Compared to the America that talks like a Latino at Sotomayor University, being bland in MoM is an improvement.

I dunno. I mean, don’t get me wrong I am not trying to make you like America Chavez. I am not a fan of her either.

It’s just that she was a huge improvement from the comics were she unironically had “Holy menstruation” as a catchphrase and seemed to be written to be the most annoying and wokest character ever. She just exists to tick all the woke boxes and virtue signal.

MCU’s America Chavez is not the greatest character or anything, she is mostly forgettable , as you said, but she was still much more likeable as a runaway girl. And she was at least believable as a teenager.

Even her bizarre backstory is more palatable in the MCU, because you can just shrug it off as the multiverse being weird. In the comics it’s just nonsensical how she is somehow a proud Latino but also from another dimension of lesbians?
Being reminded of exactly how bad that comic is (read a couple issues and dipped) and how bad her appearances tend to be in Marvel Comics, I'll concede.

But I'm not convinced that the character is "good" in anyway. Being barely passable and generic is nothing to give them a pat on the back for, not at this point.

Shang-Chi's director will be handling Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Meh. Shang-Chi's not terrible, but it's not particularly good. Other than the obvious, I've got no clue how it got such a high critics score.

What little I've read of his older comics didn't line up with the film - not that it has to, but going from more grounded martial spy-shit to low rent Avatar: The Last Airbender with a bland lead, bland supporting cast, bland tone and boilerplate "themes" stuck out. How much of that can be blamed on the writing while taking the creative responsibility from the director? I don't know.

The Russos made a seriously good case with Winter Soldier and then again with Civil War. I'm not entirely sold on this guy being able to match up with the unfortunate disadvantage of being saddled with a ton of lame characters and a real mess of a preceding set of films.

:gasp: Bibleman! I knew it.

There's a bit of an semi-unconfirmed leak where it's confirmed that MODOK is in Quantumania, & he'll be Darren Cross who turned into MODOK in the Quantumverse & that he'll be fully mechanical instead of the traditional flying face because these films are soulless & made in VFX sweatshops. That said, this leak actually does have weight.

The unconfirmed part of the leak is the design, the design leak is found, but with no confirmed source. At least I don't know the source behind it.

Also, if this isn't just a me thing & you also somewhat think that this has a slight resemblance to Donald Trump... Don't worry, that actually happened in the comics.

Those images are fan art, surely? Kang doesn't have his mask in the footage that leaked for Quantumania. He probably gets it at the end though.

Both look fake, I can't see control freak Fiege letting official Dr Doom renders, who hasn't even been hinted at in any official capacity, being displayed by some Twitter no-name like that.

Shang Chi wasn't ...well...it wasn't fucking awful. The comedy bits were the most grating thing about it, but that's typical lowest common denominator appeal. It would be almost good if they'd tone down the comedy shit, but asking Disney to tone down the unfunny Zoomer comedy is like pulling teeth.
