Hensworth found out he has a genetic condition that makes the likelyhood of alzeimers developting later in his life significantly higher than the average person. Now it is not a guarantee it will happen but the chance is there either way and he wants to at least take easier with hollywood so he can spend more time with his family while he can still remember them in case the worst comes to happen. Its a very tragic and scary situation to be in and I wouldnt blame him for wanting to drop everything and go spend as much time as you can with your wife and children.

So its likely Chris isnt sticking around in the MCU for long anymore, doesnt help he says he isnt into Thor as much anymore, almost like when he finished Dark World...Ragnarok and the two infinity movies gave him a boost but he is running out of investment again.
It doesn't help that after the MCU and especially Ragnarok, he seems to be increasingly type casted as the good looking but dumb male. I think he still wants to work in movies, but he wants to work on different projects.

Which is kind of sad but I guess it goes to show far it goes to movie makers these days

Nothing to do with anything, but I put on this retrospective about the MCU on the background while I did other things, and when the guy got to Black Panther, he was extolling diversity and representation and all that, the typical "I'm a white guy who's always had heroes who looked like me but now black people have them too" and so on

And he points out he looked around the theater on opening day and "saw a black lady with her two kids; maybe the dad was getting the popcorn, I don't know"

Yeah, big maybe.

Accidentally noticing things, and not noticing he noticed.

That is an oddly hilarious anecdote. "Maybe the dad fell into a time warp, we'll never know".

I miss the time when superheroes actually interacted with the "real" world. All this alternate universe shit is just cgi overdose.
Compare this to the Tobey McGuire Spiderman films, where most of those films were just Peter Parker dealing with his life issues more so than cgi action scenes.

It almost feels self aware in the most subtle way possible. It would be comical if he said "maybe he was off getting milk/smokes. I dont know".

Just to show that even the brain of wokester morons notice these things, even if its on the subconscious level.

The hero movies around that time, like the X-men, Spiderman, Blade and so on, tried to give a realistic edge to the characters and make them feel like they live in our world, having them face real life issues. Sure, a lot of these come from the comics but they could have ignored that for mindless action but I say the people behind these movies back then were doing mostly for the passion and the fact they legit grew up with these characters and feel like their powers are cool and all but their humanity is what keeps us coming back.

They were able to strike a balance between having reasonably grounded action and human takes of these characters.

Also CG wasnt as "good looking" (and I mean this in the most subjective way possible since there is CG from the 90's that I think look better than modern CG) yet so they had to be creative with what was in action scenes and to keep suspension of disbelief reasonably intact. It still had some green screen but it was mostly still stunt men and actual props being handled by crew (just look at Spiderman 2 behind the scenes and a lot of the times Doc Ock's arms were practical effects, which made them look so much more threatening).

There is a reason why Maguire is still considered the better Spiderman all these years later, because his humanity alone carried his trilogy even when other aspects failed and you can tell this role meant a lot to him. We could tell he was one of us deep down.

Nowadays it doesnt cost much to make action scenes so you might as well throw them whenever you can, who cares.

I still haven't struggled through She-Hulk. If you've seen clips of The Big Bang Theory with the laugh track removed, it's basically that.

Ngl, I legit prefer watching The Big Bang Theory than She Hulk (and I hate the former too but at least its just really stupid instead of insultingly so like She hulk)

In lieu of Simu Liu being more retarded than usual on Twitter about the Monterey Park shooting & the shooter being Asian himself, I found out that Simu Liu used to do fetish videos.

I'm not archiving this, cause that would mean I have to download it & I don't want this shit anywhere on my phone or PC.

The Big Bang Theory was written by male comedy writers with a long resume of writing for hit shows.
She-Hulk was written by a bunch of women whose most notable credit was the awful female psychiatrist episode of Rick and Morty.

I finally watched Black Panther II today. Surprisingly, I thought it was pretty good (and especially better than the first, though I've always had a low opinion on that one). I never really liked Shuri before but she's a lot better in this one -- in fact, I think she probably had one of the better MCU character arcs since Phase One. Namor and the Atlanteans are undercooked, though I'd say still better than a lot of the villains in MCU films, but the story behind the Namor nickname was retarded and the actor didn't really bring much to the role. M'Baku is woefully underutilized and deserved better.

Riri felt completely redundant. There's really no need for her when you have Shuri. Having Shuri be the one to make the vibranium detector would've made more sense and added to her character arc. This would've also allowed them to cut out Martin Freeman's character, who is pretty pointless in this one. Likewise, they probably could've gotten rid of Nakia and given her story beats to Okoye for a tighter story; the only thing of value Nakia really adds is the mid-credits scene. Removing those two probably would've also tightened the movie's run length, which is definitely needed; there was no need for it to be nearly three hours long. Like usual as of late with the MCU, a lot of the CGI is pretty poor.

Hopefully they don't revert Shuri back to a snarky nerd; wouldn't mind seeing what they do next with her. On the other hand, I still have no interest in that supposed Ironheart TV series.

Finally got chance to watch BP2 and yeah, it wasn't that bad. Actually a fair bit better than I was expecting. @Tor Lugosi is right that it could've used some cuts here and there, but I imagine Coolger was already going spare just trying to readjust the story to account for Chadwick's passing as is. Phase 4 was very mixed in terms of highs and lows, but I think this was a decent conclusion to the whole thing.

Why is nobody pointing out that the villain of the new Ant-Man movie is Kang the Conqueror, who's going to be the villain of Avengers: Kang Dynasty, and was race-swapped to be a black guy?

The WE WUZ KANG memes should be writing themselves at this point, I am disappointed in the internet.

There is no point criticizing Hollywood slop anymore. The consoomer and hate watchers will watch everything made by the mouse no matter how bad the connotations are behind it, and try to argue the token effort is meaningful.

I don't think care anymore to talk about it. Rage tends to give way to apathy. The main draws of the MCU are either gone (Iron Man and Cap) or have been relegated to side characters (Thor). The consoomers will be as active as ever, but normies seem to be slowly moving on unless Spider-Man is involved.

Thor’s done for the near future too, Chris Hemsworth found out he’s at high risk from some kind of neurodegenerative disease and is taking a break from acting to spend time with his family. Not that he was ever a headlining Avenger in the first place but Hawkeye’s also done, due to Jeremy Renner getting run over by a snowplow. And of course Black Panther, who was probably supposed to play a big part in the new generation of Avengers, is done because Chadwick Boseman fucking died and they chose not to recast him. Spider-Man is also likely done for the near future, with Sony wanting to spin off its own universe (and thus being less likely to play ball with Disney) and Holland not so subtly hinting that he wants to leave the role.

To say they’re not in an enviable position right now is putting it lightly.

The fact that their future heroes are d-list superheroes being played by d-list actors probably do not help the future.

I mean yeah Chris Hemsworth wasn't a A-lister at the time of Thor either. But after Thor he became super popular everybody was talking about him. Outside of Reddit who the fuck is talking about Simu Lu?
