for example have only one IMAX screen, eg the BFI IMAX in Waterloo). Dune P2 being out at the same would have fucking buried that movie (contracts at that time stated that Dune would have the screens). Sure, not all screens can show Dune part 2 in dual laser (for that sweet 1.43:1 aspect ratio) but even still. That's a bunch more screens and now Marvel can get maybe a few more people in seats coz IMAX.

Nah, what am I saying. It's still gonna flop. Marvel films typically do well in the first week with a massive height but this film's revenue gonna be as flat as Brie Larson's ass.

Dare I ask about McDonald's since that played such a big part in marketing

There was 2/3 scenes where a character was buying stuff at a McDonalds, then working there, then another character comes in and talks to the first character and they leave together. Maybe 15 minutes total?
For any movie maybe 15 minutes of product placement is a huge amount

t Hemsworth because he could have been Jason Statham, Bruce Willis levels
you really think either of those two had a better 2010s than Chris? plus he's had those roles outside of the MCU, and those films almost always flop hard. say what you will about the MCU, especially for phase one they really emphasized hiring character actors and being the paycheck films they can do while they make their passion projects. do you know how many shitty romcoms Evans, Scarjo, or Ruffalo would have had to make if it weren't for the MCU? instead they can go from hit films to oscar nominated ones. Ruffalo's entire filmography is insane its just the MCU and oscar bait.
What did happen to him? He was pretty big and just vanished from any major role? Did he come out as conservative or fucked the wrong person?
i was wondering the same thing, but honestly he was just a somewhat good minority hire, back in the 1980s-2000s he was pretty much the only black guy hollywood thought white people could tolerate. he was the dramatic will smith. the difference is will smith's films usually made money. Denzel's films rarely did, i'm sure they made tons in movie rentals in black areas but he was never an A-lister when it came down to raw numbers. Denzel is in a lot of crap, he just has been around long enough that he now gets to chose the dogshit he's cast in. I'm sure he has every shitty streaming show or franchise begging for him. but he does what he wants and would have way more ability to say no than the MCU enjoys their actors having.

At least with hiring an "unknown" you might get someone on a massive upswing, RDJ was playing 2nd fiddle to Tim Allen in films before Iron Man came out. Getting these actors that are bubbling under mainstream acceptance and signing them for 9 films (not including cameos) works wonders because you push them into the mainstream and in return their fame leads to new fans of them from their other work coming back around to watching his shitty MCU films. Thats pretty much the best explanation for why GOTG 3 made more money than any MCU film in the past half decade that didn't include spiderman. Pratt, Gunn, and Batista were all C-listers at best when the first film was announced, but by the time of the 3rd one were all A-list to the point that even people that weren't really fans of the MCU but were fans of those guys were willing to show up for the film.

People don't realize but if it weren't for Majors' beating the shit out of a woman and maybe the strike he'd be having a year on par with RDJ in 2008 or Chris pratt in 2014, or Jude law 2004 or Jennifer Lawrence 2012 Just appearing in fucking everything and being the best part of it. Or at least thats what hollywood PR would have said. By all accounts hollywood decided this nigga was the new big name and he got all the roles even before the MCU came knocking. By all accounts he'd be the biggest name in hollywood by the time this "arc" finishes. unfortunately that didn't work out. but that was the original plan. i know its a long time ago but creed 3 was well liked and antman 3 was supposed ot be way bigger. then there's his oscar bait film which he'd be guaranteed a nom for.

On the plus side the duel strikes and hollywood not making shit for the last 6 months means the MCU will basically have a minireboot with all the dogshit it will be canceling in the future. if you remember the end credits scenes from any of the films, no way in hell will any of those be paying off. Namor might be a huge name in the comics but we won't be seeing that guy ever again. the only other film the MCU has that even is in filming right now is Deadpool 3, which doesn't count. so the only product they have after the marvels is captain america 4 with the black guy, so you can tell it won't be good. the only whites guys in the film are the villians and an israeli superhero is going to be a big part of the film. The MCU getting slapped with "superhero fatigue" isn't going to stop anytime soon. If anything so many flops and more on the horizon means the MCU is going the way of star wars and becoming a Disney+ exclusive.

You know they're 100% going to make the strong negro woman into the Kang right? That's going to the 'twist' that they go with. Probably as a way of sideling Majors now that he turned out to have thot patrolled.

Also they literally have a desk drawer filled with infinity stones, there should be absolutely no threat in this show since they can just give Loki as many Infinity Gauntlets as they want to. The TVA has dropped an atomic bomb on any sort of story you want to tell with them because they are - by their nature - sitting on a warehouse of 'Fuck you I win' buttons, that you have to conveniently forget to use to make the plot work.

