Hate to be that guy, but it sounds iffy. Catwoman appeared 4 decades beforehand and no fucking she didn't had some romance with Bats.
Catwoman is older but she wasn't tongue wrestling Bruce until after Spider-Man and Blackcat were already doing it in the early 80ies before Peter and MJ eventually got married.
I'm pretty sure Batman and Catwoman outright got married and had a daughter in the Silver Age before Spider-Man and Black Cat ever became a thing.
Helena Wayne is the Earth-2 daughter of the two, not the Earth-1 Batman and Catwoman in 1978. Spider-Man and Blackcat relationship started almost immediately after her first appearance in 1979. Earth 1 Bruce and Selina relationship started few years later in the early 1980ies.
That just seems like semantics, Earth-2 was Earth-1 at one point as DC changes which universe is the main one as time goes along. Point being that Batman and Catwoman have been flirting and implied to be fucking since almost the beginning of her creation so claiming that Spider-Man and Black Cat were the precursors to that shit that Batman and Catwoman later "copied" is pretty silly.
I read the what if comic where pete marrys her. They did not hold back on how terrible an idea that was.
Their first kiss, and Felicia asked him to put his mask back on. They did move on from that, but then there was that moment when she dated Flash to make Peter jealous.
Semantics is a source of so much unneeded migraines when use to discuss comic who's dating and/or riding comic who before the internet and rule34 tooked off.
Yet nearly all of that serious flirting had been done after Batman Year One and Catwoman Her Sister's Keeper had been published in the 1987 and 88. As before with Catwoman in previous outfits and incarnations there was some slight femme fatale flirtatious interaction but nothing to the level of tongue wrestling and Bats going balls deep into her. Like with Spider-Man and Blackcat were doing before their eventual breakup.
At least classic Marvel was willing to do the bad scenarios in the What If series and had kept those ideas in there.
1) We're not talking in-canon events which is where such semantics might be relevant. We're talking real life and claiming that DC writers with Batman/Catwoman copied Marvel writers with Spidey/BC is nonsense.
literally just you, everyone i know is hyped for the film, unless you're over 60. I can pretty much talk to anyone about it and they're like "fuck yeah" and the trackers show the same thing, its going to gross over a billion dollars. Despite what the internet says Ryan Reynolds is still the top star of the past decade, to the point where the 10th highest grossing movie of the year so far is that children's film thats just Foster's but live action and with him as the star. Its the biggest film i've seen people hyped for since Endgame. Barbie was mainly memes but this is organic instant conversation starter hype, with literally anyone that isn't a boomer. Even if you might not like the films, they really are their own style, the only way of copying them is just hiring Ryan Reynolds and even that's not really the same thing.
Yeah, with the 1980s pop. I think the supposed 20-year nostalgia cycle is no longer a thing. It's going to be 20th century nostalgia until the last boomer dies and nothing remains but memberberries of copies of copies of copies. Someday they will HAVE to recast Wolverine, or so one would naively think.
DC has a multimedia thread that involves films, so it might not be a bad idea. But I feel like this thread is enough, maybe with a rename at best.
it is hilarious comparing chinese vs american movies, america has been stuck on 80s nostalgia for about 25 years while china actually understands that its mainly the youth that care about pop culture and movies. a fun comparison is Goodbye Mr. Loser vs Yesterday. its essentially the same plot but whereas Goodbye Mr.Loser has the protagonist claiming to write every hit song of the last 15 years, Yesterday is all about nostalgia for a band that broke up 50 years ago, and how actually their songs weren't really that good and features a colored protagonist. And as you'd expect Yesterday made roughly 3% of the box office of the other film, which y'know actually appealed to the movie going public instead of liberal boomers.
That's because the MCU is dead.
It's following the same path as the Star Wars thread. The new content coming out is so underwhelming that we are just remembering the things that didn't suck. What is there to be excited about the MCU aside from the one and done Deadpool? We have Not Captain America and Thunderbolts, both of which are guaranteed to underwhelm. It's past its prime. Hell, even before the studio became a bomb factory it was already creatively bankrupt.
Avengers is really the only thing that's remotely interesting right now. That's more because it's an event rather than some random film that doesn't really matter, though.
We don't even know who the Avengers are supposed to be at this point.
