The strong protect the weak, they also get to decide who qualifies as weak and what action is required. Effectively the implicit message is the strong rule the weak for their own good.

Is all this because Marks presumes himself the strong and so lord and master over the weak?

Probably. He's probably one of those "We'd all be better off living under Dr. Doom's benevolent dictatorship" sorts that the comic industry seems filled with.

What are you doing? These guys are, these are indefensible human beings.” uh they are, they, they harass women, they harass minorities, they harass lgbtq people, they’re full of hate, What are you doing? And my feeling is, look let baby keep his bottle , I, I don’t care who published the comic, I don’t care wether you publish this comic or not i don’t care but I knew the publisher and I don’t think he was aware of why all of a sudden there was this gigantic ground swell of hate towards him, so I said before a hate mob burns his place to the ground, let me call him and find out what’s going on, wether he understands (unintelligible) if he wants to publish it that’s great I don’t care but I just, I know the guy and want to make sure he knows why the hordes of Hell are defending upon him right now, that’s seems reasonable right? You know long story short, I did call the publisher and said “You do what you want and I’m not, I’m not asking you to not publish it, I’m not even saying, I’m not saying anything, I just curious what you’re thinking.” And the answer was “Oh my god, we had no idea, like we really didn’t vet this before we decided to publish it.” And so they made an announcement that they weren’t gonna publish it, uh that’s their choice, I wasn’t, i you know I, I didn’t, I wasn’t intimidating them, I wasn’t pushing them into doing one thing or another, I just wanted to, to look out for him, make sure he understood why people are angry at him, um and so that turned into what, me getting death threats every, you know 5-6 hours for a while, I’m cause I clearly hate, you know I clearly hate conservatives, because I didn’t, I said, I’m clearly I’m bullying comics, apparently I’m bullying comic publishers, I’m calling publisher and bullying into not publi-, if I can, if I can bully publishers I’d be rich, if I could bully publishers I’d be writing Superman tomorrow, I can, there would be so many things I would be doing if I were really, if I had a power to make publishers do what I wanted them to do, um does that kinda answer you question? Well, I see why he never tried to make a career out of public speaking.

Basically, Waid admits to calling the people who were going to publish Jawbreakers, in his words so that they knew full well what they were getting into. He tries to frame as him going "I don't care if you do this, just know this is why you're getting a hate mob sent after you."

There's also a bit where he tries to defend the recent pushback against conservative comic makers getting outed from the industry with "well we're kicking out liberal creators too," and trying to pin it on them just being jerks.

Short Version: Hoo boy.

Waid basically failed to keep his spaghetti in comics, and, during a minutes-long sperg-out, confirmed the following in rapid succession:

1. That he and his associates were actively trying to keep both conservatives and liberal centrists out of the industry, citing that they were simply "throwing the assholes out." At the same time he denies that he and his associates are gatekeeping.

2. He claims that D&C harassed several businesses that refused to stock Jawbreakers, something that is patently false.

3. He essentially admits that he went about trying to get D&C's publisher to back out using intimidation tactics, claiming that D&C's supporters were a "hate mob" that would "burn his business to the ground." This is basically a fucking admission of his involvement, on top of previously existing evidence. The absolute madman.

4. He then denies having an influence within the industry and any ability to bully publishers. Because of fucking course he is.

Waid seriously has cooked his own goose, and D&C would be insane not to go for the throat. Since Waid's actions fucked over the distribution of Jawbreakers, D&C can legitimately use some of the crowdfunding cash to hire on some legal muscle to boot. Waid happens to own a number of creator-owned comic IPs under his belt, so he definitely has money to go after.

I hope D&C staples him to the fucking floor.
