The whole premise of Lady Thor in the MCU really takes away the specialness of being chosen by it. Thor, Cap, and now Whor? Seems like anyone can use it these days.
I hope it's not like in the comics with a whole cancer backstory for Jane.

I hope it is. But you'll get your wish and I wont - there's no way they'd do a take on it where she is dying of cancer and the power of Thor just gives her temporary reprieve from the pain but she's still terminal. I'd LIKE something deeper and more serious but the trajectory of the Thor movies has gone from light but realistic characterisation -> less realistic and more jokey -> massively inconsistent characterisation whenever the writer things of a fun zinger. At this rate we'll be lucky if Thor 4 doesn't involve him balancing on a ball and juggling.

FWIW, I don't have a problem with Natalie Portman being a new "Thor". She's a very good actress and easy on the eyes. They had a fun dynamic in the first movie, I enjoyed seeing Thor and Tony subtly competing over who had the coolest girlfriend and it pissed me off royally in the third movie when he was dumped off-screen for comedy and plot purposes. Thor is literally a god, one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet whilst he wont tell you off for your language or stop you at your third drink like Captain America. He's actually smart, he will put himself in harms way to protect the girl he loves and I hate that they do this "lol, the woman dumped him 'cause she's strong woman, laugh at his bruised ego" shit. I mean, I don't say that he has to be every woman's type literally but it's pretty fucking rich to play it off as he's not like the best any woman is likely to get. But no, she dumped him for "reasons".

I'll give it a chance but the trailer doesn't inspire me with Jane and Valkyrie sitting in the crowd eating grapes whilst he's stripped naked for them to joke about. I don't have a problem with the scene in itself - but I have a problem with that if it were the other way around and Valkyrie were stripped naked in front of a crowd and Thor and Tony were drinking and said: "Shall we save her?" "Sure... in a minute." Yeah, that wouldn't fly. And you know Thor would be in there in a second to put his cape around her and smash the guy who did it in the face.

I'll make the movie a deal. If I hear that Jane and Thor are actually allowed to rekindle their romance and have fun, I'll go see it. If she makes fun of him and ends up with Valkyrie (who I have never liked), it's a pass.

Sorry - rant over.

Saw the new Thor trailer and it looks okay, my only hope is that I hope Christian Bale isn't being wasted in the movie.
I don't trust Marlel with not ruining their potential kinos. But I do trust Bale make at least a slight impact of sorts.

My reasoning for not hoping they go that route is not the subject matter. The reason is it would probably be rushed and handled very poorly with a few flashback or a quick narrated cuts explaining her current situation. It would feel forced and ham-fisted, and would not have the emotional impact it needs for such character development.

Remember, the MCU thinks Thor got fat is peak character development, rather then addressing the actual PTSD from beheading Thanos. Like other people in this thread have pointed out, Stark was pretty much the only one who had any sort of character development, and Whedon pretty much turned him into a gigantic douchebag again, after that already happened in Iron Man 2 when he thought he was dying.

So I rather they leave the whole cancer plot out all together when they're just gonna fuck it up, or some character is probably gonna make light of it because we can't have too many feels in our capefest movie.

The entire movie industry is spending the last couple of years trying to cannibalize everything from the 90's, and you can really see it from the logo. But the thing I just realized is how much hypocritical those 80's references are that, if that movie was made in that decade then Lady Thor would have a chainmail bikini rather a suit with tiny dimples for boobs.
Chainmail bikinis was more of a 80ies trend but even back then women characters were moving to less skimpy clothing and armor.

Watched a bit of the Moon Knight series out of curiosity because I had read backissues of a couple of the runs, thought Moon Knight was an interesting character back then.

First episode: well, this isn't so bad.

Next episode:

I just finished the series, and I didn't enjoy it much. Same reaction, first episode, this can be dark and fun. Second episode, oh this isn't gonna be that at all, is it? I didn't hate it, but just like most of the MCU recently, it just didn't do much for me.

Why didn't Dr. Strange just offer Wanda sex? Sure, it would not be the two boys she wants but something interesting would come out of that vagina of her's that she could love.

Why didn't he just suggest she find a universe where she was a man and she could make love to herself and have incest babies? Seems like an obvious plothole that Dr. Strange wouldn't think of that!

Wouldn't the end result of that end up with horrifically inbred children? I mean, it's bad when siblings fuck, and they only share about 50% DNA.

Imagine having kids with literally yourself, just with one different sex chromosome.

Uhhhh...hate to break it to Disney but that sounds exactly like Aquaman but instead of being a Pacific Islander he's Mexican.

Did they not even watch the trailer for that movie?
Weird that they will change a Asian character into a Hispanic character.

Also good God why is everybody so bitter here. Like one joke and all of you act like twitter jannies.

I think Gorr looks interesting. There's a reason I didn't come on here for a few days. Got to get away form all the bitterness.

Wasn’t there a thing a while back that said Jane got magical space cancer from being snapped back to life? I specifically remember making fun of it….

EDIT: Found it!

So what, when Professor Hulk snapped his fingers, he thought “Bring everyone back that Thanos erased…oh, and that Jane girl Thor was kinda into gets cancer. That’d be funny…”
