Honestly, it's not just D&C that could sue... any conservative or centrist leftist in the industry who's not working right now could sue Marvel or DC for lost wages, and cite Waid's admissions as their reason. It'd be shakier grounds than D&C's lawsuit but it wouldn't look good for the companies, and it would certainly help convince them that Waid's poison that they can never again touch with a twenty foot pole.

Damn. If I was the woman who played Rose, I would NOT be happy with that. Rose isn't noticeably unattractive or overweight, so to call her inspirational for being "imperfect" is basically calling her fat and ugly for no reason.
 
So, in regards to this recent bombshell, I think it's safe to say that his career is well and truly fucked.

Even if D&C settles for a settlement, this bad publicity and admission to discriminating against conservative and centrist writers is going to make Marvel look bad. They'll either convince Waid to "retire" or simply fire him, and DC sure as hell doesn't want anything to do with him. He might be able to get a gig at a very small publisher, but his days in the big leagues are numbered.

I agree, he'll get drummed out of the comics industry right after CWC gets sent to a group home, Barb Chandler dies, DSP gets banned from Twitch, Ashley Isaacs gives up the ghost, Nina Chaubal gets deported, Kevin Landau gets disbarred, and Brianna Wu goes to federal prison for not itemizing fast-food expenses properly.

Nah. Waid's biggest problem is he is just about the last of the 80's-90's old guard still in the game. The others have been quietly forced out. He will join them. I suspect much of it is the others all had families to support and couldn't afford to live on Marvel's scraps. Waid is a childless loser so has managed for years by being cheap enough and productive enough to keep his desk at Marvel in spite of his clear toxic insanity. But all things come to an end. He will quietly be shunted to less mainline books and then finally be working exclusively on his own creator owned indy projects. It's how things work.
 
I could see Waid quietly pushed out by the companies his best days are far behind him and now he's a liability who not to long ago supported digital comics piracy so I don't think he has much good will left if any in the big two.

Marvel has been openly hateful of Conservatives for a while, now. I really don't think they give a fuck about how Conservatives feel.

All this from the man who gave a black wreath to his employer to taunt him about the death of his business and wife? Something tells me Mark is a bit of a glass cannon. Or at least that's what I'd call him if he still had any hitting power; he's more like a glass slingshot at this point.

Also, to reiterate my statement earlier, EVS should take the rest of the industry "thinking ill of him" as a badge of honor.

It's not the discrimination that makes them look bad, it's the having it acknowledged openly and in those exact words.

Look, everyone knows that most news media outlets in America are in the bag for the DNC. It is one of the most blindingly obvious things in the world. But look at how hard they fight to avoid admitting that or being called on it. They will deny to their graves that they are biased and have an agenda. In their eyes it doesn't matter that everyone knows they're biased and have an agenda, because as long as they lay claim to objectivity they have it. They're big on the power of labels, after all, so as long as they can claim they're objective, to them they have the respectability that's associated with objectivity. Admitting to their bias would take away the label though.

That's why Marvel would be likely to distance themselves from Waid, say "He doesn't speak for us", and stop hiring him. It's not that he persecuted conservatives, or made conservatives mad, it's that he admitted to the open secret and damaged the veneer of the narrative.

The wording is something that seems off to me. Excuse the paraphrasing but "For every conservative we kick out, there's like 15 liberals who get kicked out too". Unless I'm missing something, either that's a typical misleading statement or he's attempting to say they're biased in the opposite direction which is a bizarre thing to claim.

I think he's trying to claim Oppression Points by saying "Liberals lose their jobs because of evil corporate scumbags!" or something like that. Basically, liberals get fired for a variety of reasons (probably none of them political), so that somehow excuses him and his cronies abusing conservatives into quitting for specifically political reasons.

Maybe. It'd fit that weird idea people like Waid subscribe to that they're "the little guy punching up" at their oppressive customers despite being a successful comic writer since I was in diapers. They like to ignore/forget that they'd be the "corporate scumbags" as he does work for Disney who currently has near complete control over the entertainment industry.

They may not give a fuck how Conservatives feel, but they likely do give a fuck about getting involved in a lawsuit brought on by the behavior of someone who they consider to be among their top talents.