"Oh no, Kang has run away!"
'Mobius, I have the space, mind, and reality stones, gimme a second.'

It may not have Dune 2 to contend with anymore, but I doubt that will save it, as it has Thanksgiving a few days after (Eli Roth slasher that is highly anticipated by his fans etc as been a long time coming, not to mention horror generally does well in cinemas), and the end of the month has the Napoleon movie coming out, so Marvels will 100% be forgotten about by then.

It genuinely seems like they're making shit up 5 minutes before airtime. They're halfway into the season and there is no villain, there is no overarching goal other than "fix the loom that we introduced in season 2", nobody has any real motivation to do anything, they're just drunkenly stumbling around like headless chickens.

Episodes 1 was entirely solved by mashing mcguffins against one another. Loki is timeskipping for some reaosn, to fix it we must activate the time vacuum while being he is being pruned as the temporal loom activates to pull his chrotons through the vortex and blah blah blah blah. Who the fuck wrote this?

Most importantly the entirety of season 1 was spent showing us how the TVA is evil and just commits genocide for no reason, and now we're trying to save it??? Why not just let it burn?

"Because kang might return." Ok, so what you're gonna start genociding again? Because that's (somehow) the only thing that has been established to stop kang, and you're against so again, why does loki not just let it burn and gtfo?

The entirety of the series makes absolutely no sense in the worst way. This show is genuinely more hole than plot.

Also, my favourite scene in season 2, the fat black independant woman who don't need no man in security guard cosplay with short hair is looking at a computer screen showing lines vanishing, (i.e. timelines being pruned) and she says "Oh my god, those are people!" because the writers literally needed to remind us that those are people because they've never actually shown it on screen once.

Their representation of septilions of people being genocided all at once is to have a sheboon look at a computer screen and tell the audience.

The idea of the TV shows needing to be watched for the films is insane. Marvel had it right at the start, with the Agents of SHIELD that focused on expanding the world in a way that fans could see plot lines too inconsequential for films about how the little guys handle.

Having multiple hour shows necessary for the films, especially one locked to a shitty streaming service, will remove a lot of good will in a time people already can't be arsed to watch dozens of hours of mediocre films for the continuity.

The amount of people that continue to tell me Marvel sucks but they still watch Loki cause "It's actually really really good, I swear" is annoying the fuck out of me.
Get the exact same from Star Wars fans that hate the sequel trilogy but are totally "Andor is alright" "Mandalorian was great" "ASHOKA MADE ME COOOOM!". Incredibly tiresome, I want nothing to do with the brand, period.
"WOMEN SHOULD GO SEE THIS MOVIE OR NO MORE HECKIN' WOMEN DIRECTED FILMS"
If only....

Andor is alright"
Andor is unironically pretty good. But also makes the Empire retarded in retrospect, and makes the rebellion seem schizoid; since half the show is them pontificating about the fact that the Empire really isn't doing much that's bad until the Rebels give them a black eye and make them sperg out.
Would have maybe been a better show if it wasn't Star Wars; but then even less people would watch than actually did.

Patently retarded.

Denzel has a worldwide box office gross of 4.26 billion. Yes Will Smith has 6.5 but when you look at domestic gross it cuts to 2.46 billion for Denzel and 2.76 billion for Will. Source is m.the-numbers.com

Basically Will has the edge because foreigners slurp up dog shit.

Denzel has won academy awards in 89 and 2001. Nominated in the 80s/90s/00s/10s/20s.

Will only nominated twice (02, 07) and won once in 2022 which was post BLM so it was guaranteed a nigger would win pretty much everything.

Denzel Washington is a serious and a good actor. It's clear you're either gen z or someone with no understanding of film history prior to 2010.

whats the budget dumbass.

like i said dramatic will smith, you really telling me there wasn't a single other good black actor up until 3 years ago?
A lot less than Will Smith films. I'm sure Independence Day cost more than the AIDs film aka Philadelphia. Man on Fire was less than Bad Boys II.

Also:

you really think either of those two had a better 2010s than Chris?
@Chaotic Pizzaparty was saying Hemsworth could have become an action star on par with Statham or Willis if he had opted to not be a marvel puppet for a decade. He wasn't saying anything specific about 2010s, just what Hemsworth career could have been sans MCU slop.

Not sure if you are ESL, autistic or both.

it would have been shit

if you notice very few of that coon's films actually could be considered box office successes. go through you can count on one hand the amount that make 2.5x their budget. which is pitiful for a career as long as his.
I don't understand how you can shit on Denzel and carry water for a retard gorilla nigger like Majors.

Take Denzel out of it and there are still better options for Kang: Larry Fish, Jeffrey Wright, Ving Rhames, Mahershala Ali (can blade and recast him) or Courtney B Vance
